Okay, so ah'm a dark elf, so what?
It's no as if ah'm any worse'n some o' thae other toerags you see gien' it laldy aboot their gods, an' all. Ah mean, I bumped intae a few guys fae Corath, and these eejits thought they wis ded nasty like, 'cos they had joined up tae a party an' follied them an' a', then at the end, they'd hoovered a bit o' jugglery and shot the craw.
Bunch o' moron's if'n ye ask me - an' some o' thaem wis pure ded mocket an' awe an' wan wis sae glaikit he couldni see twae fit in front o' him. Fer creased masel, ah tell ye.
Garbage man, pure garbage.
Now, evil wis me an' some new guys ah'd met the ither night (tell ye that story anither time, no). We wis in Port Hempstead an' had tanned the guy that wis wreckin' the drains, when we saw a wean hidin' in the corner fae us.
Well me an' Dunderheid walkt over tae him an' asked him whit the problem wis, like. An' the wee bugg*# (nae swearin', right?) startit bawlin' his bleedin' een oot.
So me an Dunderheid asks him whit it's a' aboot, right, as you do, an' we gets the fill story, like.
Turns oot the rug rat hid tae take some readies tae the baker, so we offert tae help him oot and dae it fae him. Before we left though, the wean had jist gone an' caught his sleeve on Dunderheid's cuff, so he cuts his cuff to let the wean go. Nae harm, nae foul.
So aff we go, me, Dunderheid and the Guv'nor (that's whit Dunderheid ca's him, but I think he's a bit o' a chancer too, with his posh accent an' a'. Time will tell, my ol' man always used to say. An' by the way, while I 'member, there's that other hard man, he thinks, whose always just oot o' sight, like.
Anyway, where wis ah? Aye, well, aff we go and guess whit? There's the Scamp's Mug an' I swear by Vierdri’ira's teats, it wis as if the ale wis callin' tae us, so ins we went tae tan a few cans. Well, ye know whit it's like; wan can leads to anither yin and afore ye know it, we wis aw blootert.
Last thing I knew wis I was ootside among the trees oan mah ain. Must've bin goin' fer a p?@#" (almost anither slip there) .. goin' to releeve masell.
And that wis that, so it wis.

It was a fine day and four of us had gathered to see if we could make some coin, the more easily the better. We were about to head out to Fort Llast, when a stranger appeared on the road from Hempstead Fields. I was struck by her apparel and her bearing instantly. She held herself perfectly erect and composed, sure of her surroundings and her place within them.
She was wearing a beautiful outfit, in shades of red, lined with what looked like white ermine, and her cloak was the most amazing colour of red, again lined with the white fur of some creature. And her shoes, well, suffice to say they must have cost a small town's yearly taxes.
She introduced herself as Saira and we spent a while talking and sharing opinions, during which my companions, looked lost, grew bored, and eventually walked away; except Wee Man who stood by, just in case.
After a length of time, another stranger approached us, and as the gods would must have been smiling on me, this newcomer was of our race as well. After the initial hesitations intil we felt we could trust each other, he introduced himself as Naster. We shared some banter and some tips on the best ways to travel in these lands, and then we parted our ways.
Guv’nor said he had heard of a call for help from a camp outside Vehl that he thought we could benefit from. We headed off to the camp, and spoke to the man there and he told us he was being bothered by a strange creature called Zamin. He said that the Zamin had some undead help to support him, so forewarned, we moved to his camp.
Making he most if what shadows I could find, I scouted ahead and saw some zombies. I returned to the others, just as cautiously, and after I had repositioned myself to take flank shots at the, we dispatched them with volley after volley of arrows. As the last zombie fell however, up came some sort of dragon, horse thing, that was all skeletal and we had to close with swords to dispatch it. Moving in and out of the shadows if the trees, I got onto it’s side a gave it a nasty blow.
Working our way slowly forward in this fashion, we came across the Zamin’s camp and carefully lured some of his guards away, one at a time, so we could return them to their lost graves where they belonged.
Finally, we positioned ourselves to take on Zamin himself. I gave out instructions to the gang, as natural leader of the men, and we moved in for the close. With battle engaged, I tried to move to get a better position to strike at Zamin and took my thrust.
A hit! He staggered and turned on me, giving the others the advantage. As he moved towards me, I took slipped to the side, into the shade a the nearby tree and he momentarily lost sight of me. That was enough to discourage him and make him turn to the others.
But he was fast. With two swift strokes, he cut at guv’nor and knocking him to the ground with a death blow and moved to his next target. I will never understand why, but without thinking of my own plight, I ran from the shadows to pour a healing potion down guv’nor’s throat, and Zamin took his chance.
As guv’nor revived from my ministrations and moved away, Zamin’s thrust took my life. As the last breath left my lips, I saw the Soul Mother take me in her embrace and pull me to her land.
Some time later, I awake outside Hlint and all I could remember was the Soul Mother’s voice in my ears telling me to be more careful and that she would grant me another chance at life.
I returned to the gang, and they were amazed to see me whole again, as they had slain the Zamin they said, but when they had looked for my body to bury, they said it had gone.
So all is well that ends well, but I know I will be happy if I do not feel the Soul Mother’s embrace for many a year to come.

It was a chance meeting, or so it seemed. The man approached Eleandilethessa carefully, judging his moment well.
“I hear you can be trusted to handle, ‘delicate’ assignments, shall we say?”
“Depends on what you mean by ‘delicate”’, she replied.
“Well, you see there is certain mining operation, and there is a dispute over the legality of the mining certificate, or rather, who holds it. What we would be willing to pay for is for the certificate to move hands, as it were.”
“And what about the person who currently holds it?”
“Let’s say that if they never came out of the mine, no-one would miss them.”
So some time later, Eleandilethessa found herself outside the mine, her mind made up with a plan of approach and two contingency plans, should something go wrong. She had planned to enter the mine and make some enquiries as to the whereabouts of the miner she sought, with news of a death in the family, but when she got to the entrance, she found a party of adventurers already assembled, debating on the future of some bears that were purported to be trapped in the mines.
After some initial banter, she entered their party as a scout of sorts, and the party descended into the depths of the cave. The dwarves in the party proved to be particularly useful, in their typical dwarven, charge in, kill everything, fashion.
After some time in this fashion, they saw some miners up ahead. one of their number approached the party and challenged them as to their presence in the mine. The party explained they were looking for some lost bears and the miner replied that he would pay for their skins, but some of the party were aghast at this. He was in turn questioned about the mining certificate, where it was and who he was. To Eleandilethessa’s delight, he turned out to be her main target.
To her horror, she realised her first plan to assassinate the man would not work either.
Thinking quickly, as her training had taught her to do when things went wrong, she tried to get the main to lead the party to the bears, meaning to kill him when they engaged some of the gnolls down in the caves, but the man would not be moved.
She quickly went through plan B to cast darkness over the miner when the other adventurers had moved away, and dispatch him with a quick strike from behind, but she discarded that plan as the miner was surrounded by a large group of burly diggers and she didn’t think she could kill him quickly enough. And they would certainly raise some sort of alarm.
The other flaw in this plan was that a barbarian called Droog was still hanging back talking to the man with two others, even though the rest of the party had moved on. Droog seemed keen on finding information on the mining certificate too. She wondered about still trying to assassinate the miner, then pinning the blame on Droog, since he seemed to be most insistent on finding out more about the certificate, but she discarded that one too as she could not judge Droog’s kills well enough to know.
Eleandilethessa gave some thought to luring some of the gnolls to the miners, so she could complete at least one part of her mission, but the others were slaughtering their way through the remainder of the gnolls in the cave. So with a sigh, she joined the others and they went on to find the bears and release them. During this time, they met another miner who had the certificate, but that worthy held onto it tight and would not relinquish it, and she could steal it in plain sight of the others. Not for the first time, she wished she could have some ability to hide in front of others. She had read about this skill some time ago.
So she returned to the surface with the others, and taking leave of them – they still had not asked her for her name or asked her to remove her hood – she met with her original contact to explain her twin failure and the reasons and left the area.
