This morning, at 6am, my parents and I headed to the Upper Valley Medical Center hospital to check in for my surgery. We were told to go to the second floor, where a nurse lead us to a room to wait in.
Things were pretty calm. I wasn't too nervous yet, more curious of the things around me. A woman came in and hooked up my IV through my hand and put in some chemicals to keep the anesthesia from making me sick later on and also to keep the pain to a minimum. I have to admit, I got a little nervous and ended up crying at that point... Not feeling well and the idea of going under was suddenly very intimidating.
Either way, I got over it. The anesthesia nurses came in, described the procedure, and gave me some of that knock out stuff we all love to calm my nerves. The rest is history. My parents said I yawned thrice, got a haze in my eyes, and fell asleep.
I woke up in the place called the recovery room afterwards...I had something important to say to the nurse, but it came out something similar to "muhwuhrwrwraa"...She looked at me, then went back to her business. I had those oxygen tubes stuck up my nose, and for whatever reason, I couldn't swallow very easily. Either way, once I was able to talk coherently, they wheeled me out of the recovery room in the post operation room...As a side note, has anyone noticed that every room looks alike?
Either way, my parents eventually came in. It was a sure diagnosis now that I had endometriosis. One of the sores on my uterus had burst, which was why I was in so much pain. The nurse wanted me to go to the washroom, but walking was difficult... I was so terribly dizzy.
So, with all that said and done, they took out my IV, let me change back out of my hospital gown, and pushed me out of the building in a wheelchair.
Pretty cool, huh?
The actual suture isn't too large...I'd say about two inches long below the bellybutton. I got to see pictures of my insides! Very attractive.
So, yeah, that's the deal there. :)
*Forgive my bad writing... Vicodin does that. Just relayed the story for you guys, can't really be creative with it right now.

You have been in my thoughts all morning. Glad to hear it is over and they found out what was causing the pain. Hopefully now with treatment all of that will go away soon.

Wow. So since thbey know for sure what it is, they can help keep it, and subsequently the pain, under control? Right?

Wow. Im glad to hear you're okay! I do know a bit about Endometriosis. Its not a very nice thing to have. Glad to hear you didn't get the worse of it and its treatable.

To miltonyorkcastle: Yeah its treatable, and with the scarred sores removed, she shouldnt be in any pain from that anymore. Medication for a bit should keep it all under control

The actual treatment will be shots and medications for it until it's under control... Pain wise, well, I'm not too sure on that. I should start to get better whenever I next go to the doc's for the things.

Well, as I'm assuming they didn't treat the disease in the same session (or you might've mentioned it), you're due for another surgery that will... Well, be basically the same thing as this time around.
I'm glad you got out of there fine, and yes, hydrocodone (vicodin) is good stuff for pain. Percodan's better, but thankfully you didn't need it. :)
Though, by the by, turns out that yoga (http://www.endometriosis.org/treatment.html) is a common post-op therapy (most of the way down the page).
Edit: So they're doing it without surgery? Well, whatever works. *Shrug.* Long as our Chrissy's okay.

Also glad to hear they found out what the reason for your pain was.
Hope ypur becoming better really fast, so your new PC can draw some more nice figures in the mud ;)

I've been thinking of you too. Glad you know now. I once suffered from the same condition too. They gave me Lupron shots for 10 months and cleared about 95% of it up. Hope to see you up and about soon! Take care.

Congratulations on making it through your first procedure. They are VERY intimidating at first, mostly due to the not knowing.
I had cortisone shots in my back and hip, which they had to put me under for. The 'knockout juice' that they put in my IV was...umm...stout and very affective. They tried to stand me up in the recovery room to get me walking around. HA! Ever lacked the ability to control the muscles a limb? I went over like someone tearing down a building. The rooms did all look alike and COLD.
Glad to hear you made it and will be recovering an the best part...LESS/NO more pain from it.

I always found the "getting knocked out" phase a little daunting. I guess we like to be in control of our own selves.
I've been reading your posts and commend your courage.

Oh dear.. had no knowledge of somethin like this. Though I doubt you woulda told me anyways ;). Glad they know what it is and that you're doin' better!! And yes, I know how it feels like that and all... was rushed to ICU and was in it for a week with a deathly sickness before I recovered, this summer. Hope you pull through the recovery period. I found that was the hardest for me.. being a very active and athletic person, you try to push your body when it just can't go past certain limits :O.

All I can say is "ouch" and to wish for a hasty recovery, though it's a good thing that you and the doctors know what's the right diagnose, so it can be cured. My best wishes for you.

Sorry to hear about your predicament. It's tough to cope with any surgery of that nature, especially when the ailment results in your hormones shooting through the roof at sporadic intervals.

Aye what they all said, :P, its good to hear that they managed to find out the issues and you came out of it in "Not to much pain"
Still i know if i was undergoing such a thing i probably would have been a lot more stressed then you hehe, :)
