Title: Tell Etiquette Question
Post by: Kirbiana on February 14, 2007, 07:47:21 AM
I haven't played online anywhere but Layonara, and I have a question foryou more experienced gamers. Last night, I had a brief interaction with a very new player, and then later passed by that PC as I was going through Hlint. I didn't realize until after I went through the transition that the personhad spoken to me again, and so I sent a tell back saying, "Sorry, I didn't realize you were trying to say something to me." I was just trying to apologize for not stopping to chat, but the person sent a tell back saying, "Well, thanks so much for shouting back at me!!!" Umm...were they trying to be funny, or are there PW's out there where sending any kind of tell is construed as shouting or scolding someone? I was rather non-plussed at their response, and don't want to offend any other new players inadventantly in the future.

I'll go so far as to wager it was a joke. That's all Tells are good for really, being stupid.:)

Sounds like that's what the other person was doing.. being silly.    Tell's are good for avoiding miscommunications IMO.

I'd say that was a very good use of a tell.

Kirbiana, just for your reference here's the official guideline about tells on Layo. Feel free to ask more questions about them if you like however, this is a good place to get things clarified *smiles*
