Title: Servers missing
Post by: LordCove on August 28, 2008, 09:48:37 AM
Anyone else having issues with this?

In the Roleplay Section of NWN when logging in... All the LayoServers are missing.

In my "History" Section... they're shown as "Offline".

Yet according to Server Status... they're working perfectly.

Happened early this morning... then it worked fine.... now its not showing them again.

Anyone have any amazing tips for fixing it?
Besides of course the usual Hammer and Bin option?  ;)

Just connect directly to the server you're trying to reach - West.Layonara.com, Central.Layonara.com, or Quest.Layonara.com.

If you are on a router, I'd suggest resetting it and see how that goes. Eor and I used to have that problem from time to time. Sadly it was indicative of a larger problem that led us to having to replace it. He'd have to elaborate more then that if this is indeed your trouble.

Oh... I still had access to other NWN servers, Internet Access... forums... ect.

I was merely the Layo Servers that seemed offline.

But seems to be fine.... for now *crosses fingers*.

Thanks :)

Could always be some sort of a routing problem with the dynamic name servers on the ISP (internet service provider) side of the Layo Servers.

This has also happened to me a couple of days ago.. everything shows up except for the Layo servers.

Definately an ISP problem on the layo server side then. No worries, direct connection to either: west.layonara.com / central.layonara.com / quest.layonara.com | ought to work just fine :)

An update on this. I am not sure about the whole listing of the server issue. I have seen that happen for 7 years now (from time to time) and it has always been caused by a gamespy issue; it tends to come and go.

However, I do know the site hosting the servers was having core router problems over the past few days. They did emergency maintenance on it yesterday afternoon. I received an email at 5:59pm stating it was starting in 1 minute *sighs sadly*. So perhaps in this case it was on their side. Not sure.

 Sorry for the problems.

I think I've seen somewhere but I can't remember nor where nor when:
- When an IT person says "it's repaired in 1 minute" always use a lie detector. :D

This rule can also be use when IT project manager promises to deliver on time and within the budget.

Now guess if I'm an IT person or not.

Seems I'm the latest to get dropped. Timed out in the Rift *sigh*. Can't get onto either Layo server, and having trouble with some of the Forums functions also. Oh well-guess I'll try again tomorrow.

*Sees the servers back in front of his screen and sights with relief...sweat stops beading on his forehead, trembling subsides and the nervous twitch of his right eye all but disappear....vague nightmarish memories of a night spent curled-up in a fetus potion, trembling and clucking like a chicken are now forgotten as he lets out a deep sight of relief*