However, as fortune would have it, she found that a wagon with Rofirien uniforms was overdue for the temple, so she assembled the Baker Street Gang and went in search of the wagon, so she could complete part of her task for Adder. She planned to either steal the uniforms from the wagon, or if they hadn’t left the tailor’s, to rob the tailor of the uniforms, hopefully picking up a letter or something from the temple too, and make it look like a robbery for money.
Before the gang could set out from Vehl, they met a paladin called Mor, who told them that Vehl was being threatened by undead to the north, so the gang took this task as cover for the robbery.
They found the tailor’s shop and entered it unseen, after some (hopefully discrete) enquiries in Hlint. Taking advantage of the shadows within the building, Eleandilethessa searched ahead of the others, looking for the uniforms. Just as well she did so, for standing around a corner was a guard who seemed to be quite alert.
Verdin Cowl approached the guard as Elendilethessa made her way slowly behind him, and the guard challenged Verdin. Verdin stammered a reply, but the guard took advantage of this hesitation to draw on Verdin and attack him.
This was an unfortunate move, for he had not see the other two of the gang behind Verdin and he had definitely not seen Eleandilethessa behind him. With a shout, Ironfist charged and struck, Eleandilthessa struck from behind him and Verdin completed the job with the final, and fatal, thrust.
They found the uniforms and a letter, then made it look like a simple, but violent, robbery. The floor was quickly cleaned of blood and the dead guard was taken under cover to outside Hlint and the body dumped, cut up and beheaded, near the orc camp, hoping they would be blamed for the death of the guard.
As arranged, Eleandilethessa left a message for Adder to say that his assignment was ready for delivery. She was forming a plan now that another of the gang should be there to meet Adder, using Ma Baker’s disguise. And just in case this was an elaborate trap, the goods should not be on Ma Baker, but be nearby and hidden.
So one failure, but one success. Reviewing the two jobs, she pondered the best ways to assassinate people. She was becoming more skilled in the manufacture and use of poisons, but the situation in the mines told her that was not enough. Thinking on it, she realised she needed to know more about being able to hide from others so she could quickly melt in and out of the shadows.
Hide, approach the target, strike, hide, strike again, hide, escape, she thought. Yes, and doubled with poisons, that would work.
Her mind made up, she went to look for more information.

Vehl was dark, and it was raining. The sort of rain that isn't heavy, but soaks you to the skin anyway. Nothing was moving, even the cats had taken shelter but mainly because the birds were nesting to get out of the drizzle. Suddenly, a small chink of light appears and the sounds of voices drifts out of an open doorway and into the night. The gap opens and a figure steps out, pulls their hood over their head and walks away from the inn.
She recallls the instructions she had received earlier that day.
“Roight, he hus been messin’ wi’ moi woife, an’ oi wants him taught a lesson,” the man had said.
“Aye, ah kin dae lessons shure enough. Wans 'at he’ll no walk away frae.”
“Yeah, mess him up real good fer me. Oi don’t want him coming back 'ere ever again.”
“Oh rest assured, he’ll no be gawin’ anywherr except intae a hole in ra grund wance ah’ve dun wi’ him,” she replied with a small laugh in her voice.
The man thought it was strange that a voice like gently flowing water could have such a hard edge to it. But he wanted the man taught a lesson, so he passed over the coins and left the woman to get on with the job. As he walked away, he also wondered about the faint musky smell of crushed diamonds and honey, but said nothing. The less he knew, the easier it would be to deny anything.
As the man walks away from the inn, he stops momentarily to check the street to see if anyone was out. He smiled to himself, 'who would be out in this weather,’ and chuckling to himself slightly, turned the corner and into deeper shadows. Maybe it was the drink, or perhaps if was the rain, but he never saw the deeper shadow detach itself from the building opposite and follow him without a sound.
~~~
The cockerel crowed it’s good mornings and the sun was shining; it was a lovely day in Vehl. The woman left her house and was walking along the back paths towards the merchant’s areas with a happy song on her lips when she saw the body.
Her screaming brought the town guard.
She tries the phrase again for the umptieth time, and Ironfist laughs and tells her she it right this time. She continues to repeat the timbre so she can say and understand it reflexively.
//OOC Eleandilethessa has been in the company of a dwarf, an elf and a halfling for over 4 RL months now and uses every opportunity to learn their tongues and dialects so she can understand more races when she mixes with others.
-
//OOC
On today's quest I made it clear to all on several occasions that I was trying to pick out dwarven words from the conversations between Abigail Firesteed and Argali Trueaxe. Others in the party were Sallaron Tempest, Angela Swann, Arkolio Salvorre, Lueanne Lightfinger, Brualot , Alantha T'sarran and Revone Starr.
-
//OOC I would like to apply for a dwarf's ear for this PC having spent the time with the dwarf Ironfist, son of Ironbreaker, as well as making others aware in the company of dwarves that she is trying to understand the dwarven tongue.
I would also like to apply for a halfling ear, but I have not spent the same effort in that, so will apply later.
*One evening, in the inn in Port Vehl, a small, dark clothed and hooded woman is consuming far too much alcohol, but even so, remains very much tight lipped and to herself until a hooded figure approaches her and sits down.*
'Is the deed done?’ He asks her quietly.
'Aye, he’ll no bother ye any mair, ye kin resht ashured. He’ll be shleepin’ wi’ ra fishesh tonight, nae bother.’ She slurs a little then her mind seems to drift as she remembers some details.
'Ra guard turned up, but ah folli’d em, shure, an’ listened tae 'em talk tae wan o’ mah team. He wis sholid, telt 'em he wis a fruit an’ veg seller,’ she bursts out laughing at this, a sound of gently running water that may have turned the head of anyone near enough to overhear – but there was no-one that near; she had picked her seat well and already scared away any bold enough to come near her.
'And was it... difficult?’ The man asked.
'Naw, pieshe o’ cake. He wis waitin’ as ye’ said he wid be. Ah didni even need tae use any poishon. A simple stab intae his back, a slash across his throat, job dun.’ She didn’t tell him about the treasure map the man carried nor the strange blade she found as that was not part of their original deal.
The man nodded, pleased by the result. 'And the authorities? You said they appeared. What can they do?’
'The guards ish eejits. Couldni find therr way oot o’ a room o’ doorsh, they couldni. CSI Mistone they’re bein’ ca’d; ah think that means Canni Solve It 'cos they’ll no be gettin’ any cluesh frae 'at boady.’
Satisfied by her answers, he hands over the remaining half of the agreed payment and leaves quietly.
'Barman, anither drink fur me an’ buy a roond fur yer ither patrons as well. Why no, ah’ve jist cum intae sum money,’ and she laughs again, with that voice of gently running water.
//OOC thanks to mixafix for setting this up very, very quickly to allow me practice my arts as an assassin and to help test a possible new member of the Baker Street Gang in Jehoram; to Jehoram for playing his part as Vincent and Ironfist son of Ironbreaker. //ooc Following some successful quests with To'ryll Solen, Ni'haer Helvivirr and latterly, Daralith Del'Mar, To'ryll tells me she has plans for Eleandilethessa to become the dark elven Warmistress to her High Priestess in her plans for Daralith's new world order.
With that in mind, I would like to start working as a Fighter or Shadowdancer class (perhaps levels 16-20) to gain the extra skills the character would need to fill such a role. Fighter seems obvious, but I am playing her as an assassin, so the SD skills would also be most useful in that role.
-
Ah huv spent mair time wi' Ironfist a' a few others such as Urick an' Gormungard, an' huv learned sum new words tae add tae mah growin' Dwarven vocabulary.
poazlrhurk
turn waazia
addrak (this is mah favourite - it means eejit)
r'lhrko
karknalar
poazzh'aat (next favourite - it means bawheid, which ah kin use fur tae describe loads o' humies an' ithers ah cum across)
-
Read the latest exploits here: http://forums.layonara.com/1367822-post8.html and as an addendum to that:
What ah've kept frae ra general reader is that ah used Caradith as a meat shield so ah could sneak up behind ra gobbies an' practice mah assassin skills, oar attacked 'em front oan tae practice as a fighter, mimicking Caradith.
