I was reading through some druid information on LORE when I stumbled upon this:
Temporary Special Notes:
[list=1]
- I am aware that we are lacking in armor and shields that will fill the void of protection and such that druids will now need. The project team is working on this right now and I hope to have it implemented in the next update—but no promises. So… give us a little time and we will make sure that druids have suitable options for their characters.
- I am also aware that druids out there will need to trade in their items for these new special items that will make them fall in line with the druid requests. As such a druid character will be able to trade in up to three weapons and three pieces of armor so that they fall in line with these new rules (and no more than that). A GM will handle the request and will take the old item to be replaced with an EQUAL item. At no time will a new item be more ‘powerful’ than the item replaced.

What exactly does this mean? That there aren't many magical leather items that druids can wear? I thought that the craftable items were quite enough back when I played but it's always awesome to see some interesting stuff coming up for your class. Has this thing been put in effect yet and if so, what kind of items can be traded for those new special items?

I think the statement more refers to shields.
There is a wood shield replacement for every level of metal shield and at this time these wooden shields cannot be crafted, so you need a GM to replace your metal shield for you.

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

As a side note, the same goes for spears, except for the Hickory type which is craftable, every other metal type (iron/admantium...) as to be replace by a GM for its wooden counterpart (oak/mahogany ...)

Exactly correct.
These types should be coming craftable soon.
