Stygian Achunuman walks into the small office of the Port Hempstead Gravediggers and Embalmers Guild with a folded parchment clutched in his right hand. An official looks up from his scroll littered desk and squints over the rims of his thick glasses and asks, "How can I help you?"
"I would like to submit this application for a permit to operate as a mortician in your jurisdiction."
The official purses his lips and looks thoughtful. "I can accept the application for processing. There is a 25 true non-refundable processing fee, and it usually takes about a week for notification of approval or denial. Where will you be operating?"
"I will be travelling to outlying villages and hamlets and performing services at, or near the residences of the deceased. The official nods in approval and Stygian hands him the parchment and a small bag containing coins. "Thank you, I look forward to hearing from your office."
