While house shopping whith Rhynn we have discovered many houses across the servers that are owned by those who have been inactive for ages and maybe even dead.
I was wondering if there was a program in place to clear those houses and put them back on the market?

It is done from time to time by the GM team. But we need to be careful before we delete houses. Some may be owned by players who have left for good, but are used by friends of this character. Others are owned by players who are absent from the world for months due to RL obligations. So many times it is not as easy as it would seem.

Sometimes people come back and play again even after a long while. Would be a shame to return after a prolonged break from Layo to find your house in ruins :)

Hmm...isn't ruins actually what they would turn into :)

I'm just teasing...being a person who was away for a long time I would totally hate to have come back to a no house scenerio...kind of would be interesting to see some of these houses fall into ruin though.

Others have came back from RL to empty houses.
Needs to be a flat across the board way of handeling this or people will cry favoritism.
If someone is gone "that" long and doesnt even bother to say... hey I';ll be back dont sell my house, or anything... then get it back on the market for people who are actually playing and contributing to the world.

And then you have the problem of dead people who can't really sign on to clear their houses, much as they'd like to , in some cases, do it *sighs*

Oh well, we can clear out their houses for them with shocking efficiency. There's no reason for the dead to do it, other than to mule their stuff to other characters.
The exception might be if there was a pre-perming will prepared, but even that is under close GM supervision.