A few times ah stood by an' watched Caradith nearly beaten doon afore ah stepped in. Humies need taught they isni ra kings o' ra world, an' it wid dae him guid tae learn ah could help him, oar naw, oan a whim if ah wanted tae. Interesting though that To'ryll cured him: ah knew ah wisni gonni.
He's disposable; but he'll be useful oan mah road tae become Warmistress wi To'ryll as High Priestess.
//OOC Following the last adventure and with a view to ingratiating myself slowly into Krandor life, I placed more food and flowers into the Krandor Hospital: http://forums.layonara.com/1367162-post5.html
I am building up a slow appearance as the Cemetery Flower lady so I can pick up information, yet remain invisible to most anyone who passes by.
This sort of "goody" background can only help if things become unglued.
Ah must say, things is lookin' up. Ah met wi' To'ryll Solen an' we hud a long, long talk aboot ra future. Me, ah wis jist wantin' sum monies an' a life free frae persecution, but she's got big ideas.
She wants tae become ra High Priestess tae a new family o' dark elves. She's daein' this wi' ra help o' Daraltih Del'Mar, who wants tae become ra High Priest. Ra kicker is that although she's hired me tae be her bodyguard at times, we get oan so well she wis thinkin' o' makin' me Warmistress tae her High Priestess.
Praise indeed and whit a stroke o' guid fortune.
Anyway, ah've agreed (be daft no tae?) an ah've said ah'll ca' her Solena when we's oot an' aboot, Priestess when we's amongst oor ain kind, an To'ryll when we's alone together. She wis slow tae take it oan, but then agreed.
We goat oan so well, we even changed intae gowns an' goat rid o' ra armour an' helms so we could talk tae each other proper, like. Well, ah didni huv a gown, so pit oan may skimpy stuff, ye know, knee highboots, slashed front and near enough nae panties.
Anways, we goat oan great an' when ah said tae To'ryll that ah thought o' her as an equal, she wis fine wi' it.
Well, well, how things change.
-
An' things keep gettin' better.
Spoke wi' To'ryll again when we bumped intae each ither in Vehl, an' it seems she's huvin' problems wi' a darthir ca'd Darthirâe Zhalberen who is causin' problem fur ra family.
Ah huv bin given ra joab o' capturin' 'is elf *she spits* - no killin' her, capturin' her. To'ryll waants tae keep her tae torture her an' trap her so she never gets oot again.
No shure hoo ah feel aboot torture fur fun, but ah've said ah wid catch her fur To'ryll, so ah best gets oan wi' it. Ah wonder hoo ah could hire tae cum wi' me.
Ah could mix sum poisons an' stick it oan her food, like, tae knock her oot. Oar a could jist folli her an' chib her unconscious and carry her away.
Ah think ah needs tae find her an' watch her routine fur a wee bit and then make mah plans. Treat it like a real assassination an' no get sloppy, like.
Aye, that's whit ah'll dae.
-
Fell in wi' Eriis ra ither day, an' he telt me he wis dedd fedd up wi' Solena. Ah listend tae them talkin', well, tae Solena tellin' him tae dae things, an' ah think he wis lucky tae walk away alive, sum o' ra replies he wis gie'in' her.
Ah wis watchin' To'ryll real close and found mah mind wanderin', watchin' her move, her muscles tensin' an' relaxin'. Ah could imagine ra wind blawin' through her herr...
Anyways, ah took Eriis aside efterwards an' tole him he needed tae watch his step. He said he didni care an' he would like tae run away, tae get away frae us - us!! He said we wis ra reason he left ra deep in ra furst place. An' he said he thought ah wis awright at furst, but noo he realises ah'm jist ra same as Solena.
Ah took 'at as a compliment, but ah may need him later oan, so ah tole him ah wis a different person and hud a different dream. Offered him mah protection if he helped me, but he didni accept it. Ah coulda killed him oan ra spot fur turnin' me doon, like, but ah reined in mah anger an' quietly tole him ra offer wid remain fur a while. Ah tole him if he pleased me, ah wid make him pleased too - nice an' vague.
Ah dinni know if ah needs him (his dug fought better'n he did), but it's better to keep him near fur ra moment.
Ah think maybe ah should 'surprise' Naster sum time. He'd be a worthy mate. Oar forget weans an' suprise To'ryll... he he, therr's a thought. n aAh dinni think it wid be a surprise sumhoo.
-
So ah may huv tae train as a fighter tae become To'ryll's Warmistress. Ah huv bin watching Guillaume, Ironfist, Mearden, Urick an' any others fight tae learn sum tips. Seems aw they do is charge in an' ask questions later, but ah huv looked fur ra wee things that wid show me therr skills. So, wi' them in mind, ah went tae ra Ice Caves, oot by Krashin, tae brush up. A challenge oan ma ain, but hopefully no too tough. Nae point gawin' in at ra deep end?
//OOC see the post for all to read here: http://forums.layonara.com/1369962-post11.html
Ah met ra maist annoyin' man in ra whole world ra ither day in Fort Llast. He goes by ra name o' Wimwick Rugratchet an' he's a bloomin' gnome.
He went oan an' oan an' oan aboot devices an' mechanisms until mah ears wis bleedin'. Ah tell ye, ah wid've dun fur him therr, in toon, but Lilyvaen Glensmere arrived an' distractit me.
Ah found that ah could blank oot ra chatter frae 'at stupid gnome jist by starin' at Lilyvaen; oh, an' talkin' tae her too.
Ah'm butterin' Lily up ('at's whit ah calls Lilyvaen Glensmere) by talkin' nice to her, lettin' her cry oan mah shoulder, an' so on. She came wi' me tae get salt (an' ra annoyin' gnome came too - ah swear, ah wis gonni top him doon in ra caves, but ah wis worried Lilyvaen might see, so he survived; fur noo at least).
Anyway, when we got back up top, ah gave her two scroll boxes as a wee present frae me. She wis quite overcome, so ah gave her a long cuddle - an' she returned it!
So, why am ah daein' 'is, ye might well ask? Well, ah kin see sumtime ah may need a female darthir tae help me catch Darthirae, put her at ease, like. Wan plan wid be tae get 'em baith in an inn, an' use Lilyvaen tae gie a poisoned drink tae Darthirae. She wid never expect that frae another darthir, though she might frae me. An' wance ah huv Darthirae, ah kin dispense with Lily, unless she could prove handy elsewhere - she's so simple, she might be useful in other.... ways.
-
Bumped intae a dwarf today. Ah wis doon in ra Vehl Crypts, collectin' sum knuckles, when a wee dwarf came towards me oot o' ra darkness.
He looked like yer typical dwarf, sma', bald an' sporting a wee beard, an' he wis as suspicious as a' ra rest o' em, an' he ca'd himself Klass Hrendhamar. Anyways, we goat tae talkin';
'Never trust an elf mother said. Why trust you?'
Ah replied, sumwhat wittily, ah thought, 'Well ah'm no an elf mother, so ye should be okay.'
Klass said, 'No elf mother? what?'
'Whit's tae trust?' Ah said. 'Ah help you, an' you help me.'
Ah said, 'You said "never trust an elf mother"'
'Me mother said,' he said. 'Never trust an elf.'
I laughed at his confusion, 'Oh, never trust an ELF, no an elf mother.'
Anyway, efter ah'd goat him tae furget whit his mither telt him, he saw sum sense in whit ah wis sayin', so in exchange fur helping him get sum dust, he taught me a whole bunch o' dwarven. Ah jist needs to go an' remember it a' noo.
Ah didni help him wan wee bit, an' in fact, he almost goat kilt by ra zombies, but he came oot o' therr stuns really fast. Need to watch that in a dwarf. Ah watched his styles again though, te see hoo a dwarf fights, an' also to gie me any tips on hoo a fighter fights: (help me if a waant tae become To'ryll's Warmistress). He even went toe ta toe wi' a big undeed right at ra end - nae fear in 'is dwarf.
Strange thing oan ra way oot though. A big hooded undeed locked ra door oot an' tried tae stop us leaving, but when ra dwarf attacked it, it ran away. Ah left a note fur Arkolio, seein' as he's payin' me fur information, like, and this sounds like information.
