Title: Layo fanart
Post by: Kenderfriend on October 08, 2008, 11:06:35 AM
Okay not sure if anyone else has done any Layo art but... if not then here is some! I was a bit bored when the server was down, so I decided to draw the troupe 'Two halves and a Pint'. I know it's not very good, but I was just trying to see if I could get the characters across by doing a mixture of :
a- looking at the portraits
b- remembering the clothes worn in-game
c- some.. err... imagination?

Anyways, sorry in advance if I haven't done them well, but I hope you all like it anyway... even if you don't, as long as this makes you laugh! :D

P.S. looks a bit blurry at first, but click on the pic for 'full-view' and you can see it better.
Thanks ;)

Great work, Minerva. Though I have to say, that dress would be... Um... Exceptionally revealing from a slightly different angle. Then again, knowing Sophia...

Yes, I bet dwarf, halflings and brownies love that dress.

I've had a tablet for a while now... really great for photoshop projects, and fun to mess around with if you know what your doing (which I unfortunately don't)

Don't forget Sophia's garden gnomes, the ones she's cast Flesh to Stone with Permanence at.

Hehe very nice Kenderfriend! Like the use of colour :)

That gryphon is pretty funky too, it looks very strong: I dont know if its the pose or just the manner it was drawn in.. :p

Post by: Chazzler on February 23, 2009, 04:11:51 PM
The griffon doesn't look very overweight, so it can't be from Alindor's ricefields :D

Post by: Nehetsrev on February 23, 2009, 04:53:18 PM
That's corn growing behind the griffon.  That should help 'place' it if it needs to be.  *winks*  I'd thought to throw in a cow carcass and a cowbell too for humor's sake, but decided against it in the end.

This one took a lot more time, but is much truer to form than the other. I had forgotten how much I love to paint. Digital is almost as much fun as with acrylics but not nearly as messy.

Very nice work Minerva.

Connor looks a bit too happy though, that can't be right... and the bird on his hand... I always thought Connor was much more of a mystic than a joyful bird-petter... hehe.

It's Kat's bird, and he's usually far happier than grumpy ol' Fenrir! ;)

:)  ... Did this lil sketch awhile ago but I've been busy so haven't had a chance to scan and stuff.

Was a request from Zoogmunch, he wanted me to draw that rofie, Isherwood. Had to stick halflings in there though, of course. Sort of helps with the size comparison...

Hope you like it, I could have done a more detailed drawing with a reference like, but I just wanted to capture the characters, and err, sorry about the large-ness heh. I like big pictures.

With the help from Minerva I have become addicted to this..

There is one I did that shows a little how I see Ami and Emie. They are like day and night.  But close as two friends can be.

While Acacea has made fun of Plen's "beak" many a time, he really has only wings, not a bird head. :D It's a depiction of a specific event... the kenku is an NPC. ;)

(PS, very nice render and post!)

Kinda looks like a picture of the brave souls who held back the second tsunami at hempstead.  The druids and the wizards and such.  Heck that could even be Trouble second from the front with the white streak in his hair.

I believe, and Minerva can correct me if I'm wrong, the figures are (from left to right)

Sala, AnnaLee (behind), Caerwyn, female NPC Halfling, Steel, male NPC half-elf, Jaelle, Connor and the Kenku NPC.

Daz Studio  (http://www.daz3d.com/)

DAZ Studio version 3 - I use the paid version but the free one is very good too. Daz Studios   (http://www.daz3d.com/i/software/daz_studio3?_m=d).  I also use GIMP (free photo manipulation program) and Photoshop elements.

It's not terribly difficult to learn even though intially the learning curve is very steep, but once you have the hang of how to use it and how the internal stucture works its dead easy and fairly intuitative.

Its also very addictive, and buying content can add up to $$ fast but there are lots of great free items out there if you want to spend the time to look.
