A new character was approved not long ago with the first name Glenn. I ran Glenn thendor on layonara for 12 months before he permed and I am keeping this family story going with his brother Wren. Glenn was a very well known character and I would have hoped that permed character names would be reserved. I am sure that Gotak, Ayla, and Addison would feel the same way. Anyway I am not sure that anything can be done about this. I did talk to the new Glenn and the player said that had he known about this he would have picked another name.

I don't see any reason characters can not share first names permed or otherwise. There are several characters that share the same first name on the server right now and I think that this puts an unrealistic limit on an already restricted process. If he had taken the same last name as well that would be another story but just as in real life people can share first names.
