Having had a string of two's , three's and four's .....made me wonder ...
( no , not if my dice was stolen and replaced by a D4 ;) )
If 20 on a D20 = 100%...
Then 10% = 2 ...right ?
Then 80% = 2 x 8 = 16 .....so a 4 should be enough ...right ?
I kept noticing however that i failed with a 4 ....on 80% :(
Is that a bug ?

Actually, no that's about right.
80% chance of success is 20% chance of failure. On a d20, that's a roll of 1-4.
You have to count down from 20, inclusively to get your lowest possible roll. If you actually counted 4 in the 80%, that would actually include 17 possible numbers, not 16.
In other words, count down, don't subtract....or subtract and add 1.

The step from 95 to 100 = 5 % = 5 x 0.2 = 1 .
In game that step is now 2 , effectively doubling the change off failing on 95 % ( 2 = failure )
In your reasoning , a 1 would mean failure on 100% ( its early , but that's what i calculated )
Shouldn't it be like the attack system ?
Equal to your armor and your good ( not hit ) higher then your armor and you fail ( get hit )

It is like the attack system.
But you don't fail and get hit, the attacker succeeds and you get hit.
You have to roll high. The number required to be rolled is determined by:
[INDENT]21 - chance of success[/INDENT]
If you have a 2-in-20 chance of success, the number required to by rolled is:
[INDENT]21 - 2 = 19 (or higher)[/INDENT]

You dont have a " 21 " on a D20 ???
If you need to throw 19-20 on 95% , then you have a fail-chance of 2 numbers on a D20 .
Taking into account that 1% = 0.2 / 5% = 1 / 10% = 2 / etc. then shouldn't ONLY a 1 be a failure ? ( 20 = 1 )

Okay... This is how it works,
95%, 1 is failure, 5% chance of that roll
90%, 1 and 2 is failure, 5% + 5% of those rolls
85%, 1, 2 and 3 is failure, 5% + 5% +5% of those rolls
80%, 1, 2, 3 and 4 is failure, 5% + 5% +5% +5% of those rolls
...
5%, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 is failure, 5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%+5%=95% of those rolls

Ahhh ...so because a 20 is always a hit , it doesnt count as an actual number you need to roll ?( just determines if you have a chance on an " exceptional " )

The "number required to be rolled" is not the chance of success, nor the chance of failure.
If you need to throw 19-20 on 95% ,
"19-20" is 10% chance of success (90% chance of failure); "95%" is not related at all to these numbers.

I am guessing you are refering to 95% success here. Given this is the case, then what you are saying, "1 is a failure", is correct. Conversely, 2-20 is a success.

So do i with things that don't require many materials ...but it gets annoying when you lose 10 essences of power , an iron longsword and an enchanted diamond per attempt ;)

Just one point here...
If a recipe is impossible for you, even a 20 won't help, but then the system won't even let you try, so it's sort of a pointless clarification.
Anyway, the numerical analyses of Pibemanden and Script Wrecked are right on the money.
