It’s that time again folks!
Project Team applications are now open. Now is your chance to contribute to the world of Layonara in a very cool way.
Requirements: Primarily creativity, ability, desire, and the ability to work collaboratively as a team. You don't need to be an expert at all things NWN or Layonara. At least some prior experience working with NWN or custom content is helpful.
If you are interested in joining the Project Team, please indicate below along with a description of your qualifications and what you can bring to the project team. Applications will remain open until Saturday November 18, 2006 at midnight PST.
We are beginning work on V3 and need some dedicated people to help out in most areas. Please do not be bashful. If you have the desire to help and the time to dedicate we will utilize you where we are most able to do so.
If anyone has questions about the Project Team or the application process, please feel free to PM me. If you wish to submit a sample of work as part of your application, you may e-mail it to me at leanthar@layonara.com.

I could assist with scripting or other toolset chores. Though I haven't done NWN script in a number of years, it shouldn't be too hard to clear the cobwebs.
I haven't done any intricate area design. Nothing involving lighting, sounds, and more than basic triggers.
I've never setup or used a DB running with a PW, though I have read over the NWNx docs and setup MySQL for other things. (It's been a while for both.)
Interests:
- working on completing the CNR recipe GM interface
- new CNR recipes
- debugging scripts
- updating ingame information (books, descriptions, etc.)
This type of work would be good since I would not have to block out a solid chunk of time, but instead could fit it in around RL. (Unlike GMing where an uninterruptable period of time is required.)
A couple of notes:
- I do not own an uber PC so there is a very real chance I could not compile the entire module.
- Nov & Dec are very busy with trips and holidays where I would have no access to PC running NWN.
-
i would like to help out since i have so much fun here
ive dabbled in the toolset making items and such and basic areas, just tinkering so to speak
made a few areas to try things out before playing a char through to see how they would function and such
not any good at scripting or such but if there are some basic guides in place im sure my imagination can help out even if its just to take some mundane work off the people who could be used better in other places
* interests*
- area design
- item design
- editing
-
I would also like to offer my assistance.
I'll go ahead and be upfront and honest however that I have no prior experiences with the aforementioned qualifications like NWN or custom content. However I'm quite creative and willing to learn.
I'll work hard wherever I'm needed. However, I'd most like to be involved in:
- Area Design
-Creature/NPC Design and maintenance
-Weather/Climate Design and control
I have a flexible college schedule, so time is not an issue.
No hard feelings if denied, but I have loads of fun here and I'd like to get involved.

My only field of expertise that you could use is music and voice overs. No clues if you plan to use any of this in the next version but if so, I am at your disposal.
-
I have very limited (read: none) experience with the GM client and toolset, as well as little reliable chunks of time in which to run quests, so straight GMing is out. But like PenNPopper, I'm interested in doing some of what goes on behind the scenes. As I've said to a few people already, I think some of the monsters we have are off-balanced in their stats and skills, and I'd like to throw my hat into the ring for creating new/rebuilding old creatures for V3. While my familiarity with the NWN systems is limited, I have an encyclopedic knowledge of creature-building from PnP that I'd like to apply here.

I'll likewise volunteer myself for VO work, but I have no other experience (or, for that matter, the time to learn) with the rest of the toolset.

I too have a bit of experience in video production. I would be keen to do any video and work with Hellblazer putting things like this together.

indeed could be cool.

Guys, let's try to keep this thread clean and keep the discussion to a minimum. This is for applying for the Project Team and for asking about the Project Team.
-
I dont got most experience with scripting, but I would love to build some areas.
-
Could the applicants please post what L asks: " please indicate below along with a description of your qualifications and what you can bring to the project team". Kind of like what PenNPopper posted above. Thank you.
-
My interests are mainly the graphic part of things, putting an area together in a realistic, detailed way at least as realistic Im able with the nwn toolset. I also know how to make conversations and encounters.
What I could bring to the team? Well, very detailed areas! Not much scripting though.

ok well here it is
Composing, recording music and area mood ambiance and voice with either, Protools, cubase, sonic or cool edit 2.

I'd like to join the project team as an area designer.
I have helped in this capacity before. I was taught how to use the toolset by Icedragon and Dorganath, creating areas and monsters. I created a fairly extensive area that may be in waiting still (I mailed it to Leanthar and Dorganath during my extended absence, but it isn't in yet?) that Dorg and Gulnyr helped me test and balance a bit, and I made a lot of custom NPC's/monster for my own quest series when I was on the GM team.
I'm familiar with the Layonara files required for making areas and creatures for Layo. I am comfortable with the lighting and placables system, also realizing the limitations that those systems have / restrictions on number of items and placable in an area.
I'm not a talented scripter by any means, and I honestly do not have the desire to learn to do it well. But I enjoy making 'deep' areas that have 'something more' than whats immediately appearant.
Please consider me for:
*Area design
*Creature/NPC design
*Atmosphere and 'flow' checking
*Icon work (using adobe photoshop, illustrator)
*specific theme design (indoor temple, subterranian hive, etc.)

Additionally, I would enjoy adding content to LORE based upon questions asked & answered in the forums and on IRC.

LORE is a separate team.

I have a bit of experience in area, creature and item creation; nothing special dabling mainly, but I do enjoy it. I understand the basics well enough ie- area lighting, tile lighting, dialog trees, journal entires, awards etc. Haven't spent any time with sound though.
Anyway, I'd love to be able to contribute more to Layonara.
-
I would like to help out in building areas. I have experience with most things in the toolset some more then others. Almost no experience in scripting. I wouldn't mind learning more and helping out with scripting if I can though. I have e-mailed L a smaple of some of my work.
-
Applications are closed (have been for a few days). The team and I will discuss the applications and make a decision over the next few days.
I do want to say that there is going to be a delay on a decision as I have RL obligations happening (major ones) for the next 3-4 days.
