hey, just started yesterday. In game I play a dwarf Magnus MacInnes.

So far I only have one question:
Where is the best place to find people? walking around hempstead I've only seen a few people

It depends on the time of day, and if there's an event happening. Both starting cities are usually quiet when it comes to PC activity.

The pond outside of Port Hempstead is a good spot to ambush players at their characters transition through.  It's a high traffic area.

Hlint, actually, is seeing a surprising amount of traffic these days.  Not a bad place to hang out to run into people.

Also, bear in mind that you can always plan an event!  I realize you're new to the server, but jumping in headfirst is not a bad plan. :)
