I have been told changes have been made to tenser's transformation, and I was wonder what changes were made, I was told to check the players handbook, but the current does not list any changes for it.
#1 Does it still turn you into to a doomknight? O.o
#2 what exactly are the changes in it, being with this spell any changes made are pretty important, you would want to know before getting it.

Try this link:

LORE is a great feature for spell descriptions. It's under the Layonara links dropdown and once you get there if you click the word Query it lets you search.

Not exactly what I was looking for but thank you :D
As I said details of changes are needed. That is pretty much the basic DnD book listing of it. which the doom knight mimic's. I am sure the doom knight part was removed, (it ugly as sin, and have seen few servers be able to handle the look or uberness of it, but mainly the ugly look)
-
LORE is the place to go for any ingame spell effects and such. Unfortunately the spell does make the caster skin go into a doom knight while the spell is in effect if i am not mistaken.
-
Hmm, al'right So it seems only the need for components are needed for it have been the only change, thank you. I ask because the doomknight form has a few things about it. thanks for your reply!:D

I'm pretty sure the stats of the creature you polymorph into have been modified to be in line with the general server balance, however, I do not know what those changes are and they are not documented anywhere afaik if they have been changed from bioware default.
-
meh... i never liked the spell... i had a level 20 dwarven defender (multi-classed from a fighter) use a potion of it and actually fought worse while the spell was in effect

It is usually perceived as one of the strongest spells in game, though...
Together with self-buffs wizards are capable of, it tend to make them as good (or even better) fighters than what... eh... fighters are.
Not that anyone would be insane enough to use this spell constantly as a replacement for true fighters. Limited duration after all... :p

A fighter of equivalent level buffed by a wizard is far better than a wizard with tensors.
Fighters also have a longer duration *winks*

The later is of course true while the first might or might not be.
Wizards have access to some self-only spells like Shadow Shield. Fighters are most probably still better to deal out raw damage than a Tensered wizard, while the last is most probably having a higher survivability than the first (especially if you start to toss in the epic defence spells!). :)
Erh... that is... higher survivability until the spell expires. :D
Edit: Hah! Point taken there, Acacea!

try extend spell while buffed with flame weapon, and spells that when you take damage, deal damage back, while it not good as polymorph self the 9th level version, it only takes up a 6th level spell. and the old doomknight version has a exploit built in, that makes it where you can do around 70 damage a hit at level 20. that does not include crits.
higher level I have seen a level 32 pump out 130 damage hit with longsword.
and there a even more nasty exploit. the spell is rather useful when it setup right, but doomnight version is just not worth it. for example you don't get to the choose the weapon you wield. How does a char go from having a mace, to a two handed sword? lol let alone the big skull head, I don't know what bioware was think when they did that.

Oh I have used that spell constantly sometimes you just feel the need to bash things, and with haste and extended T.T with flame weapon your just as good as any warrior. you have a lower crit range but you have the buffs.
And with extended it lasts a good long while so when your out of spells, T.T away!

Right up until they fail a Will save.

When you cast Tenser's, you also lose some prepared spells. And with our restriction on only being able to rest once every ten minutes, that might not be such a good thing.

Wait, you can rest every 10 minutes!?!?!?:D
on my old server it was every 30ish Wow that just, well I don't know how to explain what that is, one reason T.T. was so hot was with extend you could battle 5 minutes per a cast, and if you had about 6 you had your rest time there. Nothing like being a mage with no spells for about for 30 minutes.
think I know how to explain it now, joy.

If I recall, the weapon the "doomknight" wields has been decreased in power, as has his stats. I'm not sure if anything else has been changed. If someone lets me know the details, I'll make them available on LORE. It's still an effective spell, just not nearly as powerful in terms of damage like it used to be.
-
For Tenser's to last five minutes, even extended, you'd have to be a level twenty-five caster.
We have maybe four or five wiz/sorcs of that level, and I don't think any of them use it.
Oh, and you'd need the second-tier Eschew feat to not be going through Bull's potions like gatorade, and those things aren't exactly easy to make.
That's all aside from the fact that you'd likely LOSE some of those prepared TTs when you cast one of 'em, if I understand the ancient discussion well enough.

Tenser is fun when you just got it. Personally I lost interest in the spell pretty quickly. You start to keep it for emergencies until you get premonition basically.
EDIT: And yes, those wizard buffs look much better on a fighter. :)
-
MAybe not good for a pure wizard, but a paladin/wizard... *goes off to plot the destruction of evil-doers everywhere*
-
Oh I love it, love it alot, you just got to know what you can use it against, or when to use it. I find it best used with premoniton. can't kill everything with a instant death spell, and magic does not always work sometimes you just need a basher class.
and I can understand alot of dislike for it, the doomknight version takes alot of fun out of the spell. when you make it to keep your human form, it allows you to use your OWN weapon. instead of magically get one. make it alot more fun because you can do more with it, so we come from different backgrounds on that one. just the doom knight alone a big fun kill.
-
I know it does have the appearance of a Doom Knight but not sure if the stats are the same. I've fought a few and I think Tenser's is stronger by far. Really fun spell!
