Post by: ShiffDrgnhrt on January 21, 2007, 05:26:17 PM
How does someone go about Setting up a guild?  I'm interested in organizing one, and I'm wondering how to do that at some point.  i'm not experienced enough with whats goin on in Layo to be able to make something that will last...

I wish you all the best in your efforts; it is not an easy task to start and, more importantly, maintain a guild.

There are two things need to maintain an organisation, starting an organisation is already well documented in Lore, (1) People and (2) Purpose.

[yellow]People[/yellow], are the core element you need.  You need people who are committed to playing characters and attending events over the long term.

The [yellow]Purpose[/yellow] of the organisation and it's goals are important for it to succeed.  There are many existing organisations out there that you may be able to join.  The most common purpose is a trade guild.  There are many trade guilds running in the game.  However there are only a finite number of customers.  Try to make your purpose unique.  The purpose should meet the needs of the characters, this will keep people comming back each week.  If there is already an organisation with a similar purpose considers joining it, assuming you can make contact.  I would expect that most organisations would welcome new member with the appropriate background, apart from the 'clandestine' organisations of course.

Cheers,

Stragen

I'd say they're critical.

Though it's a challenge to create a mission that is narrow enough to have focus but wide enough to keep a large enough group of members.
