Right here goes nothing
In 8 days some new flight tickets will be available on the markets which are somewhat cheaper than what is normally known of. So
In August I am going to Mexico for 2,5 weeks as I know some from my old bag-packing days there (going for a weeding actually). BUT I found out that it is way cheaper to make a stop in the US before flying back home (with these new tickets).
Question is where to go in the states (for around 4-5 days)? And if I may be so bold.
Does anyone whom I played Layo with the last 3 years wanna see Varka face in RL?
I have already met some of the Danes from Layo last year and we had some barbeque.;)
May some of the players I usually spend my time with on layo think this idea is foolish but amusing enough to pull it through. Then post below!
Would be fun to get some US culture under my wings. :)
Well I will try to post something more under Introduce myself, so you know that I am not a loon.
PS: 20.08-24.08 that is the dates I could be in the States.
Thanks,
Thomas

It's all a matter of 'where' in the States you are going to end up.
Someone living in Maine can't give tips about what to do in Texas, that sorta thing.

Without having decided anything 100% at this point. I would say:
1)
San Francisco
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
or
2)
NewYork
Washington
Boston
As you see California is pretty high on my list.
Again having 4-5 days is not much.

Btw. I live here

Bah , Yeah okay skip right over me I see how it is lol

1)
San Francisco - A good choice, lots to do and see.
Las Vegas - Overrated and glitzy in my opinion, Reno is better IMO.
Los Angeles - No desire to go back there again.
or
2)
NewYork - Not been there but would love to go.
Washington - Great place to visit as well
Boston - Same as New York.
-
If you choose California, I would skip Los Angeles and visit San Diego instead. I had a great time there during a road trip.
Vegas is well... Vegas. One day is enough and its not what you think it is - or hope you'll find there.
San Francisco was awesome.
You can call me though and ask questions if you like.

When I was out traveling last summer I visted a few of my fellow Layo players as well *waves to Yllyleron/Krysthalien and Cray* so I think it's a great idea. You know, Leanthar himself lives in Cali. And if you're in the states for a few days, you could easily take a few day trips up and down Cali's coastline and see San Fran, San Diego (awesome zoo), even L.A.
I'm a Texas boy, and could tell you about some pretty swell places here, but Cali's pretty rockin' too, and you seem to be really interested in it.
Oh, and if you get the chance, head up into the mountains and see the national parks. Cali's got trees as big around as your house.

I would second Harlas's opinion of San Diego. I think it's one of the best cities in all of the world. San Francisco is great too.
-
So much L.A. bashing!
Actually they're right.. Don't bother coming here, at least unless you have really good friends to show you around, because otherwise you'll be stuck in traffic for the length of your trip.. San Franciso is really fun though
-
I'm not an American (G'day mate <-- see, an Aussie) but from the experience of my travels there, i'd go North-East (option 2) if I only had a few days.
New York - what can you say?
Washington - even just the museum strip makes it worth it if that's your thing.
PS. I hope you're going to Mexico for a wedding, I think the other is still illegal.
:)

Thanks for the advice here lads and lass :)
Harlas, I will call you later and btw. Sunday around 12.30 we are in Aarhus. So late brunch downtown or at your place?
What fits best into your plans?

ya'll are insane...
all those big cities.. bah humbug. Small towns are where its at..
then again, I've never been to NY or CA... I like my woods in the midwest ;)

San Francisco and San Diego it is!
So folks, may you live around there (or in reasonable distance) PM or post here may you want to see da Dane!

Avoid my hometown Orlando, the Plastic City at all costs. They take all your money in one day, make you stand in line for 2 hours at a time and all you get to see for your trouble is a floor show of animatronic muppets... either that or you visit the bar scene downtown where everyone's fake and you can't walk more than 2 feet without some maladjusted jock wanting to fight; who promptly flees behind his "bros" once you proceed in doing so.
I still don't know what I'm doing here. The traffics bad, the people are worse and all the cops think they're a one-man SWAT Team. "I just clocked you going 27 in a 25... GET DOWN! GET DOWN NOW OR I'LL SHOOT!" "but I am down!" "HA! You Contradict me? RESISTING ARREST!" *pow pow pow*
