As I have mentioned before, these are an excellent idea for supporting Layonara Online. I am scheduling our next Donate Your Level Day for this coming 16 June.

I am hoping we can hold these events quarterly. So I have scheduled Level Days for later in the year, September and December.

Myself, I continue to donate because I am very enthusiastic about Layos future. I am very keen about this idea of developing software independent of that offered by the big gaming software companies. From what I understand, this step L and the team will take in the near future will keep Layo around long after Nwn is long gone.
High on my wish list as a Layo player is this - that we can continue to enjoy Version 3 of Layonara right up to the time when we switch over to the new system presently being developed. And one very effective way to ensure this is by donating.
One way to look at it - making donations is more like a good habit that you must first acquire through effort. And by this I mean that it is all too easy to spend a significant amount of time here without paying a single penny. Yet you clearly get some value or benefit if you spend a lot of time here - participating in all Layonara has to offer is something that you want to do.
Now most people can be very innovative in obtaining something they really want, overcoming impediments such as being a minor, not having a credit card, or not trusting e-commerce, to name a few of the rationalizations folks have given for not donating.
The short of what I am getting at is that every single one of you reading this has the ability to donate, and I ask those who do not do so to make a simple paradigm shift and start getting into the good habit of donating to support Layonara Online. You can find a way to donate; it is affordable and money well spent; and like all other good habits, you will have wished that you had cultivated the habit should you ever have to face the consequences of your failure to do so.

Thanks folks. I really appreciate drives like this, it goes a long way with helping to keep the costs of the game servers, database servers, forum servers, lore servers, character servers etc. under control.
This drive raised $595 over the weekend. Around the cost of 1 month of payments for all of our servers mentioned above. This really does help.

I think Darkstorme just couldn't resist gloating that for the first time in his lifetime, the Canadian and US dollars are pretty much at parity. I have to admit, it's a bit strange not to have to do the math for the conversion!

Unfortunately I don't own a check book, nor do I know how to fill a money order.. and sending either of those or cash through the mail would take weeks at best, and has a chance of ending "missing". So I wouldn't take the risk..
If someone wants to help me and the community out by giving a bank account number (which I doubt really!), and of course the person would have to able to send the money further along so it would reach it's destination one way or another.. I could make a transfer of currency to his/her account, and so forth... But really, heh, sounds dubious and all... but as I see it, it's the only chance for me to get money through at this point.
(Hoping to get a Visa -eligible card soon!)

For all you bank account holders out that that don't have a credit card, get a paypal account!
Paypal is now available in 190 countries (that's nearly all of them), in 21 of these you can transfer money from your in-country bank account to your paypal account and then on to anywhere they accept Paypal. How convenient is that? ;)

Thanks for all of the help folks. We had two large donations this round and in total there was $615 donated. That does the trick for almost two months since we have decreased the number of servers used.

$10 isn't much but if everyone gave at least $10 it would start to add up.
Everyone should be able to give up... a cup of their Starbucks coffee, a movie ticket, a stop at a fast food restaurant, a couple of packs of cigarettes, a pack of beer *dodges the empty beer cans* or a couple of movie rentals etc. to donate $10. Plus it is the season for giving. ;)
We all come here to play, rant and rave. We all should try to give at least a small bit back.

This time around we had 8 donations in total (for the past 7 days, including today). Not nearly as good as the last drives but still quite helpful in keeping the servers up. One donation was quite large and another was heft, you raised $345 this time around.
Thank you to everybody who donated, we very much appreciate the efforts and thoughts.

Well, here starts me slowly catching up on all those DYL Days... Very slowly.

Most of you recall that last year, we conducted this very successful fundraiser called Donate Your Level Day every three months. The time has rolled around again, and given that all of us live a variety of distant time zones, this time around it will be Donate Your Level Weekend.
For those of you recent newcomers, please sum the levels of your active character(s) and donate that amount, using the Donate link in the upper right hand corner of the page you are viewing.
I reiterate what I have said before, that I hope we can keep the servers running all the way up until the advent of Layo`s next generation game that the team is presently developing. By donating, you help ensure this will happen.
It is all too easy to take this wonderful experience for granted and not donate. For those of you facing any hesitation about doing so, I ask you to view the choice as one of cultivating a good habit. We all know that getting good habits is often not easy, but it is always worthwhile; and I am certain you all agree that keeping Layonara Online alive continuously through the time we change over to the newly developed game is very much worthwhile.
I hope all of you join me in continuing our support of Layo in this upcoming fundraiser.