-
Met up wi ra Big Man this morning, an' we blew ra breeze a wee bit, an' he taught me sum mair dwarven.
A turr'k kh'thk k'azk urra, means I don't trust that one - very useful
Gaarh our'h aoath urr 'al/'ah, means Keep your eyes on him/her - also very useful
anwa means elf, oar darthir, as we wid ca' them.
Anyway's a goat bored wi' him efter a while. Dwarven is so... guttural. But ah huv tae learn it ah suppose so ah kin dae may joab proper. Maybe wance ah've learnt enough frae Big Man, ah'll cut his throat.
Unless he pleads; that wid be fun. Talkin' o' fun, ah wonder where Lily his gone tae...
-
Adder his jist met me again wi' anither joab. Ah told him ah wis huvin' trouble findin' anythin' oan ra Slave Master, but tole him that ah suspected Revonne may be up tae nae guid, even though he wis supposed tae be responsible fur stoppin' ra slave trade.
Storold tole me that Revonne couldni be ra Slave Master, but ah'm hopin' that Revonne gets sum bother fur his troubles anyways, even if he isni ra Slave Master. We dark elves need slaves: whit right does he huv fur tryin' tae stop oor source o' workers?
Anyway, Adder confided in me that he's bin studyin' ra language o' Hell fur sum 8 years noo, but that he needs a new mentor. Ah think he accidentally killed his auld mentor? He said it 'disappeared'. Usually means deed in mah books.
Anyway, ah huv taken ra joab o' findin' him a new mentor, and he'll pay me 5000 trues if ah dae. He'll offer ra demon 50000 fur ra work. So perhaps, an' hopefully, all ah huv tae do is find a name fur him an' no actually negotiate a deal? Although, if ah did, therr may be sumthin' in it fur me. He did say learnin' Hell wid corrupt ra pupil, but? Evil's evil, naw?
Ah'll need tae find oot if demons talk Hell or no'.
-
Ah met up wi' Eriis.
Ah wid like tae add though, that ah dinni trust this man wan bit. He's far too gobby an' disni know his place. To'ryll thinks he's awright, if a wee bit mouthy, but ah knows he waants her deed, so ah needs tae watch him fur her sake. Ah canni let anythin' happen ta To'ry.
//OOC read this link for the rest of this story: http://forums.layonara.com/1377082-post14.html
Anyway, ah met To'ry too an' she is aboot 3 months pregnant noo, an' apparently ah'm ra only wan who knows, tho' Aylana Pandorn suspects. Ah canni believe she used Cra'xis tae father her child - Cra'xis!! He's jist a dupe, a nuthin'.
Ah wis angry wi' her when ah found oot, but she's right tae waant a child; it'll cement her position within Daralith's schemes ah think: even males respect mothers-to-be. Whit she'll dae wi' it though, an' ah think hell'll be to pay if anywan finds oot who the faither is.
Ah'll need tae be especially vigilant fur her when she nears term. it disni bear thinkin' oan whit ah wid dae if she gets hurt.
Ah met up wi' a bunch o' people an' we went tae get fire opals frae ra forest giants.
//OOC read the public version here: http://forums.layonara.com/1381542-post15.html
Ah finished by sayin' a goat stick fur helpin' Lily, like, but man, ah near hud tae kill Eriis fur his cheek. Solena wis giein' me a hard time, like (she knows hoo ah feels aboot Lily) an' she wis tauntin' me, like. Then she telt Eriis tae go an' kill her, and ah hud tae pit mah foot doon, an' order him tae stand still. He said he thought only Solena wis giein' oot orders, like, an' ah telt him if touched wan herr oan her heid, ah'd huv his guts fae garters.
Cra'xis wis in ra backgrund durin' a' this, an' he wis tauntin' me sayin' he wis gonni folli her, an' cut her, an'... ye gets the idea. Solena wisni any better, ah must admit, but ah kin let her away wi' it, but no anywan else.
Ah managed tae get them tae shut up by sayin' ah wis gonni kill her, but efter ah hid played wi' her an' maybe used her tae help me trap Darthirae - that last shut them up. Well seein' they're no smart enough tae see intae mah heart proper, like.
Ah met up wi Razeriem again today, tae sell him two boaxes o’ mushrooms. A guid we earner. Ah met him in Lerningard, near ra far end frae ra lake, an’ he invited me tae see his hoose. Ah never gave it a thought, other than may be useful tae know, like.
Well, we wis flirtin’ wi’ each other, as ye do, and he showed me aboot his hoose. Zari lives therr, oar maybe be jist rents space, but the place wis nice a’ right.
So Raz takes me aboot and drops sum suggestions an’ a’ and we wis laughin’ an’ so oan, an’ he showed me sum statues he hid made. Really provocative an’ sensual they wis, an’ a felt masel’ warmin’ tae him mair an’ mair.
Eventually we made oor way tae his workshop wherr he said he wid like tae dae a sculptin’ o’ me. It musta bin lookin’ at a’ ra art efter so long in the wilds, but ah began tae miss mah auld life. We wis always surrounded by art an’ beautiful things.
Anyway, ah asked Raz if we wid dae it in obsidian, an’ he thought that wis a strange medium tae work in, then asked me whit sort o’ pose ah wid like. Ah dinni know whit came ower me, but efter ah hid looked aboot tae make sure he wis unarmed (an’ checked mah swords too) ah took a gamble, asked him tae turn aroon’, which he did wi’oot any hesitation, an’ stripped intae mah briefs.
He looked at me and his eyes turned soft and ah swear, almost teared – and ah knew ah hid him then. He said sumthin’ like, “Well, ah canni say ah’m surprised,” then we wis tumblin’ aboot ra floor an’ mair naked than a pair o’ new born weans.
Ah left later that night; he wantit me tae stay but ah thought it best tae leave in ra dark, just in case, an’ we exchanged kisses again.
Will ah see him again? It was fun and re-lit me as a woman, but he’s a darthir, an’ if ra ithers goat tae know… but maybe that’s part o’ ra danger in it?
He, it’s mah life an’ whit rights dae thae huv ower me?? I’ll gie his door a knock next time ah’m in toon…
Ah met Gimli again an' he says he his a ring fur me, and waants a deal fur collectin' stuff. He taught me a few mair dwarf words, but he's suspicious o' mah reasons, but ah telt him it wis so we could talk wi'oot any misunderstandin', seein' as hoo ah dinni speak common so well, oan account o' hoo a learned it.
Glad he'll never hear me speak Dark Elven; he wid be blawn away, stupid dwarf.
-
Ah wis gawin' intae Vehl today tae make sum glass (ah huv struck a deal wi' Gimli fur glass) when ah saw Argos Cillnya Stargazer gawin' intae ra crypts. Ah hud bin approached by Aesthir tae find oot information oan Lance Stargazer, and ah 'membered frae mah last time wi' Argos, that Lance wis his faither.
Anyways, we talked a bit an' ah kidded oan that ah wis skerred o' ra undeed, an' hid behind him, an' acted like a wee girl a' ra time, tae try tae get him tae open up tae me. Ah knew his fancies Arabella, but hey, so whit?
So ah wis butterin' him up, like, standin' right beside him, cuddlin' him when ah wis kiddin' oan ah wis skerred, but he wis a true knight an' dedd straight an' widni' return mah embraces. But ah goat him talkin'...
We left efter a while, promisin' tae talk mair - he couldni belive ah didni know who his faither wis - so that might help me squeze gen frae him fur Aesthir.
An' maybe wance ah huv mah informatino, ah'll kill him. Oar maybe jist maim him? Yeah, that wid be nicel Stuck up do-gooder.
-
Bumped intae Razeriem today when ah wis oan may way tae meet Eriis tae dae sum tradin'. Man, he looked great oan 'at horse, an' he asked me if ah hud any 'shrooms fur him.
Ah telt him ah hud a box full, so he goat aff his hoarse an' came ower tae me tae pay me fur them, but we'd no sooner exchanged goods, than ah found his arms aroon' mah waist an' we wis kissin' away like teenagers.
