I find it fascinating to learn about people's RL and maybe the causal link to their character's behaviour.
As such, I thought i'd throw on a questionnaire into this forum that people might (or might not) like to fill in to let the other people of the layo community know a little more about themselves. Some basic info is in people's profile page I know . . . I suppose if no-one else finds it interesting this thread will die a lonely death!

Danish TV showed a fantastic version in the eighties, most tv nerds, however, claim that version was made in Shanghai, so it might not be the same version. If it was - then I would love to see it again.

I was reading this article, and some of the magic spells certainly do look like NWN spells for some reason. :)
He uses a iron staff, that was originally a Pillar for one of the Dragon King's kingdom. There is a story behind that, but I won't get into that. The iron staff is not your normal iron staff. He can tell it to shrink and grow, and he usually shrinks it to put it in his ear. The staff itself weighs 8.1 tons.
Some of the spells are(source is from the above link):
(1) 72 Transformation (72 Bian)
Allows him to transform himself into anything and anyone. Wu Kong uses it a lot, in all imaginable ways!
(7) Summoning
He can summon the local gods of any place he goes, that is the Earth Gods, Mountain Gods, River Gods, and the like.
(3) Water Avoidance Charm (Bi Shui Jue)
Allows him to survive in deep waters. A major drawback is that he can't fight while using this charm.
(4) Fire Avoidance Charm (Bi Huo Jue)
Allows him to go through fire unharmed. This charm doesn't have the Water Avoidance Charm's drawback.
(6) Lock-Breaking Spell (Jie Suo Fa)
With a point from his finger or magic rod, all locks will open automatically.
(8) Protective Circle
He can build a protective, albeit invisible wall by drawing a circle on the ground with his magic rod. Anyone staying inside the circle will be safe from harm as long as they don't go out. The one time he used it, San Zang was stupid enough to listen to Ba Jie and ignore Wu Kong's instructions and ended up being captured by a demon.
And in one somersault he can travel 108,000li by cloud which is 54000 km. :D (this is definitely not like a NWN spell)
He has the affinity to communicate with the horses and taking care of them, He was appointed as the Stablehand to look after Horses when he arrived in Heaven intending to cause chaos.
Oh and did I say that he is immortal; *won't die of old age) and has 72 lives? :)
Apparently, the Japanese NTV are making another remake of Monkey Magic. And you'll be glad to know Pseudonym that it is coming to Australia soon. :)

The CCTV one you refer is with actors and more or less constantly rerun over there. CCTV also did an animated one in the late 90's but obviously that cant be the one.
The one they showed on Danish TV (and other European countries) seems to be the 1965 version - which is Chinese.

Not exactly monkey magic, more like ape-romancy.
Here's the seller's website. http://www.skullsunlimited.com/ This place rocks! They deal in cast replicas and the real thing. Squirrel monkeys look all cute on the outside, but the skull could easily pass for goblinout with the little fangs. I'll probably go witht he cotton top or golden tamarin though since they have more sinister brow ridges with a toothy grin.

The TV series is based on a novel by Wu Cheng en aptly named Journey to the West. It is a similar read to that of Lord of the Rings and such like. The monk is based on a true person...who indeed made a journey from China to India.
Oh by the way *chuckles* Ice... and those that has that "Take by Air Flight" and you jump across the screen. That is nothing compared to what this guy can do. In one single flip....he can use a cloud to fly 108,000 li....where 1 li is half a km. :p
