Now that we have visible snow in hlint and surounding areas do you think we will see the inn used alot more, people really shouldnt be stannding around while its snowing for hours they may get a chill.
-
Good point.....would be a much more Rp'able gathering place than freezing outside. May be a lot more drunk PC's staggering home in the snow.
-
// its just a mater of convienence... especially when people just whiz past. And stop and talk when they see people... but they never think to look in the Inn.
How about a permanent fire going someplece like in front of the gates to the crypt... for folks to huddle around? maybe Erag would stay where he is supposed to be then! (yeah right! lol )
Many people dont think about the game climate...look at the outfits they wear and seem perfectly comfortable in freezing contitions! :)

I'm sure you could blame the bench disappearances on them smashing under the weight of some dumb half-giants who keep sitting on them when they shouldn't. :)
-
Dont get me wrong I think I have been on the benches as much as anyone simply chatting and passing the time away, it's just a shame the inn is not used more.

It's just practicality, as opposed to realism. The Hlint benches are on THE most heavily traveled path on the gameworld. People just "hanging out" to look for someone to chat with or form a party with are going to gravitate there becaue that's where they are most likely to just bump into someone. If the inn were the gathering place, you'd be depending on people just "popping in" to see who's there, which is far more realistic, but just isn't quite as practical.

yes I know your right but i can dream *smile*
-
//*chuckle* My newest character just spent a couple of hours out in the snow chatting this evening (my time), and all the way along, there were comments about the cold, how much they hated the snow, etc. - yet no one went in, even though it was suggested a couple of times. It's about flow of conversation and breaking it to move inside; also, I remember that it's kind of creepy to be chattering away and suddenly find some drunk breathing down your neck, as (used to) happens in the Wild Surge.

What would happen if a slow damage would occur as does at the Barbarian Isles. Not as fast as there but that would be an incentive to either build a fire or go to the inn or other building.
-
I'd like to see a campfires or bonfires put in town, many towns... it makes perfect sense to me! :)
and people would most certainly want to gather there!

"...What would happen if a slow damage would occur as does at the Barbarian Isles. Not as fast as there but that would be an incentive to either build a fire or go to the inn or other building...."
This will happen, it just take a module update so it will have to happen when the module gets updated. In fact this has happened to at least a half dozen areas already, probably more but I don't recall off hand.

Is there any chance that PCs with a "natural" cold res feat might be less effected by cold weather? I have a PC from Shoufal so I had him take the cold resistance feat. Also what kind of temperatures is it dropping too in these areas?
(speaking of cold it was -7 F/-21 C this morning at my house. The way to tell if its below zero (F) is if your nose hairs freeze right away when you go outside the house. :>)
-
I think there should be a few more benchs there, because theres always so many people that we just stand around
-
add those fires I say.

Right, well, that would definitely apply to Brielle, but I don't worry about it based on an unusual effect I discovered - if I wear a short skirt in the winter, I'm not cold. I suppose I subconsciously decide that if I was going to be cold, I would have dressed warmer. But really... I end up being much less cold wearing skimpy clothes than all bundled up nice and "warm."
I think... that I'm crazy.

Acctually Hlint hasn't been changed, I did that while I was playing around last night.
Hlint will be back to its usual self next server reset :'(
-
Oh but I was enjoying the snow. It gave something new to the Hlint.
-
its snowing like crazy in Hlint... patches of snow all over Talan.
However I realise that could just been changes added by some DM's and not official changes.
So what we see could be gone with a reset then
-
yes keep the snow!........(singing) let it snow, let it snow, let it snow......

add those fires I say.
Well, kill two birds with one stone... burn the benches. :)
-
FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!
-
I say keep the snow as a seasonal thing. It adds a little spice and changes things up...if only slightly. And to OldBear, go stand around in the snow in Leilon for a while. Takes longer than the Barbarian Isles, but you suffer damages from cold. :)
-
Malor Had a nice Bon Fire and 4 smaller fires going earlier.
I like the snow.

I put that snow there. It will be gone with a reset and may already be.

benches?... we don't need no stinking benches!
-
I do like the snow. Is there a way to set a % for each type of weather? Like 50% snow, 30%rain, 10%cloudy, and 10%sun. Now that would be a cool way to have weather.
Etin

well not 10% sun.... its 0% right now isnt it?
but aside from that point we DO have that kind of % control over the weather! At least upon creation of the level... if it gets changed after that we won't see it untill an update.
Maybe we can change the %'s on the fly.... not sure on that one.
