Okay, I hate these things so far. My wife's parents got her one so they could see her pregnant belly while it grows by the second. And by 'by the second' I mean the fists of fury I can see smashing against the walls of her belly.
Here's the rub:
- I run through a d-link router
- They're on a mac, using ichat, and I'm on a PC
- I'm using a logitech webcam 5000
It's messing up everytime I try to connect.
So my question - what's the best program to connect (ie the lightest running, least security compromising, easiest interface). I loaded AIM earlier to try to placate them and it proceeded to rewrite the computer I pride myself on being safe, clean, and running light on programs. I almost threw the alienware respawn disc in because it was so annoying that the once pristine machine now had AOL/AIM spammage popping up.
I appreciate any advice.

I'd use yahoo messenger on the pc and mac if you can't get AIM to install on the pc without bombarding you with spyware and adware. AIM is nice b/c the mac has iChat built in and it interfaces seemlessly with the PC running on AIM for video.

I would recommend that you should use Skype (http://www.skype.com). The program works on Macs/PCs/Unix and it has video built in. It works on all connections (modems and routers).

Msn is the easiest to use and generally least security problems of them all, skype is frustrating to set up video chats, in my experience for the inexperienced ^^.

**looks up** Heh, how's that for different opinions?

Personal preference too, I just am more used to the msn interface, I find skype cumbersome and not too user friendly. Msn just open up a window and click on the little webcam.
