It has been an exciting time here in this new town called Hlint. After having woke up from the odd dream and finding myself in this town I knew only despair wondering where I was or what to do in order to survive. Luckily most people I have met have been rather friendly. I even went on a few 'adventures' so to speak. I traveled through the sewers and crypts of the town with a few amiable and cheerful people. Though the killing of beasts and monsters was rather repulsive, I have come quickly to learn that even with a distaste for adventuring it must be done in order to ensure safety of others.
I learned that lesson from a new friend just recently. Well maybe we're not friends but I'd be glad to call him one. I had organized a get together of any new folk to the town to enjoy a drink and introduce themselves, though it was a low turnout a man named Ifion Witseeker agreed to guide us to a most excelletn tavern and inn known as the Leilon Arms. Upon arrival to the tavern I met a pleasant group of merchants, adventurers and the like. We enjoyed a drink or two and talked to the others taverngoers, a most enjoyable affair I must say. Finally the tavern was closing up for the night and I had to make it back to the town of Hlint. It is then that Ifion asked for my assistance.
He explained that he wanted to investigate a crypt not too far off from our path. He mentioned that he had heard rumour of these undead spilling out from the crypt which was rather rare according to him. I was wrought with worry, a goblin or rat is one thing but the undead? Yet something stirred within me, against all my common sense there was that voice that said...yes. I remember the books of my old master, accounts by other wizards and their dealings with ancient ruins, monsters, spells and such. I have come to the realisation that I am no longer my master's apprentice, and though I may need a new master to teach me, I have much more control over my life and my affairs. I prepared some spells at once, Ifion did the same and we ventured forth to the outskirts of this crypt.
It seemed quiet enough but Ifion's sharp eyes quickly spotted them upon the hills. Horrible rotting creatures with weapons in hand slowly progressing in their death march towards us. Ifion made the appropriate defensive spells and began his attack. I myself showered a barrage of magical bolts of energy onto them. To my horror I learned the monsters somehow conjured up forms of magical protection! I didn't think it was possible, this was protective magic much more advanced than something I could create. With some quick thinking, if I do say so myself, I summoned my familiar to my side and sent it off to delay one of the creatures while the others were busy with Ifion. Soon enough the protective shield dissipated from the creature and I let loose another barrage of energy and frost upon it. With my spells depleted I had but one choice, I cast the most powerful weapon enchantments I know. Setting my staff aflame I charged in on the creature, which was preoccupied with my familiar. A few deft hits with my imbued 'walking stick' and it was lying upon the grass thoroughly destroyed.
With our job done, we returned to Hlint. Ifion and I said our goodbyes for he had other business to attend to. It was quite alright though, I was tired from my adventure and needed some rest. It was an exciting week for me here in this new town and I have become better for the experience. I only wish that Ifion's path will cross mine, he seems to be a likeable fellow.

I met someone I had not mentioned from my previous writings. I spent some time hobnobbing, as they call it, in the town of Hlint. There I met a man I knew from the first day of coming to Hlint. His name is Eson, a most interesting fellow. He is in truth a Paladin of Lucinda, the Godess of magic. I learned that he was dividing his studies between that of a holy warrior and as a practitioner of the arcane. A most interesting combination to be sure. I tried probing him with some questions on the nature of Lucinda. I unfortunately know little of her, and our conversation was short for he got tied up with a few others in town. He did mention her being part of something called the Weave, which he explained to be the essence of magic. It is most intriguing and I can not wait to continue our discussion. Since my old master had spoken to me of the Lady of Spells I have been ever wondering about her. I hope I can learn more from Eson, but he does take a humble position as faithful to her claiming he "is no cleric". Nonetheless I will learn what he knows, maybe I will find something of note in his beliefs.
I also met someone named Malor. It is most fortuitous our meeting occurred for it seems he is a scribe and is able to make copies of spells. I talked to him briefly, he is definitely someone I will seek out when I advance in my skills as a spellcaster.

I have not written for some time since I left Hlint. I don't know what came over me but I need to visit Haven again, to locate my family's farm. Yet when I get near the town my mind grows hazy and slow, I cannot even remember where the farm stands. I got so frustrated I almost vowed to not leave until I found my original home once again. Though I spent a very long time searching I had to concede defeat, nothing can be found whatsoever and I have neglected my study of the art for too long. I have made it back to the town of Hlint and must continue on. On a sidenote I should look into finding some work, maybe someone needs a job done by a aspiring mage. In any case new opportunities will rise just by stepping foot into town I can just feel it.

I have been quite busy the last little while. I'm always meeting new people it seems, two of which are of note. One being a fellow wizard named Zergon and another more recently named Suth who seems to be more of a martial combatant.
Zergon is an interesting fellow, he commands an impressive array of spells some of which he has taught me about and even practiced in front of me. I must admit I was a little shocked when he removed his hood for the first time and I realised that he was a dark elf, he is most definitely fiersome in battle as all accounts go of dark elves. I didn't say anything thinking it would upset him but it I can tell you it was a little unsettling at first, but I have grown to like him within a short period of time. He has taught me a few things on using spells effectively in combat and having spent time together battling ogres in the mountains has developed some bond of trust between us. It's interesting to think back on my first days learning under my master and having similar emotions towards him as I do Zergon, and he was gnome! Maybe I have come a far way since then now that I can accept someone like Zergon. In truth I feel ashamed for feeling threatened by the sight of his black skin, in some way I feel disgusted in myself after having spent time with this man. In time I will be able to forgive myself, but for now I'm happy to have met him.
As for the other man I spoke of, well it was an interesting meeting I must say. His name is Suth, he wears his armor like it was a second skin. He approached me as I was on my way to the inn in Hlint asking if I could talk with him about magic. I found this rather odd considering how he was dressed, I didn't undersand why he was interested. Then the truth of it came out, he was looking at expanding his abilities beyond merely a trained armsman. He wanted combine his martial ability with potent magic. Well that definitely got me interested I can tell you. So we sat on a bench and I explained some basics about arcane spells and the like. I went over the advantages and disadvantages of casting from scrolls or a spellbook mostly but before I had the chance to turnthis all into a long winded lecture he had to leave. Before he left though he asked me a question that was rather surprising. He wanted to become my student and learn under me. Well I was rather shocked but I must admit flattered as well. I don't consider myself to be a great caster of spells or a teacher for that matter, but I decided to take him up on that offer. He is not specifically a wizard and his studies of the arcane will only go so far, I believe then I can help for at the very least I can show him the path on which he wishes to walk. I chuckled to myself when he left, thinking about what my old master would say if he saw me teaching an apprentice of sorts. What would he say indeed?