Ah'm shure ah caught sight o' Eriis walkin' past us though. Dinni know hoo much he saw, but ah'll need tae deal wi' him harsh like, if he gies me any trouble. Raz' will be able tae gieme loads o' information, ah'm shure. Might take mah time ower it though; he's awright fur a darthir.
-
Bumped intae may auld mate, guv'nor, and tried oot sum new dwarven phrases ah huv been practicin'.
Ah met him an' said, " 'annur, kaga ak kur la, ye aadra" an' he stared at me.
He looked at me, dumbfoonert. He hudni a clue whit ah wis sayin'.
Ah rattled a few mair words an' sentences oot and he eventually goat annoyed so ah switched tae common fur his benefit.
He he, ah must be gettin' better 'at this dwarf chat.
-
Went tae "help" Captain Rord o' Vehl find an artefact lost ootside Caesin. He wisni bothered if his men wis okay; ah wis gonni keep ra artifact if ah could find it, so ah volunteered as scout.
Gormungard an' Kurm, a kinda dwarf pirate, wis therr, wi' a halfling ca'd Nonac, Aylana (she's nice), Annablelle (even nicer), Argos an' Daniel. Ah managed tae practice mah dwarf aw ra way therr an' back, even though they didni understan' me a' ra time. Ah wis disappointed 'at Gorm widni teach me an dwarf along ra way, even though he an' I go way back.
//OOC Thanks to WitchDoctor Eggy for running the game - great RP options and dicsussions in the group about Rord.
Ah furgoat tae add, a while back, ah wis in Vehl an' met Vrebel an' Tralek Rivermar, an' efter some chat, we went tae ra arena so Vrebel could gie me an' Trally sum fighter trainin', like.
Man, it's tough jist standin' therr instead o' sneakin', an' Vrebel beat ra baith o' us hands doon, when we attacked him singly an' frae ra front. He kept sayin' ah needed mair power in mah strokes, but did agree ra mair subtle stroke did work too, sometimes.
Then it wis oor turn tae use whit he hid shown us tae go at him full tilt. We a' pit oor magics oan an' attacked. Ah sneaked in frae ra back, like, an' danced aboot him when he wis tryin' tae hit Trally, so between us we managed tae really hit him (an' mainly me - man, goat sume real crackers on too, ah kin tell ye), but it wis tough.
Good lessons though an' learned a lot aboot bein' a fighter. They baith said ah wis invited tae learn mair frae them too.
-
'annur karknalar an' everywan else.
Ah met Gimli an' handit ower sum boxes o' glass in exchange for a rig he made fur me. Ah tried oot sum dwarven oan him, like aadrak, an' kaga ak kur la which ah wis proud o' since ah hud managed tae string sum stuff together tae make sense, but he jist looked at me an' smiled. He said it was mah pronunciation that wis aff - me, ah dinni think he could understand me at a'. Ah'll keep tryin' though, aadrak dwarf.
pooa fur noo
Ah hud a fight wi' Nestor today (see http://forums.layonara.com/1388932-post17.html for the public version).
The real reason behind the fight wis that ah tried tae kiss him, an' did, but he pushed me away and started tae get high an' mighty. Well, ah lost ra plot too an' after a bit, ah ca'd him a stupid male and said that we wummin were better'n males in every way.
Well, he blew up at that, and we set to each other. Ah goat a few good hits in, but his spells wis too tough an' he caught me and stunned me wi' a spell.
He cut me bad wi' his dagger, relishin' his first attempts at torture. He sliced away, an' probed wi' ra point o' his dagger a few times, until he stopped after whit seemed like a life time as he saw ah wis near tae death. Ah'm proud that although it wis fun tae start wi', an' it hurt near ra end - ah never gave him ra pleasure o' cryin' oot at a'.
Thinkin' forward, maybe ah could teach him sum tips oan torturin' people? But hoo dae ah gets him tae fa' tae mah charms, ah wonder?
//OOC to reinforce, we both agreed to PvP and used the widget. The fight was IC at all times, and we both logged happy with the events.
I have elaborated slightly more on the torture part here (as opposed to the public version) as geloooo is wanting to shift his alignment to evil, and this he did fully once he had me held.
-
Ah follied up Aesthir's message tae me (he his hired me tae get sum dirt oan Lance Stargazer), an' went tae see ra site he mentioned in his message. Ah took Eriis wi' me, as backup, jist in case.
(See the public version here: http://forums.layonara.com/1390582-post18.html)
There is two graves here, an' while ah wis searchin' a found a buried coin - need tae folli that up, an' efter a while, Lance Stargazer came oan ra scene an' took a few toasts tae ra graves. He moaned aboot hoo he loved them as sons, and blamed himself fur their deaths.
Hmm, need tae dig a bit deeper here an' find oot aboot these graves. Well kept area though; seems he cums here a lot. Could be a possible place fur an ambush, although it seems therr wis fightin' her ower ra years.
Ah'll get Eriis tae dae sum investigation fur me too. Ah gave him a retainer tae dae sum work fur me. Need tae keep oan tap o' it.
If ah gets sum good inside info, ah kin sell it tae Aesthir an' see whit happens next. No entirely sure o' Aesthir's motives, but he seems dead certain on gettin' Lance fur some reason. Seems tae think he his strayed frae ra path o' ra righteous.
-
Oh, ah furgoat tae mention, ah bumped intae Vrebel an' Tralek Rivarmar earlier, an' Trally invitit me tae help him learn hoo tae become a sword fighter... me?
Vrebel is teachin' him, like, but he wantit a sparrin' partner, so he asked me.
Ah agreed, oan condition they teach me hoo tae be a fighter too,'cos ah kin see as hoo ah'm gonni be needin' that sort o' skill in a wee while. In fact, ah met Nestor some time ago an' he said he thought ah wid make a great Warmistress, so that's him an' To'ryll noo who huv said that.
Ah wis so overcome ah tried tae kiss Nestor. Well, ah've written aboot whit happened earlier (//OOC see 2 entries down), but ah didni write ra real reason; so therr it is. Noo ye know.
Me. A fighter! Wow, who'd a' thought.
-
Well, ain't life funny. Ah met Razeriem when ah wis walkin' through Leringard an' he invited me intae his hoose again. He waants tae dae a scultpin' o' me, an' ah'll let him, but a needs tae milk it fur a little longer.
Anyways, he gave me loads o' info oan a coin he found, described it an' telt me ra inscription: it's wan o' ra missin' coins frae Old Captain Twinkltoe - but ah didni tell Raz that.
Tae stop him askin' me why ah wantit tae know so much aboot his coin, ah asked him tae help teach me hoo tae be a better fighter. Well, ah need sumwan tae show me; might as well be Raz, seein' as he's guid in that field himsel', so we went tae ra arena in Vehl and practiced fur hoors an' hoors.
He started by giein' me some tips an' suggestions:
(http://forums.layonara.com/photopost/data/101742/Fighter_training_02.jpg)
and then moved on tae other stuff aboot hoo tae stand, attack, parry an' so oan.
(http://forums.layonara.com/photopost/data/101742/Fighter_training_03.jpg)
(http://forums.layonara.com/photopost/data/101742/Fighter_training_05.jpg)
(http://forums.layonara.com/photopost/data/101742/Fighter_training_04.jpg)
an' finally went intae ra arena tae pit it a' intae practice
(http://forums.layonara.com/photopost/data/101742/Fighter_training_01.jpg)
Well, we wis ferr knackered so we went tae ra inn, an' Raz took a room an' we crashed oot fur ages an' ages, but man, ah learned tons o' 'stuff an' canni wait tae pit it intae practice.
Need tae get me a new perr o' swords noo.
-
Spent ages talkin' dwarven wi' Eriis today.
//OOC see the account here: http://forums.layonara.com/1395182-post9.html
-
Wis gawin' tae dae sum craftin' - ah made sum pies today - when ah met Eriis ootside Vehl.
''annur karknalar' ah said as ah walked up tae him. 'Karkak hu'zznih iznur kark h'nak.'
Well, we laughed an' eventually, efter sum mair dwarf talk, went tae ra arena so he could try sum new spells in combat. An' that's when it went a' wrang.
