I noticed today that the bindstone has an option that I have never noticed before. Maybe it's because I never clicked on it when I was dead but it was new to me. It said "forfiet your full recovery and portal back to ..." where I had died. How does that work? Would you go back and have to wait 15 min per level to recover? I was just wondering since I had never seen this before. Thanks.

If you do that you portal back to where you died, which generally isn't a good idea because whatever you died to might still be there.
-
thats always been there...
-
It is just 5 min per level and yes you'll still need to recover and yes it has been always there.
-
Actually, it is 5 minutes per reflection (which are set at 2x character level)... or to make it easy 10 min/level. If you forfeit recovery, you get sent back to where your grave was but have to wait the entire time anyway... not smart in a dangerous area.
I used to think this meant that all your stats would be -4 permanently.... :)

Thanks for the answers. I guess I just never looked at the bind stone after I died while I was still dead. Thanks again.

i have always wondered what the point of that option is for ..what reason would there be for a dead person to Port back to somewhere even if a party is there waiting ...would anyone like to give an example of a good reason why you would like to use this
thanks

43587349587345 areas into the Underdark, you need emeralds. You die your third death (hopefully no DTs) but you still need the emmies and the party is good to go?

Also, just because none of us actually roleplay the time it takes to travel back from one's bind point (days, weeks, sometimes months IC over continents), it's kind of cool to have an option that allows immediate transportation to where your friends are there, fighting bravely, possibly dying etc... Sort of a, "forget my own life, I have to return to the fray and aid them!" kind of option. Say, a mage that weakly casts invisibility after returning, but left his whole party behind fighting a bloody battle against ogres... forces himself back to where he fell, forfeiting his recovery to use a bag of healing potions etc.
There's not a lot of mechanical point except in cases like Lynn said above, where you're fifty thousand leagues under the sea or something, but I have on occasion seen it used, especially when roleplaying more dramatically instead of simply trotting for 2 seconds across the whole of Dregar to rejoin. Sure a lot harder to live with though, especially at higher levels.

Or your the party cleric and they need you to raise the rest of the party so you can get what you your looking for. It's like taking one for the team.

This is actually an option from a while ago when it's use was the same, but the effects of death was quite different. Ages ago, when Layonara was still in it's beta days, death carried a serious XP penalty. I've lost upwards of 500,000xp multiple times, and smaller (hah!) amounts hundreds of other times. This was along with the same risk of Death Tokens.
When you prayed at your bindstone after death you were awarded with half of the XP you lost. Using that option teleported you to your place of death at the cost of your Xp. So, you would be ready to go, but short a whole lot of XP. Make sense?
