I was just thinking it would be cool to figure out some of our most loved spells, not neccesarilly character favorites, but just long time personal favorites. So if you have one please fell free to post.
hmmm I think I'll start off with... prismatic spray... so much random stuff to do and all of it usefull :)

I got a couple of them!
In arbitary order:
- Heal... Invalueable spell!
- Word of Faith... Woah! Emergency lifesaver spell!
- Ressurection... You know... Sometimes the previous spells fails. ;)

Bigbys spells are likly my favorit, the hole big green hand in your face thing is just so fun!

Issacs Greater/Lesser Missle storm/ Magic Missle rock!!!!

PnP or NWN...
PnP, it's got to be Delayed Blast Fireball. Prepare five of them, and drop them all on the same spot. Then toss a regular fireball to trigger them when Joe Monster comes a'runnin'.
NWN... Magic Missile. Nothing's cooler than watching a handful of blue things fly over and kill something.

lol. Personally missle spells are not my favorite but there's nothing like having two spellcasters cast a combonation of Issac's lesser and Issac's greater at the same time. :D

BANISHMENT!!!!!
Like... the best.. out of the two spells... that I get a higher DC on.
EDIT: Reading that actually makes me kind of sad.

Hold person...when it works it's brilliant to get a few spells or slashes in there.

fav RP spell by about a million miles has to be invisiblity, as a bard i never leave home without gum arabic

Has to be Holy Sword, turns your trustworthy weapon into an even more powerful and kickarse trustworthy weapon. :P

Ball and Chain lightning...

Ball lightning is one of my favorite spells as well. Basically a good fireball that cant hurt your friends. :)

Magic Missle or any spells like it.. due to a little glitch i know that makes pertty light show

Hammer of the gods in combat. A perfect combat spell, damages and stuns your enemies, while not effecting your friends.
for RP, I'd have to say greater sanctuary. I love walking through people. lol

*looks through his spell book for the DM Invinciblity toggle spell* Where is that blasted spell? I thought clerics had access to every spell for each level. I can't find this one. Do I need a CDQ to get that one or is it an epic feat? What's the spellcraft requirement?

From a Bjorn's perspective, both of the mind blanks are his absolute favorites. All mages should learn them, unless they want confused dwarves flailing their hammers at them in battle, thinking they're an anvil.

My favourite hands down has to be Wail of the Banshee. God I love it.

oh, my all time favorit, though i dont know it, its a specail spell that one person knows. Ill have to get Sahala to teach me. Summen Drow Monk. Wonderful spell, he lasts intell death, so you can keep him for weeks. Its wonderful!

epic spell greater ruin, usually kills in one shot, mummy dust, best summon better than the dragon because it is not so big and in the way, and most buff spells can be used on it, and, it lasts for a very long time, usually till it dies.

Polymorphing spells are great in PnP. They open whole new avenues of approach to problems. Illusions are also on my list of favourites... the whole school of echantment (i.e. charm, dominate etc.) is just evil :)

Charm person... makes getting dates eaisier

Greater Ruin, cause it has the coolest vfx of any spell out there.

I really like that Summon Drow Monk spell that Sahala knows as well. You can even raise him after he dies so he is almost immortal. That is unless he dies three times in a short period. Then Sahala has to resummon him and sometimes it takes a while for him to show up.

I think it has to be banishment or i think in baldurs gate 2 it was imprisonment.
"yes i finally i got all the parts of the evil lich together! Whats he casting? Where has Jahara gone? Whats going on?"
"End of game character dead video comes up"
Or come on Disentergrate in BG2, boom gone.

i think in baldurs gate 2 it was imprisonment.
Imprisonment was awesome cause there was no way to counter it. I never really bothered having my PCs use them, but I loved fights where I had to make sure I killed the mage first, just because the only way to get my people back afterwards was to spend lots of money on Freedom scrolls.
And mind you, there weren't many freedom scrolls available in that game.

Gaxx and Kangaxx were a ton of fun. Hasted characters with disrupting weapons could usually deal with Gaxx with only limited trouble - then you run before Kangaxx forms and regroup. Cast Death Ward, Spell Immunity(Abjuration), Holy Might, Bull's Strength, and any other buffs you like on Aerie, and send her in with the Staff of the Magi. *whackitywhackitywhackitywhack* Evil skull is dead.
My favourite spell in NWN remains Haste - it got a bit nerfed in terms of duration, but a dual-wielding character with haste? Cuisinart!
Favourite PnP spell - Teleport. Never have so many, walked so little, thanks to one spell. *grins*

I have only one favourite spell and it's an 11th level spell. I think it is called dragon Knight and it's the one where you can call forth a red dragon.
Only used it once and it was when I tested out some character idea's. But I love dragons so that’s why I love that spell.

Hrmmmmmmmm... NWN fave? I crave creative ways and bending of the laws of the universe so I spose most of mine would be RP only spells. Wish they had things like Wall of Iron, stone, etc.. though I enjoy everything lightening.
PnP.. Anything illusion based.. or anything that can be played with to get interesting results. Damage spells can have creative uses as well.

I have a small list of favorite spells. They are, in no particular order...
Slay Living. Nothing is cooler than coming out of your invis above a giant enemy that failed it's touch attack and save.
Destruction - Same as above, but cooler looking. Plus, the sound is totally worth it.
War Cry - Not enough people use this, with all the Bards we have, it's a very useful spell.
Invisibility - Everyone likes this.
Dominate Monster - A battle can easily be turned around with one casting of this, espically because most npc casters are barely able to save against it if you're a powerful enough Enchanter. It was cooler back in Beta 4 when it lasted for 23 minutes at level 20, which was enough time to get the Greypeak Giant King into Fisterion's lair for another casting, then watching the second hardest boss get whiped out by the hardest.
Summon Creature 9 - A'duh. It's great for any faith.
Summon Creature 3 for Branderback - Great DR, Concealment, and HiPS. Fun spell for a Halfling to use.
Negative Energy Ray, Blast - Great for healing my summons at a distance.
Harm - Great assassination spell. Harm combined with Destruction is a basic insta-death for anything, anywhere, ever, that isn't a DM, Undead, or Fisterion.
That's about it.

From 2nd Edition PnP I have a couple of favourites:
Enlarge: The best first level buffing spell, and it was reversible.
For Rp'ing it had to be Suggestion. I would take my tiefling enchantress with 17 chr in to a room with someone who wanted to kill me for two minutes, and they would walk out having told us everything and ready to kill his boss.

As far as a lower level spell... Combust, its kinda funny to watch an ogre or giant become a huge torch. But the bodies smell bad when they keep burning.

Offensive: Hammer of the Gods (good for combat), Greater Ruin (Don't get caught in the blast!)
Defensive: Any and all healing spells (HP restoration in particular), Haste (Super fast when Monk Speed is at its highest), Undeath to Death (and other buffs).

Greater Ruin is actually a single-target Epic Spell, maybe you wanted to say Hellball. :P

Greater Ruin has a blast radius, almost as deadly as Hellball.

Mmmm Greater Ruin is nice, Here Lichy lichy lichy! Though for Epic spells i think im going to take Epic Mage Armor first, then Timestop. Timestop sonds wonderful.. but never seen it in use

Yeah, Combust is one of the best spells out there, relative to level. Combine an empowered combust with a target with low reflex and you'll see what I mean.