He wis hurtin' frae an auld wound that hid become infected, like, so when we fought, he wis nae match really an' a near kilt him wi' mah second blow/
Anyways, he fell tae ra ground, then a sort o' mist came ower me an' a h wis back in ra Deep, an' when ah looked at him, cowerin' there, ah became ra true Warmistress. Ah placed may fit oan his back, ca'd him a slave, and liftit his heid up so ah could see his face, then ah plunged mah blade deep intae his side, laughin' as his life blood spattered mah face an' body.
He fell tae ra ground, deed, as far as a' cared, then as sudden as it happened, ra mist cleared again an' a saw him lyin' therr, bleedin'.
Suffice tae say, wance he came aroond, he wis aff an' widni talk tae me at a'. He said he wis reminded o' ra auld ways when ah called him slave and plunged ra blade in - he hated ra blood lust 'at came ower me at that point.
So I turned and walked away frae him, maybe forever. As ah left, mah last words were said in mah beautiful Drow Language,
'Oilmakyacc, lia ceela. E kyecc laelam goleky eo aey kyecc fa ilfca ane ylwamlaanillw lia ilan ilcc, fyan lia irailman fmailgola oem aey', which translates as 'Farewell, my love. I will never know if you will be able to understand me at all, or I you, but my heart breaks for you.'
Ah dinni think ah'll see him again.
//OOC see here for the version for public consumption http://forums.layonara.com/1396562-post22.html. This part adds details that happened after these events and fills in some previously unmentioned details which the reader may have guessed at.
After this happened, a bloomin' bird arrives summonin' me tae see Solena (To'ryll Solen).
Ah wisni gonni go right away, but ah hudni seen her fur a while an' missed her, so ah went tae Leringard tae talk to her.
Well, ah shouldni huv bothered.
Ah gets intae her hoose and she accosts me right away wi' accusations aboot me an' Ni'haer (although she's only angry that ah failed in mah attempt tae seduce him), but she's furious aboot may affair wi' Razeriem.
Well, ah tried tae pit her aff by actin' innocent, but she knew awright whit hid bin gawin' oan. Ah think Eriis his bin yakkin' behind mah back. Wait 'til ah gets him alone...
The long an' ra short o' it is, ah tried pleadin' wi' To'ryll, even usin' her ain name, which she hates me daein', callin' her hunny, which she also hates, but she didni turn an eye at this at a', she wis so mad aboot me consortin' wi' Raz, the darthir.
So she tole me ah hud tae kill him; end o' story; nae discussion; nuthin'. Jist kill him an' then she might let me back in again. Ah appealed tae her seein' as she's pregnant, sayin' he could be useful, ah even kissed her oan ra lips, but she wus fur none o' it an' banished me frae her sight until Raz wis deed.
Ah even let her near strangle me wi' her whip too, tae show hoo repentant ah wis, but she told me she wid kill me right away if ah ever tried tae touch her oar kiss her again.
So ah left her, an' Eriis, who wis in ra background, mah tail doon, but mah heid high. Ah'll need tae think this through afore ah dae sumthin' rash. her hide, she kin be so intransigent. Ah may never get her back ra way we wis afore.
Ra strange thing is, ah coulda kilt her, an' Eriis too, in that room, but it never even entered mah heid. Whit's happened tae me?
-
//OOC see the public version of the killing of Razeriem here: http://forums.layonara.com/1400492-post23.html
So whit did ah keep oot o' ra story?
Ah canni no ever see Raz again. It's no love, but ah dinni know whit it is, rightly. He makes me feel alive, so he dis. Mair alive than ah huv ever felt, an' a' ah knows is, ah canni no ever no see him again.
Trouble is, ah wid be lost if ah never saw To'ryll again either. Whit kin ah dae?
Well, wan thing at a time, ah thought, so ah approached Razeriem an' this time jist talked tae him aboot whit ra dark elves hid telt me tae dae tae prove masel' tae them. Ah didni mention To'ryll's name, oar any o' ra ithers either; that wid be too much o' a betrayal.
Anyway, we made a plan, well Raz did really as ah wis too emotional ta think clear. Ra plan wis that we wid go tae his hoose an' in the small hoors, watch fur locals cumin' doon ra street, then we wid step ootside his door, kiss, ah wid stab him (a' so the people could see this, o' course). The tricky part wid be tae stab him somewhere that wid leave some blood, but no anywhere vital. Raz came up wi' ra idea o' sum animal blood tae drop oan ra grund.
So he's supposed tae fall after ah stab him, ah run, he rolls towards the house as he hears the locals approach, swallows a potion to make him invisible, and then he takes off out of town for a day to make it look like he died.
Ah wid just run aff intae ra shadows.
Wance this hid happend like ah've said, ah sent a bird tae To'ryll, sayin' ah hid dun ra deed.
Ah'm noo waitin' oan her summons - ah dinni know whit ah'll dae if she disni buy it.
-
Ah spent ages wi Ironfist raday, sittin' at his feet, learnin' mair dwarf talk. Ah worked real hard an' eventually goat his praise - my, my.
Ah said, 'Ye know. ah think it wid be easier if ah jist thought in dwarven, instead o' elven, then common, then dwarven?'
he said, 'Aye lass. I'm no expert, but that sounds like a better idea to me'
Ah wis encouraged by this, so ah talks tae masel', sayin' sentences an' puttin' words together in unusual ways tae hear them in mah heid afore comin' oot wi' them.
'Ye know,' ah said, 'ah think ah'm beginni' tae think like a dwarf too?' And shuddered at that that thought, then laughed.
Ah then said, very flatly an' unaccented, no trace o' mah common apparent, 'Kururt lurhrark paok lazr. A azl khurnn poazak an k'azrgth an pooa.'
He clapped his hands and seemed pleased by her efforts. 'Well done lass. That was even better than I can say it.'
(http://forums.layonara.com/photopost/uploads/36/Teaching_dwarven.jpg)
Praise indeed. Ah hope ah kin continue tae think like a real dwarf so's ah kin understand them better.
-
Went tae mine opals raday an' met up wi' Klass Hradhammer an' Kurn Blackwater.
Ah spoke sum dwarven tae them, tryin' oot may new grasp o' therr accents, syntax an' so oan, but we wis fightin' a lot, so ah'm no makin' a big deal o' it. Anyway, ah goat tae practice sum mair, an' that's whit counts, naw?
Kurn is a bit o' a killer though; ah'll need tae watch him ah think. Oh' an' met Czukay as well - man, he's strong. Kurn ca'd him Count Czukay, he jist introduced hissel' as Czukay, so that's whit ah ca'd him.
pooa karknalar fur noo
-
To'ryll's birthin' day. Big day; ah hope ah kin get in tae see her an' ra wean.
Ah goat a' tarted up, an' looked mah best, but ah couldni get in.
//OOC see the public version here http://forums.layonara.com/1403182-post24.html (http://forums.layonara.com/1403182-post24.html)
Mah heart is near tae breakin' noo, an' ah dinni know whit tae dae. Ah luv To'ry, but she disni luv me back. Ah huv feelin's fer Razeriem, but ah dinni think it is luv; but maybe his spell is takin' me frae mah ain kind.
Ah dinni know, an' ah dinni huv anywan tae turn too. Naebody will understand; humies an' darthirs will kill me oan sight, an' noo ah think many o' mah ain may do ra same. Eriis wants me deed and Naster his made his views obvious.
Whit kin ah dae? ... wait a minute though, Tyillaan is a dark elf, an' she an' I is close. Maybe... maybe, ah could talk tae her. She might understand me and help me... maybe. Ah jist dinni know...
We solved ra pirate coin lore an' made sum coins frae it.
//OOC read the public version here: http://forums.layonara.com/1405332-post25.html (http://forums.layonara.com/1405332-post25.html)
A few days later ah wis wi' ra gang an' we met up wi#' Kurn an' Log, Tyillaan and others ootside Misted Village. A battered away at mah dwarven and goat sum new stuff back frae Kurn an' Log, so ah goat loads o' practice in.
New place tae me, an' it wis tough, but we survived awright.
