I am always amazed at what the body can go through and not be as bad off as you would think.
Today I was helping to unload a box off of a truck at work. Somehow the box was shifted towards me and it ended up dropping on my left middle finger. Did I mention that the box was wooden and weighed almost 200 pounds? Can you say shmooshed?
My finger ended up swelling up and the skin was split, but after some icing, my finger really doesn't hurt. I cant type very well, but that really is nothing new. :)

Ow! I hope it heals up soon.
-
The left? Drat, no more misclicks. ;)
Sorry to hear you smashed up your finger, but it's nifty to see it's not hurting to bad at the moment. Still might want to get that looked at, though.

I agree Reg. The body can take a lot. Just today I had to sit through 8 hours of a single meeting. With a working lunch! I could hardly get up at first, but by the time I got home I was able to take a ride on my bike. And...yes, I am complaining about sitting :)

Oh, and I do hope you finger heals quick.
-
and please tell me you had a doctor take a look at it!!!!!
-
The doctor looked at it and after xrays and lots of sitting around waiting, I was sent home. But not before they cleaned the wound. This involved scrubbing where my skin had burst open. Then they had to dry the wound which involved compression. Compression on a crushing wound...yeah...it hurt. :)

ouch glad it seems ok,
I can't help but wonder, this seems a little one sided, I mean, whatever happened to the box!!
-
the reason it doesn't hurt anymore is probably that it has numbed.
either that or (i hope this isn't the case) that finger is nerve dead.
hope your typing doesn't get too badly effected

Ouch...I did the same thing with a 70 lb motor home block when I was 2 years old =P.

It could be worse....I remember one time in the army, this guy had blisters the size of silver dollars on his feet, which subsequently got infected and then scabbed over. He basically had to take a steel wool pad and scrub the blisters until the scabs were completely gone and the skin underneath was exposed and bloody, so he could then disinfect said blisters. I was sitting there soaking my own blistered feet in some iodine and was pretty much grossed out. As I'm sure is anyone reading this.
Yeah the good old days. They werent so good.

Amazingly... your head can survive undamaged.. the weight of about 2 tons....
for about 1/8 of a second
Then it's just a pasty meat pie
-
At first I misread that and thought you wrote 'a tasty meat pie', rather than pasty.
-
mmmmmmmmm......meat pie.........
-
Ouchhhhhhhh!!!!!! I do know what you mean. Take care of that finger
-
Head.. the other pasty meat

I think this is the reason why bones are strong...
