Title: Feat suggestions
Post by: trillex on November 29, 2006, 12:35:19 AM
Ah, heck - Might as well start an entire thread full of feats to collect the information in one spot. :)

After having played NWN 2, I've come to miss the feat "Wildshape casting". I can't find such a hak on the Vault, so it might not be possible to do.

It's called Natural Spell, actually.

I'd like to see Monkey Grip, myself, and some Huge size weapons.

A Run feat would also be nice - effectively Barbarian Fast Movement, or perhaps the lowest-level Monk Speed?

An additional Called Shot - Head. Fort save DC equal to the attack roll on a successful hit or Stunned for one round.

Feint - Bluff roll to deny DEX to AC... Opposed check would be Spot, or perhaps Discipline. Use: Selected. Full Attack Action.

Enhanced Turning. +3 Caster Level for purposes of Turning Undead.

Diehard (Prerequisite: Toughness). Automatically stabilize between -1 and -9 HP. Bonus on Soul Mother Saves.

Definitely think Natural Spell would be a great addition.

I think Natural Spell was just yet another way WotC favored divine magic over arcane, and it should never have been created.

maybe, maybe not.  But Natural spell would give druids the much needed boost they need here.

If it's possible, yes. It just feels like there is something missing, when you go from NWN 2 druid to NWN 1.

NWN2 is a different rule set, while largely the same, they are different in important ways.
The question we have to look at is whether or not the ability to cast spells while wildshaped is unbalancing. Some might even argue that the druid class is already quite powerful and has a lot of advantages.
However, short of a serious rewrite of the wildshape code (which is already pretty highly customized for Layo), I don't think we can get beyond the Bioware-imposed limitation on Polymorph/wildshape, which is ultimately what prevents spellcasting while in alternate shapes.
And as a general note, looking at what NWN2 can support and trying to back-port that to NWN1 isn't always going to be productive. The NWN2 game engine supports things that the NWN1 engine simply does not....perhaps even can not without significant modification.
Technical and balance considerations are the kinds of things we look at before even trying to implement things like new feats and spells. That's just a general FYI, not a "we can't/won't do this."
