Greetings all,
I've been reading through the handbook and have a question. First off, let me state that the handbook is very well put together. You guys have worked your collective butts off to develope one heck of an emersive world. Kudos!
Now the question, Why have some of the place names changed? Sielwood to Silkwood, Port Hamshire to Port Hempstead, for examples.
Just curious.
Once again, excellent job you guys...

I could be wrong....but I think L was not wanting to use any names that may have been previously copy-writed or used in books/games and such.
Some of the previous names used I recall being in NWN and had heard of others. This way everything in Layo is now original.

Yup, that's basically it Cove.
We're trying to move as far away from Dungeons and Dragons, Forgotten Realms, etc as we possibly can. So that , ideally while being based on the NWN tool set (not out of choice I'd wager to guess), we're still our own place with nothing (almost) in common with the copyrighted worlds.

Ah, dodging the old "Intellectual property" issues.

Because of the copyright thing as already mentioned above.
There will be a new one in the near future though.
