Title: Forum / IRC Downtime Info

The forum server was shut down today for some hardware upgrades (2Gig of RAM being installed) and due to faulty RAM chips the server was down for longer than the expected time.

After much debugging and verification it was decided to re-install the original RAM and new chips were ordered.

The Forums and IRC are obviously back up but the server will go down again sometime this week once the new chips arrive.

Sorry for the inconvenience of this unscheduled downtime.

There will be at least an hour of notice prior to the second attempt at this RAM upgrade.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your patience in these matters while we are stablizing the new home of the Layonara forums.

Where do the servers physically live and who physically works on them? Is it a member of the Layo team or done one their behalf by the server hosters?

I fail to see how this is at all relevant but I'll answer anyways...

The server is hosted in Montreal Canada and is housed by our partner Netelligent. All hardware upgrades must be done by their capable technicians who are on-site at the drop of a hat for us. This particular hardware request was put in last night at around 9pm and I delayed the actual installation until this afternoon due to personal scheduling conflicts (day job comes first being that Layonara is not generating any significant revenues at this time).

They are in Montreal and are good friends of OneST8 and I's.  Ask OneST8 about his trip out there ;)
