Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Nerd auctions off old D&D boxed sets to help pay server costs!
That's it, folks... There's far more info in the auctions themselves, but here's the basics:
I am auctioning off several boxed sets in fine condition, and am having the proceeds donated to Layonara to help pay server costs.
Offered are:
Karameikos - Kingdom of Adventure
Champions of Mystara - Heroes of the Princess Ark
Night of the Vampire
All are in the Mystara campaign setting, and all have all of the original material right there in the boxes. While the boxes themselves aren't in very good condition, everything inside is lovely and undamaged.
Sure, you could download these sets for about five bucks a pop from our virtual stores... However, you wouldn't have the material there in front of you; you wouldn't have the included audio CDs with ambiance and dialogue; you wouldn't have the maps or the handouts...
And most importantly, you wouldn't be offering as much help to the cost of these servers, which are hundreds and hundreds of dollars each month, right out of Leanthar's pocket.
The basic idea of this is that you lot will bid on these, then, when the bidding is done, the winner will send half of the final price to Leanthar via their preferred method. When I receive confirmation that that payment's gone through, I send off whatever they've just bought, and then when it arrives, the winning bidder sends the rest of the money on to L.
These auctions, I should note, are not "officially" endorsed by Layonara Studios, LLC. However, the Big Guy's glad to see the Classifieds actually being used... ;) It's a great system. Let's put it through its paces.
After all, I'm running out of stuff to offer. *Laughs.*
