Title: whats old, is new again...
Post by: Vyris on December 03, 2006, 04:34:50 PM
Well, I discovered that I might have got a trojan that switches off the AGP slot on your MB, and disables it, and does some strange stuff to your Bios. So, after flashing my BIOS and formatting my HDD I am re-installing NwN, again. If all goes well I'll have it all back and ready to go tomorrow, just in time to not play for the next two weeks while I do finals at school. Blah.

Vyris has his fingers crossed.

Which is worse: not having a thing that you want to use, or having a thing but being unable to use it?

*shakes a fist at the quandaries of possession*

I tried a reinstall and flashing the BIOS for a similar problem.  Specifically, the computer boots until a certain time of the window's loading, then the monitor loses signal, following with a complete crash preventing any further action. (no intro sound to indicate a successful loading & no flittering of the " computer is thinking light")  I was told that it's likely a problem with an unstable power supply, so I have one on the way in the mail now.  If replacing that doesn't work, I'm pulling out what meager salvageable peripherals I can and shotputting the barebones off the 5-story parking garage on campus.  If all goes well, at least it will hit a bikeshorts rentacop.
