Title: persistant chest question

Hello,

There are certain chests in the land, I know of two, that are always at the end of dungeons, and the boss has a key to open them.  Usually they are empty.  I have been putting stuff in them when I leave.  Are these items staying in them for the next adventurers who open them or am I wasting stuff?  If things stay in them I will continue to put stuff in the chests, if not I won't.

These chests are intended to respawn after a period of time with the intended boss treasure after a given amount of time, but they only do this if they're empty.
  They are NOT persistent, however, as any items one may put into them will disappear on a reset.
