Title: Change Max Dex on Some Base Armour Types
Post by: stragen on February 04, 2007, 10:32:46 PM
The current base armour stats from Oxmallards armour list:

Chain Shirt:  Base AC 4, Max dex 4
Scale Mail:   Base AC 4, Max dex 4
Chain Mail:   Base AC 5, Max dex 2
Splint Mail:  Base AC 6, Max dex 1
Banded Mail:  Base AC 6, Max dex 1
Half Plate:   Base AC 7, Max dex 1
Full Plate:   Base AC 8, Max dex 1

Notice that for chain shirt, scale mail and half-plate, the Base AC and Max Dex sum to 8.  If anyone ever deciedes to tinker with base armour stats, I would suggest that the max dex for chain mail, splint mail and banded mail be increase by 1.  Then with the exception of full plate they would all sum to 8.

Giving:

Chain Shirt:  Base AC 4, Max dex 4
Scale Mail:   Base AC 4, Max dex 4
Chain Mail:   Base AC 5, Max dex 3
Splint Mail:  Base AC 6, Max dex 2
Banded Mail:  Base AC 6, Max dex 2
Half Plate:   Base AC 7, Max dex 1
Full Plate:   Base AC 8, Max dex 1

Is the reason for the current armour system in NWN historical from D&D armour stats?

Im pretty sure this is hardcoded into the game. And therefore this is liklely never gonna going to be happen. But I hear you, its a shame people dont use those inbetween heavy armors some more.

Not in any version I've ever played... then again I went from 2ED to 3.5 so I'm not positive what 3.0 (which is what nwn is based on) was.

And as Blackguy said this is sadly hardcoded.

Couldn't you then add a +1 and make that a lower level requirement then is currently?  Though I suppose that adds it's own problems with level requirements.

Then what would be the point of having iron versions of those armors?

Unfortunately, the armour wouldn't look the same.  Base AC is based on armour torso, and that's hardcoded into the game.  So you'd get a chain shirt that looked like leathers, etc.  Really, there's no good way around it.

To Stragens Origional post.
A simple 2da change.
I've opinions on the matter but I thought I would point out the 'how' and 'how hard' of it.
