I think I may make this a weekly thing for Monday nights. Destinations this evening are varied... perhaps not as treacherous as last time.

Sorry to hear you lost another one :( we never should have gone there. Nobody should go there with the exception of a few folks.
I still cant get over how wildly overpowered that thing was. It had immunities, resistances, and damage reduction to everything we were throwing at it. Wren is not a power build but he is not a weak build either he is made to be in the company of a sorc or wizard and with the right buffs (which he had last night) he is quite strong. And Argali is no softy she is a rock and deals very good damage. But we were only scratching that thing. It is clear, that place is off limits to all but a few.

Unfortunate yes but for us more then you. Fen would have turned the tide on that fight I would think.

Oh you built it well that explains it all ;) Level 36 is high sure but should not have been out of reach of that party. But its damage immunities, reduction, and resistance made it impossible for us to beat. And yes I agree a smoldering fiend should be tough but not impossible for the mid powered PCs of the right level to handle.
This goes back to some thing I have brought up before and maybe I should start a thread on. The (all) encounters should be built with the mid power range PC builds in mind not the high power builds. By building to the high power range a significant percentage of the server population gets barred from those areas. Yes if you dont build to the high power range then those power/optimized builds will walk through everything. Well the long term effect of that is that they will get bored and maybe make less power/optimized builds so they can have fun.

I was in bed, too. I'm beginning to see a trend here, and it's alarming, folks. We can't let sleep get in the way of those things that are clearly more important, like risking pixelated life and limb in the Deep. Fight the urge! We can sleep when we're dead and recovering from the death effects.

I think we had about 3 milimeters of snow here in Florida way back in 1989. It was just enough to make everybody's grass look all frosty and after about 2 hours of scraping the pool deck, I made a snowball. Last Christmas my mom took it out of the freezer and showed it to me and I realized that she's insane. She kept a dirty, misshapen piece of ice for almost 20 years out of nostolgia. It must have melted down and refrozen at least a hundred times through all of the power outages since. :P
Oh yes, and today it is October 14th and 84 degrees outside.

Awww that is sweet!!! The things mothers do for their kids! :) Last year was the first time our daughter saw snow. She wanted to put some in the freezer to save for Dad because he was out to sea at the time.

Just wanted to say thanks to the folks that that braved the unknown with a less than balanced party. Once we pulled ourselves together we did pretty well. And it was really, really awesome to explore some place absolutely new, especially for a player like me who has been here for so long and seen so much of the world already.
