Title: Website building recommendations
Post by: Dezza on January 04, 2008, 02:14:01 AM
Hey there,

I need to organise a website for a business and having never built a website before am wondering if there is a suitable program thats effective and easy to use people might recommend.

Any tips and hints are also appreciated.

I have a up to date PC running windows Vista.

Thanks.

Some basic tutorials to start you off

W3Schools Online Web Tutorials (http://www.w3schools.com/)

Webmonkey: The Web Developer's Resource (http://www.webmonkey.com/)

Also, for basic testing purposes, you might want to download a copy of Xampp (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html).  Gives you a complete web environment locally before you have to host it anywhere.

I can attest to that, Darky has helped me set it up for the upload of my songs, hmm which i should update the ip *shakes his fist at Bell for being so slow in providing me with a static ip*. It's very easy to use.

you can download this for free as it is open source... SourceForge.net: Welcome to SourceForge.net (http://www.sourceforge.net)

I haven't used it but it is a popular download from that site.

If I may offer a suggestion, dude, take a look at the code closely if you are using anything with drag-and-drop features. Some are sophisticated enough to be smart about it, but there are still times when there will be mounds of useless junk code that you can do without.

All right, so it's just a pet peeve, whatever.