When ah goat back ta Leringard, ah could noo wear mah new Adamantium Clothes, mah new boot, an' ra braw necklace Arolio gave me - he's named it Duchess's Amulet - sweet. Ah wis walkin' through ra streets when ah saw Raz, an' as a surprise, he took me tae buy a horse as well.
Wow.
Ah'm dedd chuffed wi' her, an' ah've ca'd her Moondancer (but in mah ain dark elven tongue). She's dedd bonny; ah'll need tae take care o' her.
Better'n a wean any day.
-
Well, well, ain't life funny.
Ah met a cleric o' Toran an' ah wis tryin' tae charm him, ra usual, when he says he hus a load o' silks he didni waant. It turnd oot they wis Queen Silks - wow, so ah promptly took them frae him (fur free too!) an' struck a deal wi' him tae make him wan lion bag fur 4 boaxes o' Queen Silks.
He didni take long tae think aboot it an' said he wid dae that right enough, an' good as his word, a few weeks later, ah met him ootside Hlint wherr he gave me two boxes.
These Toranites is a funny lot - oh, an' he ca'd Trenton Bartholomew - never asked me mah name, so ah didni gie him it.
Talkin' aboot Toranites, ah need tae tell Aesthir that ah've found oot that Lance married a Corathite priestess, an' sent his son tae study at ra feet o' an A'zaatan dark elf priestess. Noo ah dinni care aboot gods, but she's dark elf - ah mean... whit's a Toranite daein' knowin'ly associatin' wi' a dark elf?
Sumthin' strange gawin' oan in rat Lance's heid, ah kin tell ye.
Met ra Boss in Vehl today, Arkolio, an' we passed a few pleasantries. He hus a joab fur me though, he said, but he asked me if it wid compromise me.
Ah asked him whit ra joab wis an' he otld me that Razeriem hud embarrassed him, an' so he wantit Raz hurt, by way o' payback.
He wantit tae know if may relationship wi' Raz would interfer wi' ra joab. Ah looked at him and asked him if he wantit Raz hurt temporary oar permanent. Ra Boss laughed at that an' said he hudni thought it oot, obviously, as he hudni thought o' that. He said he wid think mair oan it an' let me know.
Ah'll huv tae think oan it too - it may chnage mah relationship wi' Raz an' a h dinni know if ah waants it tae change. He dis like Sasha, an' ah think he'd spend time wi' her rather than me, nut ah sort o' expect that anyways.
Whit ah could do though is see whit ra Boss waants tae happen, an' a could hire some people tae dae it? Ah could arrange an alibi, like; plausible deniability, srto o' thing. Keep half ra money? Oar a could split it wi' Raz an' laugh, but that wid sever mah ties wi' ra Boss, an' that wid be silly.
Nah, let's see whit he waants.
-
Ah huv bin remiss at kepin' this up tae date. Ra Boss is deed. Arkolio hus gone aff tae ra big casino in ra sky.
He's left sum stuff behind, ah'n ah hopes tae pick it up, but big boots tae fill.
Need tae get in touch wi' his contacts and see whit ah kin dae.
Vehl wid make a great place fur dark elves tae cum tae. Ah wid keep it strict an' law abidin'; nae murders oan mah watch, well, except wans ah wantit murdered, but ye get ra idea.
Ah could charge people an entry fee? Plough ra money back intae ra city, efter a wee skin tae me, of course.
Need tae talk tae his auld 'pals'.
-
Ah huv spoken tae Sasha and she hus telt her accountants tae gie me ra books tae take over frae Arkolio.
Whit ah didni realise is that Sasha wisni privvy tae everythin' Ark goat up tae, so ah must remember that an' keep ra mair, 'subtle', things frae her.
She says Dogboy is gonni get involved, but she didni know aboot ra RedArm gang, an' presumably no aboot Dogboy's gang either, so need tae warn him aboot it.
Ah met Sil'via Serissa In'Darus and her half-sister, Huntemara. Sil'via is a real man-eater, but ah think ah like Hunty mair. Ah'm sure that's because Hunty is so innocent and ah canni wait tae corrupt her (she draws a little evil face here):D
Tae that end, ah'm givin' her some wee presents tae ingratiate masel' wi' her an' so she'll accept me wi'oot question. She already knows ah'm a dark elf and is happy wi' that, so ra rest should be easy. Oh, ah'm so lookin' forward tae this.
//OOC see the public version of the start of the 'presents' to Huntemara here http://forums.layonara.com/1450592-post30.html.
Duchess had spare skins for both sets of armour in a chest ready to replace the grizzly leather and the white stag hide, so it cost her nothing to give them to Huntemara; in return, she hopes to endear herself to Huntemara with such simple tokens.
-
Ah met Xanya fur ra first time an' man, she's sweet an' innocent. Ah wis like a spider, playin' wi' her an' reelin' her in, like.
Ah'm gonni try tae hurt her in some serious way though - take mah time an' enjoy it too. 8) (a drawing of a small evil face is sketched here)
*This journal entry is written in dark elven. Duchess has known for some time her common is not good, and hopes the nuances she needs will be easier to write in her own tongue.*
I met up with Brian again. He was part of Daralith's group (//ooc on his WLDQ) but I was guarding To'ryll again. Brian, Ni'haer and I were told to patrol the edges while Daralith and To'ryll persformed their rituals on our latest captive. Not for the first time, was I impressed by Brian's talent for being able to disappear from view, and wondered how effective it could be.
I walked up to where I last saw him, using what shadows I could,but even then, he remained hidden to me. My lens of seeing didn't reveal him either. I decided then that this was a skill I needed which would make my position as Warmistress of our enclave solid. No-one would dare usurp my position if I could add those skills tomy own, I am sure.
I heard a whisper from Ni'haer, which snapped me back from my reveries. It seems the Hlint gard had been summoned and two men led the group. At this point, Brian appeared at my side and motioned for me to target one of the leaders, and he would target the other. Ni'haer could handle the troops with his demon and spells.
Brian and I aproached our targets, and I waited for Brian to strike first, so my target''s attention would be distracted. As I watched, Brian materialised behind his target, attacked, then vanished again. I was about to strike mine, when Brian appeared again and killed his foe. I struck at that same time, catching my opponent off guard, and slew him before he could react - a lucky shot perhaps. But I pondered. If my victim had not fallen, would I have possessed enough skills to take the fight to him? I know, after watching Brian, that I would have no difficulty if I had his skills.
Needless to say, we destroyed the forces from Hlint and allowed Daralith and To'ryll to complete their rituals, but I made up my mind to talk to Brian.
I met Brian in Lerinard and he took me into his room. We spoke at length and he has agreed to help me train as a shadowdancer, if I help him learn our beautiful language. I told him I would start right away and he began some basic lessons there and then for me, which I will continue to practice.
I had spoken with Ni'haer earlier and asked him his advice on training Brian in our tongue.He told me that he had been Brian's teacher for a time, but had given us as he found Brian too unintelligent. This gladdened me, as I would not want to betray out tongue, yet at the same time, need to learn Brian's skills.
I was out in Vehl Port some days letter and met Leisa Margreve. We spoke about Arkiolio's death and I asked her about her skills for hiding and she said she would help me too. Excellent news and I must admit, I prefer Leisa's company to Brian's. There is something about him I do not like, or respect, but I will use him and discard him when the time comes.
I continued to practice Brian's thoughts and included a few from Leisa as well.
*Updated Bio - in pursuit of Shadowdancer training*
Following her connections and contacts with some of the "less desireable" elements in the world, duchess has become involved in several exploits of dubious natures. These exploits have given rise to new challenges, new promises, new futures, and a look at the skills and talents of the others she has met with.
Watching some in particular, she has realised that the skills possed by Shadowdancers would meld with her own skills perfectly, to allow her to become a better assassin int he first place, but to also make her better able to hold any future positions of power, which she intends to pursue.
How difficult would it be to kill someone who can use whatever shadows are around to hide in front of a would be attacker?
How effective would those same skills make an assassin the course of her preferred profession?
She has the skills, the need and now the desire to accept some training and take on this new challenge to become the best she can be.
I went with Huntemara to help her get some things she needed for potions. I was in Mariner's Hold, trying to use some Dire Tiger skins, and I thought I would endear myself more if I helped her.
