Can someone help me setup a wizard? I am thouroughly confused on how to set up one.

Some tips on how to set up a wizard, in addition to setting up the background of the character..where he comes from....what his/her personalities are, what you need to do is to flesh  out how your wizard came have an interest in the weave. How did they meet their mentor?
