Title: Problem with in game lighting

For a few minutes I was wow.. Looking at the interior of the silkwood cave as I had never done it before.

But my awness lasted only for a mere minute as it reverted back to the old lighting

Is there a reason for that?

Is the problem that the caves shouldn't be getting dark or that they shouldn't be bright?  I'm curious because the dark caves look fantastic - like caves!  It is weird to have the light suddenly shift in the Foundation warehouse, though. hehe

I have noticed this even inside Iradril's house.  Though, just as a new day dawned, the lights went OUT in the house.... rather opposite to what I'd expect.  This is a neat effect if done for buildings that would have windows.  But it should not happen whatsoever in caves.  

I have also noticed the "red lights" go out in the Red Light Cave..... It just becomes a normal looking, dark cave.

Frankly I much prefer the darker lighting for caves. Looks more natural and also, from talking with others, they feel a lot more deadly too. As one would expect.

Although in this case, it wasn't the dawn thing. I don't remember any messages that said it was now day, when the lighting changed.

There's a similar transition at dusk, only in the opposite direction.

Aye I can understand this but at this instance, there wasn't any mention of the dusk in the server mesage window. It just happened like that. But eh!

I have noticed that at times, lights come ON in the caves when dusk sets.  Very odd behavior, really.  Also, in the Red Lights, if you go from one level to the next, the lights are still on.  If you return to the level you were on around the dawn/dusk change, the lights are still out.  It seems as if they have to wait for the clean-up script to fire or something before the lighting is reset.  
 
 Should just grab a test pc and watch it for yourselves.  It's kind of eerie.  
 
 At first I RP'd it... as I was looking around staying alot more vigilant than normal.  But as I noticed it seemd to be occuring around dawn and dusk, I just started to ignore it really.

The effect is really apparent in large buildings like the guild hall.  At dusk it gets very dark despite torches/lanterns.  I rather like the effect in caves though.

For me it seems it gets dark at dawn, and bright at night...

Noticed this for the first time the other day Orth.  Now, I don't know nothing about nothing, but it looks to me like something got switched on to allow day and night light transitions on interiors.  In the toolset there's that box you check for night only, day only, or day and night.  I'm not sure what happened, but it's kinda looking to me in game like the night onlys are rotating to day.  Orrrr.... the interiors not marked night only are suddenly transitioning to day lighting for the first time (where before something was tweaked with the interior setting to just not recognize the day).

That's my simple take on it at least.

Good thought, and when I first observed it I spot-checked some of the areas, but the Day/Night config/cycle setting was as it should be.

I've also observed the area going dark at dawn and light at dusk.  Usually transitioning in and out of the area once dawn/dusk has passed will reset the lighting to what it should be.

Maybe global/world options are over-riding the individual area options, or the areas themselves aren't clearly specified as indoor areas?  *shrugs*  Just guesses in an effort to help.  If these've already been checked then I'm sorry if I've wasted time with this post.

Though I do think the darker look to the caves is a lot cooler..  makes bringing a light-source along a bit more justifyable and the overall feel of the caves more cave-like.

With the new lighting scheme, the Stormcrest Shack interior is in need of some lights. :)

well I'm thinking that for the caves you could set them to night only so they look dark and gloomy, light doesn't go deep in caves anyways, so that would fit the feeling there.
