Title: Try this.

Stare at the dot and keep looking... Do not move your eyes from the dot... If all works you should see the picture in color and not in black and white.

Cool, but...before the color change, if I look at the dot, it looks in color anyway, even though it's in black & white.  Does that mean that my wiring is faulty (in my hed)?

The counting seconds give the whole thing away. That and the fact that the picture is shown in colour before it goes to black & white.

Gives it away? There's not really anything to give away. If you look at a color long enough you'll get a ghost image of the complimentary color (180 degrees oposite on the color wheel.)

This works if you stare at anything that is sufficiently bright (well it works with anything but some things aren't bright enough for you to notice the after-image.)

1) Take a red, yellow, and blue sharpie and draw thick stripes next to each other on a piece of white printer paper (I say printer paper because it will work better on whiter paper than on say, lined paper or newsprint.)

2) Stare at some focal point in or near the stripes for some period of time (draw a black dot if it helps you.)

3) Quickly look away and focus on a white wall, or a blank piece of white paper. You'll see a set of green, purple, and orange stripes (if you drew the original stripes in the same order I wrote them in.) Its neat

I know about that effect.

When at first it shows the castle for a second then I thought that it was in colour already so I didn't see the point to the whole thing. Now that I looked at it for the second time I noticed that it is in black and white.
