a have been starting to get onto layonara for a moth now overall, first buying the games and so on.
but now i have gone on multiplayer and so on untill i am about to play on layonara, i press play but it says i do not have the file "Layonara v17", but i do, when i check if it is in the tlk folder, it is.
please help, what have i done wrong? :(
-
You need to expand the file (unzip/unrar it).
I would suggest you download this file again and then unrar it in the tlk directory and you should be good to go.
The following TLK file will be needed for playing in the world. You need this file even if you have downloaded the Bundle listed above.
http://nwn.layonara.com/downloads/files/layonara_v17.rar (http://nwn.layonara.com/downloads/files/layonara_v17.rar) (199.61 KBytes, 2006-07-09 16:01:07)
You will need to place this file in your nwn\\tlk Folder. Some systems may not have a tlk Folder, if you do not just create a New Folder in your nwn Folder called tlk and place the extracted file into the Folder you just created.
-
have re downloaded it, trying it again *fingers crossed*
-
:( nope, didn't work.
i re-downloaded it, unzipped it, put it in the tlk folder (allready there), still didn't work
-
Just one question, is your NWN up to date, meaning version 1.67?
-
i'll check, good suggestion.
-
it is fully up to date
-
Now I am curious why it doesn't work, hrmm...
I have no idea why it does not work, usually it should :(
-
This might be a silly question, but did you unrar the tlk file in the TLK folder, or did you unrar it an created a subdirectory in the TLK folder? Sometimes winrar defaults to creating a subdirectory and that might be messing things up.
-
sorry, still nothing.
whenever i press play it still says.
missing custom module "layonarav17" :(
-
Wraithdur - 7/20/2006 1:28 AM sorry, still nothing. whenever i press play it still says. missing custom module "layonarav17" :(
Whats the exact text of the error message?
I'm pretty sure the above isn't it as there is no file called a "custom module 'layonarav17'"
-
just another silly thought that caught up a friend of mine... you have the Layo.tlk file in the NWN tlk folder, not the unzipped file folder with the file inside it?
-
the exact message displayed was:
could not load the module. missing required custom talk table. "layonara_v17.tlk"
also the item in my tlk folder is unzipped.
-
Now this is really odd:
NWN, SoU and HotU are installed and on 1.67,
layonara_v17.tlk is unzipped in your tlk-folder and not hidden in a subfolder
and it does not work.
I am still trying to figure out why, but I have no idea.
-
well while you are all picking your brains, a trivial issue:
from tommorrow onwards i will be unable to do anything else about this layonara v17 problem untill within the first 10 days of august.
(a little r&r, some time to think through this problem)
will these submissions be canceled while i am away?
-
Please post the exact, full path to your HAK folder and your TLK folder.
I suspect that while the file is the TLK folder, the TLK folder is not where it needs to be.
-
where should the tlk folder be?
anyway i have to leave in a few hours, enjoy the summer.
(hope this matter is somehow resolved)
-
The tlk folder needs to be in your base nwn directory (i.e. the same one with the program files that you click to play nwn if you were to click the acctual program rather than using the shortcut.)
If you have characters you've submitted the submissions will still be good when you get back (if they were approved that is.)
Edit: wow I make weird typos when I've just woken up, fixed
-
the tlk file is in the correct place.
(it is labeled tlk not TLK, is that important?)
thankyou very much for your help so far, hope you enjoy the summer as much as i will :)
-
Nah, it doesn't matter if it's TLK or tlk, I just tried it both ways and both are working fine.
-
ok then, a quick re-cap:
the file has been downloaded (overall about 6 different times), it has been put in the neverwinternights folder, then the nwn folder, then unzipped, then placed in the tlk folder.
i have tried to enter layonara about 8 times now, still no luck.
-
Hmm. Not sure what is going on here then. We have litterlly hundreds of others (a thousand or more at least probably) that have downloaded the tlk files and placed them in their nwn\\tlk folder and then played in the game world.
I am at a loss, sorry.
-
so...............wait........*sniffles*....i can't play layonara.....*bursts out crying*.................i looked up to you guys!
*starts to search the internet for another RPG to fill the void in his life*
but seriously should i give up all hope of ever going on layonara?

Wraithdur,
Please humour me and try the following:
Open a dos box (startmenu>Run , type 'cmd' in the 'Open' text dialog box. Click Ok)
This will then open a dos box (black nasty text only window).
type in the command dir c:\\*.tlk /s > c:\\layo_tlk.log - then press enter
leave you machine form at least 10 minutes as your c: drive is searched for TLK files.
When you get back reply to this post and attach a file. The file to attach is c:\\layo_tlk.log. This will allow us to have a quick look at the location of TLK files on your C:\\ drive.
All the above assumes that NWN is installed on your C:\\ drive. if it isn't change the drive letter for the *.tlk serch path
Hope thats understandable.
Nibor
-
what is a dos box?...........sorry(noob........actually i used to think it was spelled nube)
-
DOS window = Command Prompt.
But don't worry about that too much....just follow Nibor's directions and you should be fine.
-
very sorry.............but i still have no idea what you mean :(
-
Are you running Windows?
-
yes.......i'm just uneducated in its many programs
-
Alright...then follow the directions the Nibor21 gave above.
Click your Windows desktop "Start" button, select Run..., and so forth. Follow what he suggested and let us know what comes out of it.
-
doing that now.
was it ok that i just copied and pasted directly into it?
-
i waited for about 30mins, no result, i probably copied it down wrong, dunno
:(
-
i was searching the forums and found someone else who had experienced my problem, they solved it by deleting all hak packs etc. then re-installed.
should i take this course of action?
-
ohh I think I got it, you put the .rar file in the nwn/tlk folder, THEN unzipped/rared it? Is that correct?
If so, what you need to do is take the .tlk file and put it DIRECTLY in the nwn/tlk folder.
when you unrar something it often puts it in a new folder named whatever the name of the rar was.
The output of the rar should be just one little file, and that little file needs to be directly in nwn/tlk the rar file itself is not needed once you get the .tlk out of it.
Edit: oh minerva already said the same thing above. But as I don't think it was responded to, it might be the issue still.

You don't actually see anything happening. However, a file called Layo_tlk.log will have appeared on your c:-drive.
What you need to do now, is reply to this thread, tick the box "Attach a file after posting", then browse for that layo_tlk.log file and click submit.
Then we can take a look.
-
thanks for all your help...............my friends helped me get on layo.................too much to explain how it was fixed, but the important thing is that i'm there........................................so there is no purpose for this thread anymore..................umm................how do i delete a thread?
-
Glad your in and hope you enjoy Layo.
Don't bother about deleting the thread, it will either disappear into history, be a good reference for the next person with problems like yours or allow the rest of us point to it to embarrass you in the future ;)
-
Wow, that was a lot of people working ont his problem! I'm glad it got sorted out though, see ya in game.
-
thankyou everyone :)
see you in the game :D
(you probably won't embarrass me in the future with this thread because i didn't tell you the stupid mistake i made) :p