We went out to the forest and there were some giants around some trees that had nuts she wanted. We got ready for battle, as always, and as always, I sneaked up to the first giant and managed to hit him hard and within a few strokes, he was dead. By that time though, the others were descending on me fast, so I stepped back and tried to use the shadows to hide so I could strike again. It seemed to work, or perhaps it was luck, but they turned on Hunty and attacked her instead.
I struck out from the shadows again and killed one with my first few strokes and they turned on me. Again, I stepped back and again, tried to use the shadows, but this time Hunty got in a great slice and they turned on her with a vengeance and before I could get in another blow, they felled her.
There was nothing I could do, but, I did not need her help, so didn't try anyway as I was concentrating on my skills in hiding. So once again, from the shadows, I lashed out and killed the last few remaining giants.
I when to Hunty then, but she was past any help I could administer, so I went and rested to wait to see if she would return from her stone.
I can hide well, but it takes time for a target to lose sight of me so I can return for another attack. If I can get that time, well and good, but I know I saw Leisa and Brian do it almost instantly. I want that skill now, and badly.
Once I master that art, I will become a force to be reckoned with.
Hunty came back and wis okay, an' ah helped her, so she likes me mair an' mair, so it seems mah plan is workin'. Ah even stole a wee kiss oan ra check frae her and she's laughin' mair, so she's relaxin' aboot me noo.
Ah almost canni wait tae hurt her, but ra pleasure is in spinnin' it oot.
This is a quickly scribbled note, written in haste.*
I have just discovered a way to make this work!!!
I went back to the Bech Mountains on my own, and killed a tiger, surrounded by creatures, and killed them all by attackig, hiding, attacking, hiding - until they were all dead. Oh this is delightful and how much easier once Brian has shown me a few more tricks.
Need to get back and practice with the giants here too..
I met Sasha earlier and she told me that Caerwyn and a few others owe The Vault money, and that it was my new job to go and get it, or at worst, a deposit from them.
I got to try my new found skills out then, for on the way back, I tackled a large party of giants. I sneaked up on one and killed it before the others got to me. I ran back around some trees and hid adnd they lost sight of me. I waited a short space, then sneaked back around and killed one from hiding, right in front of the whole lot of them. By the time they reacted to me, I was back around the corner again, and hiding in the shadows of the trees.
I repeated this until the whole lot were dead; oh, what joy. The problems are time and the ground they are on. I may not have the luxury of time, and usually the terrain does not lend itself to this sort of tactic.
But once I perfect this, the whole process will be faster and I will truly become a force to be reckoned with.
I have tried this on animals and it works even better. I was out on the Dragon Isles looking for some bear skins and used the darkness to walk around the renders that were there at that time. I thought about this and I was sure I managed to make the shadows even come to me a little, to help me hide better.
Anyway, hiding like this, I stole up on a bear and slew it from the shadows, and returned to them again before the stupid trees were even aware I was there. I stared at the shadows for a little as I was sure I could see some sort of creature there; almost as if it was awaiting a command from me. That would be useful, but I am still overjoyed by the ease with which I can use the shadows now. I must thank Brian when I next see him as his his help has been useful; although I will not let him know that.
I have got it now. I have worked out a plan of attack that is exceptional and leaves me in the best position.
I went to the mountain cave out by Brech Mountains with Ironfist. The cave is open, and has lots of rocks and stalagmites jutting out of the floor. The stupid giants throw boulders at you before they attack, and I can dodge them like a child.
The plan I developed is Ironfist stands to the rear (the boulders hurt him a lot - need to remember that) and I used the shadows to sneak up on my first victim. I attacked from hiding, stab, stab, and knock the target down and as he falls, kill him. Then I run back to the nearest stalagmite and hide in it's shadow. The stupid giants see me go, but then lose track of me.
I repeat this again and again with amazing success until they are all dead, and I am untouched.
The other plan is similar, but I attack one in a large group and kill it, and by then the others have charged me, so I run behind Ironfist and let him take the brunt, then I move behind them and do it all over again.
Oh, this is the way I was meant to infiltrate all along and be devastating in action when there is need.
I have it down pat now. I was out in the forest and bumped into Huntemara on her own, and together we tried my new tactic on the giants. It works a treat and I have found that if I can knock them down from the shade of the trees, it works almost all the time and can kill the giants very quickly.
I also found that I can lure them, run around a corner and hide, and they lose sight very quickly, so these giants must be quite dumb.
Later on, Hunty challenged me about an incident with her sister, Sil'vya InDarsus, which left me in a bit of a fix. I think I wriggled my way out of it, but only time will tell. Sil is a real predator, where Hunty is naive, so I would rather drop Sil and butter up Hunty as the reward for me will be all the sweeter.
We'll see. I have to talk to Sil first, and that will not go well.
I have now tried this tactic on spiders as well, in Silkwood, and it works really well. There are more shadows in the caves, so it is even easier. I have tried to actually get the shadows to come to me to help me with a bigger group, and sometimes I can feel it on the edge of my senses, but it slips away.
But the spiders are not as dense as the giants, and they run faster too, so I need to be more careful with them as they seem to be able to keep sight of me, when when I hide around corners. But I am perfecting this hiding skill am becoming quite adept at it.
Never mind, it will come, I know it.
Halrath Thundergust - I need to remember that name and his voice. He surprised us last when Daralith was in Silkwood with a cleric, making wards from her breastbone, and we killed Halrath when he wandered into the place where we were.
He thinks we were all Corathites, so our disguises worked, and he has sworn to take vengeance on a thousand Corathites, so that is even better. But his memory of voices and faces could be a nuisance, so I need to advise the others of this.
He had done me a favour though. My version of common is perhaps too recognisable.
Perhaps I should see if I can do something about it...
Adder has got in touch with me again. He has made me an offer to meet with Milara, which I hope will result in me becoming the new Slave Master, following Ark's untimely demise.
I will need to be on form and ready for any response; and I can allow myself to show no fear. I am confident though; after all, I am a dark elf maiden.
Adder has also asked me to kill the Rael Ambassador to Hempstead - publicly and very messily. I will need to gather as much intelligence on this person as possible, then farm the job out so someone else - perhaps Dog, Wee Man, Big Man, and Guv'nor. Not sure about Jehoram at all. Adder has allocated a large reward for this, and although my cut is only 5%, it will still prove worth while.
I have now had Ni'haer get in touch with me to find out information on Adder. It seems Adder has asked Ni' to provide him with a fresh corpse, of a 100 year old elf, murder on a specific time of night. Ni' is not confident Adder is to be trusted and has asked me to find out information on Adder, his associates, plans, and so on.
What a twist.
I cannot reveal too much information; after all, Adder is a client. On the other hand, Ni' is blood kin and is very useful (and I think he is beginning to fall for my charms as well). This is a real quandry.
I shall need to reflect more on this and be very careful I do not jeopardise my own ambitions for Ni'haer's sake.
Perhaps if all I reveal is public knowledge, that may be enough. I shall need to think most carefully.
Well, it seems we may have started our house...or at least make the first steps.
Ni'haer and I have been lovers for nearly a year now, and he has taken me into his confidence on some things. I still do not completely trust him, but he is ascending and so I should rise with him as well.
He had to go to the Deep to meet with the priests of Baraeon Ca'Duz and we enlisted the help of Steel as the muscle, and To'ryll as the priestess. I still dislike that woman most strongly and would see her lowered into a deep pit...but Ni'haer needs her so I will allow her for the moment.
After a long struggle we eventually got to the city of Olath Lieanirmecwylaan and To'ryll went to her temple and I followed Ni'haer to the one of Baraeon Ca'Duz.
He raped To'ryll (I can not think of there union under any other terms) to produce a daughter and then we made love for many hours to conceive a son.
We spent two years in that city and made many attempts to make inroads into their societies. By the time our children were born, To'ryll's was taken by her priestesses and our son was handed to the Dark Silk Weavers to be trained, in what I hope is for a future of power.
I tire now, so I will write more when I have the energy, but for now, this marks a new change in direction for me, and.... for my own house now.
