This has come up from time to time, but say your character has a long elven name with apostrophe's and glottal stops...how do you pronounce it? In Honora's WLDQ app, she gives a phonetic pronunciation (Honor-Ah) rather than what we have heard (ah-NOR-ah) Granted some names are simple to guess (Zug) While others can be a bit confusing (Tath Zo'layum - Za'kodum) Nothing wrong, but I would llikely murder it if I tried to pronounce it?
So how do you pronounce your characters name? Those odfus that are mundane (Galen Tweed), well, we need some help.

GAH-Leen Twuh-EE-Duh.
Leastways that's how I pronounce it!
*will be sleeping on the couch tonight, yes she will :P*
-
Sean Black should sound a bit like "seen black"....
-
Zug -> ZUHG (As you point out, really obvious on this one, preferably really harsh. And LOUD.)
Aeoleth Ellyn -> AY-oh-leth ELL-in
Eamon Michaels -> AY-mon MY-kells
Ruh Zraht-hatubnot -> ROO ZRAHT-ha-TOOB-naht
-
Caelte Amargein = KAYL-tee aw-VEER-een
Yep, that's not a severe typo. It's Olde Irish, ya know.
-
Somewhat dated but here's some:

Right This looks fun:
Rhynn is just Rin.
Her full name however is pronounced: Rin-allah Ah-san-tee-an.
Saebhel is : Say-bell
======
Shri'Vrae is simple: Shree - VrA (long A there). She however pronounces/deceives others by calling herself Sheree (Sheh-ree)
===
Xyrae Venari -- Zeye-ray Ven-are-ree
===
Wynry -- Win-ree

The name "Alleina" is actually the part I'm most proud of to have created during the submission of the said character.
It's comming from the German word "Allein" which means "single, solo, lone" and is a very good description of the original character (shyness and the fact that she was left alone just after her birth due to her parents dying). The added "a" was simply to make the name look more suitable for a female character... and... heh... it can be classified as eye-candy, I guess ("Allein" feels somehow "cut of" in the English language point of view).
Pronounciation... Right... It should -not- be pronounced in the German way. *Shudders.* German is a such "harsh" language and very unfit to pronounce an "elven name".
Instead, use a soft voice and say something like: Ah-LEI-nah
-
hehe I always thought it was Al-ee-nah, you live and learn! :)
Ranéwin - I do wonder how many ways people say this but was intended to be: Ran-Aww-Win/Ran-Arr-Win
-
PEER-ran RAHth.
SHU Lin
GROK. :)
T-YAY-ann
SEV-uh-ren
-
Cel-gar
-
KARN!
ELZ-HAB-ELL TEAR-NEL-DTH
DEE-ON DARK-LASH
-
Dur'Thak (Dur - like the first syllable in duration, glottal stop, and Thack - like whack with a T. Very sharply spoken. The name as a whole sounds very harsh whenever spoken.)
Grinnash (Grin, as normal but the n sound is almost doubled, nash. Over all the word kind of rolls like its going down hill - grinnash)
-
Let's see....
Nehetsrev Llun = Neh-hets-rev Lun
Treana Min E'Zoenna = Tree-an-ah Min Eh-Zoe-ehn-ah
Melanna Jin'Daern = Mel-ah-na Jin-Day-urn
Lyle Underroot = LI-el Un-der-root
I'm terrible with phonetic spellings....hope those are about right. And that's a long-I sound in Lyle, by the way.
-
Oh, and for my forum name (which is my legal name as well)...
STEE-ven ZUCK-er-man. *Chuckles.*

-
Gill(like a fish)-shem eye-ron-stone
Ge-lair-e-an (as in Gecko, I would hate if it was pronounced Ge as in hair gel)
Tristan (like with Iseult) Duh-Moi-a (moi is like a really thick Quebecois accent, if you don't know what I am talking about, get to Lac St. Jean for a Pepsi, Poutine, and Cinquante, if you don't know why any of those are funny, start in Montreal)
-
Iago Fionne = Eee ah go Fee own
.....great, just great. Now I'm going to be alternating between giggling about Pepsi, and really missing poutine.
-
Tah Let Reel - Tear nel deth
Hec Tor
Grote
-
Sall - a - ron - Sallaron
G - A - K - Gak
Sara Sez - aine - Sara Sezane
As you can see....I aint too complicated.
Oh...
Ste - phen Cov - er - dale or....er....... Lord - Cove
-
Wow, more Stephens? *Blinks.* Seems to be a pretty awesome name. ;)
-
LUN-CH BOX KILL UH
-
If Shiff (like Sniff, Whiff, Biff... etc) Dragonheart (Dragon + heart) is hard to say...
But Latherian... (Lah THair e in, not Lah THERE e in... its THair, like Hair the a THH sound) Leefwalker (leaf+walker...duh) i could understand.
And then there is Yukimura (You key murr ah) Hyoujin (Ha+yo gin)
-
Not especially tricky, as I tried to use classical nomenclature..
TIM-ul-tee KEEL (As in the boat-part)
And, for my second character
AIR-ah-MEE-sah DAH-moose
(Aramisa Damus)
-
Ael'Rynth d'lil Maethra
El(stress this syllable, short e as in "bell")-Rinth (short i as in "bin") day-lul (sounds like "u" in "skull") My-a (stress this syllable, long a as in "may") - thruh (short u as in "up"; give the "r" a bit of a trill ;) )
So without the annotations: El-Rinth day-lul My-a-thruh
Krysthalien Dawnstar
Chris-thay (stress this syllable)-ee-un Dawnstar (how can you mispronounce this? :P )
-
Till-E :)
-
Why do some of you make the descriptions so incredibly complicated? Pronunciation Key (http://dictionary.reference.com/help/luna/Spell_pron_key.html)
ah-meh-lee lin (Ameli Lihn)
jhad-sey-ah (Jhad'zea)

Talan Va'lash - ta-LAN va-LASH
