Greetings,
This is Legasus from Rogue Dao Studios.
I am a part of a team that is putting together a new single-player campaign for Neverwinter Nights 2 named the Planescape Trilogy. We are visiting all of the most popular NWN1 Roleplay worlds and letting everyone know about a new concept our team has in module development.
Basically, we are casting the Planescape Trilogy campaign like a movie.
There is an open casting call on the forums. Anyone can "audition" to have their character included as an NPC in the modules of the campaign. Some players from the community will have their PCs cast as potential adventuring companions for the main player character. Other players' PCs will be cast as major and minor NPCs in the storylines, as well as in a variety of cameo roles.
As the web becomes a more powerful tool for individuals to create virtual personae, people will begin to recognize the value of socially-networked artistic creations. Casting a NWN2 campaign with NWN community members' player characters is the next logical step. That's the scoop.
So, if you are interested in applying to have your PC converted to use as an NPC in this campaign, here's what you do:
1) Go to our website at http://www.roguedao.com
2) Post up your vitals in the PC-NPC Conversion thread on the forums.
3) We'll notify everyone sometime around mid-to-late October regarding all of the casting decisions.

Rogue Dao Studios announces the Planescape Trilogy
September 25, 2006 -- Rogue Dao Studios announces the Planescape Trilogy, a massive campaign set in the Infinite Planes for Obsidian Entertainment's Neverwinter Nights 2. The Planescape Trilogy will deliver up to 45 hours of gameplay, 16 adventuring companions, an epic main plot and a slew of dynamic side quests.
"We expect the Planescape Trilogy to be the must-play adventure once everyone is finished with the NWN2 Original Campaign," - Montgomery Lee Markland, Executive Producer.
The first module, PT: Purgatorio, will hit the vault in December 2006, just in time for the holiday season. PT: Inferno will be released mid-Spring; PT: Eschatologia will be released next Summer.

The Development Team
We've put together a twelve-person team comprised of some of the most practiced designers and custom content generators in the community.
The team counts a half-dozen PW admins among the ranks. We've got the lead designers of a Hall of Fame PW, Myth Drannor, the lead designer from a PW that should be on the Hall of Fame (Gatecrashers); and some of the best and brightest level designers, sourcebook material experts and jacks-of-all trades available in the community.
The team members have, collectively, around twenty years of NWN design experience between them. Thousands of NWN players have enjoyed the fantastic worlds that these individuals have created. Now they are going to turn their collectively energies towards producing the finest single-player campaign possible.

Was going to submit Karn, just for flavour, but first, is this set in the planes, if so I assume we would submit PC's from various worlds? Basically I'm wondering whether to submit Karn as is, or to alter his backstory to incorporate what they are looking for?
Any advice?

Hey guys, thank's a lot for the response, we're really glad to have you all aboard with our project.
While not all of the applications will be made into party NPCs, we feel it is entirely plausible to give most if not all of the characters a role somewhere along the road- we have three games planned, and we're going to need a lot of characters to move our story foward. We feel that some of the smaller, but still vital roles in the quest, will be made very memorable by the inclusion of dynamic, well thought out characters- characters that were created with care and thought. That's why we looked at the best NWN PW's and tried to find a way to utilize communities like this, to elevate our project.
We will respect your characters, and will contact you for information and input on your characters role, to remain as true as possible to your visions. Thanks again for the wonderful response!

What an overall great project. Also, I think I'm going to be assisting with the music, so uh, I need some suggestions for some Windows compatible sequencers and music writing programs/tools.
I have the talent, just not the tools :(

Well since this is my fields..
Protools which I highly recomend, then there is cubase and nuendo which are exactly the same for having used both. Sound fourge for the easy editing. But if you can Protools will offer you the best Audio and a good midi environment with the best real time pluggins and fully compatible vst instruments out there. After that there is all the hardware stuff you need like nearfields monitors, if your working at home you will probably have a static balancing for you mixing room ( which means, that instead of spendig multyplyes tenth of thousands of dollars on having your room balance to giv out the best frequency responce. You will have some pannel that somewhat changes the accoustic and gives insonorisation and a minimum of a 32 1/3 octave stereo graphical eq, to balance it out coupled with a spectral analyser.) For the nearfields I recomend the mackie hr824. For a good hom studio and if you can spend it I would recomend you get the digi02 http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?langid=100&navid=30&itemid=4894 which after the defunt Mackie hui http://www.mackiedigital.com/products/HUI/index.html is, to my personal view, the best home studio or portable sutio digital audio workstation that is available for a more than reasonable price.
And which tells me that if you do need help with music production, I am interested in putting work into it.

Just a bump and a note...
In addition to the NPC character submission, I've joined the Rogue Dao team to do some voice acting. While there appears to have been a good response to the call for voice actors, the team is still looking for additional folks to add diversity to the voice sets... especially female voices, as most of the current volunteers are men.
Also, some of the composers have expressed interest in using vocals on some tracks, so anyone who'd like to add a singing voice, even if they don't think they can do voice acting, should apply if interested.
