Great response, I'm impressed!
Here's what to do next:
Teachers, create an event on the player calendar for a time that is convenient to yourself. Be sure to make the event name something recognizable (eg. School - rapier training, Freelancer Combat Academy - Pig, etc.). I will check the calendar often, or you may PM me with the event. In either case, I will make a flier for the tavern forum threads with the Freelancer logo and include your PC's name and info you put into event.
Payment: Yes, you teachers will get paid. I need to do the payment a bit OOCly here to keep things fair. Here's the formula I'll use:
PC level * 1/2 * 1000 + ( Number of students - 2 ) * 500
The maximum payout isPC level * 1000, the minimum is half of that. You must have at least two students show up to your class to get paid. Examples:
5th level fighter teaching ambush tactics to three PCs -- 5 * 1/2 * 1000 + ( 3 - 2 ) * 500 = 3000
20th level teaching rapier use in duels of honor to seven PCs -- 20 * 1/2 * 1000 + ( 7 - 2 ) = 15000
This teaching payment is a one time thing, though I will still pay for students at 500 each going forward. (I hope everyone understands that the coins involved here are significant to Pig's back account balance.) I would hope a teacher would run at least a couple classes for this amount, though I'm not going to hold anyone to doing that if it isn't fun for them. Teachers may, of course, attend classes offered by others.
Classes should all convene in the arena but then may continue outdoors for "field" training.
There is no level limit for running a class. If your first level PC can RP teaching something that is in-character, then please do so. Obviously they should teach something that is appropriate to their level. Examples: 2nd level fighter teaching military ettiquette from his past, 1st level rogue teaching hand signals to coordinate ambush, 1st level paladin teaching care & maintenance of polearms.
Edit: If possible, try to schedule your class for Wednesdays. I am thinking that pre and post class activities could be at the Freelancer tavern. Knowing that Wednesdays are "school days" might help give this combat academy some starting power too. If that day doesn't work for you, do go ahead and schedule it for any day. Thanks!
