Title: Character Development in Third Person?
Post by: Obsydian on November 13, 2008, 01:23:12 AM
Kinda similar to gelooo's question, but a bit more specific:

Can you make a journal in third person?  Like,

Halrath grunted as he gripped his axe and swung hard.  The blade drove clean through the rib cage of the dusty skeleton, and as its body crumpled, the dim lights in its empty eye sockets flickered and died.  Halrath brushed the chips of bone out of his beard and nodded in satisfaction.

As opposed to writing it as a journal or as a series of letters or something?

Thanx :)

You can write a CDT however you want.  Third Person, First Person.  you could prolly even get by with just comments about what happen at a particular time like:
All depends on your own style.  :)  There is no write or wrong way

we had one non verbal illerate character submit a journal entirely of screen shots.

If your character is illerate how are they going to write?  But you (the puppermaster) can still give commentary on their thoughts and development

Like Shiff said there is no one right answer.

The only thing you can't do in a journal is put words in the mouths of the NPCs if it was not a GM run occurance.

Yes! You can certainly write in the third person! :) For an example from my very own Character Development Thread, see here (http://forums.layonara.com/880242-post38.html).
