Title: Confusion and Eschew Materials I
Post by: jadewillow on January 03, 2008, 08:45:57 PM
Should I be able to cast Confusion (level 3 bard spell) without a walnut if I have the Eschew Material I feat? Seems to still want a walnut. Could be that this spell is level 4 for Wiz/Sorc. May have just missed it for Bard.

The innate level is what counts, which is lvl 4 in the case of Confusion as you suggested. I think it usually takes cleric level and innate if there is one, then wizard/sorceror and bards are at the bottom.

Can I assume by your reply that there is no way to make spells class specific regarding their level and Eschew Materials? That means I have a spell I really don't want.

BTW, I was going to suggest we put a note on the Feat in Lore, but it's already there. I guess I should read the instructions first :)

Thanks.

No, there's no simple way, as NWN doesn't know what class is casting a given spell, sadly. If all spells were specific to a single class, then it would be easy, but alas.  Also, for every spell there is a class-specific level defined as well as an "innate" spell level, and it is the latter that is used by the Eschew feats.
