Title: nwnplayer.ini question
Post by: pejsaboy on December 01, 2006, 03:26:04 PM
I just enabled chat logging in my nwnplayer.ini [yes I know, I'm horrible for not doing it sooner], and I was curious what a couple of the other options are for. Thanks in advance if you know what they are for and can explain it to me!
Memory Level=1
Memory Access=2
TextBubbleMode=1

text bubble mode is the way speech appears over characters heads when they talk. You can acctually set this IG under Game options. It's whether it displays the portrait or just the text or none over char's heads.

I'm not sure what the memory things are

Memory access if for the blood thingie. 0 = deactivated, 1= activated, 2= special.
As far as I know if Memory level = 2 there should be more blood, never tried it though.

It this is correct then you can also set that in game also. I think it is called violence level. On, off, or special.

Why would you call that Memory level?

Don't ask me, ask bioware. And what Etinfall said, you can set it up in your config as well.

It's a "hidden" feature and they simply tried to "hide" it.

And, well... You are actually not supposed to change that value. ;)

Does it hurt anything to change it though? I changed it to 2 and didn't notice any extra blood. I had it set in game to the 'special' violence level for max carnage and all that, so I don't think that's what the 2 is for cuz it was originally a 1 at special. *shrugs*

Hehe... It does change things... But! If I remember correctly, you had to change another variable too (well, Bioware aren't -completely- stupid!).

And, it doesn't work for some version, I think. Like, the ones released in Germany or something...

The special violence level works for me, kinda scary to see a bird explode and blood, guts and bones go everywhere.  :)

as far as I know there's no reason to mess with it because you can set the blood level in game under options.

I think it was the german version that they had to make it so you couldn't turn on high blood due to some law or something, though the .ini variable may get around that.

got it, guess I'll change it back since I don't notice a difference. Oh, and yes the special option is just great. Especially for the larger creatures ;)
