I thought, since there's been time for some of the bugs to settle out of the V3 rollout, that it was about time that we started going through the things we've been particularly enamoured of as we explore the shiny new toy that is V3.
I could go to lengths about the glory that is the new tilesets, or the gorgeous vista available from near Blackford castle, but probably my favourite moment in V3 (quests aside) so far would be fairly mundane:
The first time I attacked one of the new and improved Red Light Goblins. The border guard, all by his lonesome, the perfect target for a stealthy character. Kell snuck up there, drew his sword... and hit the goblin for a perfect sneak attack, for twenty-eight damage... and the little monster didn't fall! In fact, he didn't fall until he'd absorbed sixty-plus points of damage! Words cannot describe how cool it was to see such a simple, mundane thing changing in such a way... it put me in a positive mood for what I would come across next in V3 (even though the Goblin Scouts perforated Kell minutes later. ;) )
What was that *ping* moment for other people?
I'd like to hear what people found/are finding neat... and I'm certain the team that worked so hard on it would like that as well. :)

I stepped out to the fields, entered the area of Dapplegreen Outskirts. The new forest tileset hypnotized me for a long time and I spent a while just sitting by the 'lake', watching the area around me. It was a visual ping. Just like darkstorme, I was fooled by the new Goblins near Hlint, in pretty much the same manner. I am sure many others experienced that as well. I also like the Mongrelmen in the Gloom Woods, in all their disturbing glory (if they existed prior to V3, I never ran across them).

Stumbling across the Stormcrest guides shack/area after the 3.0.3 update... I saw a path that I hadn't seen before, and was very pleasantly surprised with where I ended up...

Some RP with "Tomas the Archer" (played by Falonthas I think), that brought out a side of my character that I don't get to play very often. Honestly, it's been some of the most fun RP I've had since joining Layo, and it would have been impossible before the new character creation rules that came with V3.

For Jacchri:
I have to say Firesteep.
Went there on a trip one night and truly loved the "new" Firesteep.
And then being a ranger character I have to say I love the new forest settings, all of them.
For Rakan:
Going alone into the red lights to see what the big fuss was about and being killed twice before I figured out how to handle them. Then reaching the lowest level and meeting the eilte goblins and being killed twice more and not been back yet to try defeat them.

There have been many memorable moments since V3 rolled out ... but one of my "favourites":
Arynne meanders into an updated area. Okay, fine. Stealths in, because I'm not an idiot.
Arynne gets a glimpse of the little scorpions patrolling the area. Arynne's player notices the scorpions are realistic enough to make her feel a bit uncomfortable.
Arynne catches sight of one of the BIG scorpions.
Arynne's player runs her screaming out of the area .. and takes a full 20 minutes to calm down and remember that the scorpions are, in fact, not real.
Anything that realistic gets my vote!
Then again, I once screamed in the OC when a spider surprised me. Turns out, I'm a bit of a chicken.

Definitely the new firesteep! It's awesome and it was really fun, especially when Talan helped spice it a little for us.

Hammerbound peaks. Totally awesome. These mountains, and mountain areas similar to this one have taken the 3D aspect of NWN to a new and stunning level. Black Ice too, incredible improvements on both graphics and creature spawns. I also like all the new swamps, they much more swamp like then what we had before.
I greatly appreciate that characters level 9 to 12 have less of an XP grind then before, and much more fun things to do on the west server.

Logging into V3 for the first time as a player.

Black Dog Moors
That area is so creepy I literally had a chill run up my spine. After shaking it away I turned in the skeleton fingers and ran out, and I don't plan on returning anytime soon.

Dapplegreen Outskirts, like Kindo - entering this area for the first time was amazing... (a few can tell the amounts of tell-spam I sent them that contained "MOMOMOMGOMG CHECK THIS OUT HOLLY MOTHER OF COWSS")
Then the Battlehelm Moors.... I was -SCARED- to enter this place :P

id have to agree with aragwen , Firesteep looks amazing and the new set up is much more of a challange .. but the best moment was going up the hill to meet and meeting ???????

My very first V3 journey was from Leringard to Fort Llast, and the changes at Blackford Castle literally took my breath away. Coming right on the heels of the Queen's leave-taking, when I entered that tangled mass of trees on the old bumpy road and saw the complete absence of troops and commoners... wow, talk about story-telling with scenery alone! It was eerie and just perfect.

Imagine This as your first V3 Moment... Two Trolls fighting over who gets to die first....(http://www.layonara.com/photopost/data/500/Troll_Fighting.JPG)

I love the new firesteep. So pretty, less of a challenge too! I love it.

Picking my way up the hill at Firesteep, and then looking out...
Finding my way down to the tavern in Hurm...
Looking over my shoulder in Vehl...
Looking UP in Hemp.

The swamps, for sure. They terrify me. I will not even dream of setting foot in one at night for fear of becoming lost on the twisted and gnarled earth.
