When transferring items anywhere in inventory into a bag/box/crate the pointer auto drops the carried item and if over another item replaces it switching places? Or you drop an item in a container and when you release it the container (Box or bag) is auto lifted to your mouse?

that's because your mouse may be really sensitive and it double clicks on the box, giving the program the commande to pick it up. As to switching item place, if you try and put an item over an other item, the item you were moving around will be placed in the first available space, usually its the bottom of a page gong up, first page of the inventory first, I think.

Same mouse I have been using for over a year. This something new that popped up recently. I try doing moves slowly and it still happens. Even moving items from container to container this happens.
-
make sure you have cleaned it recently the ball the optical eye the laser tube cover, just a standard screen wipe will do the trick

Some mouses are not that durable as others, so the mouse buttons you have might have gone from not-so-sensitive to super-sensitive mechanically (moving parts) in the time that you have used it. Do similar situations happen outside NWN/Layo for you?

I have the same issue on occassion with my, though its on-and-off.
This can be deadly if you cast spells in battle, since the double click cancel's the spell.. and you can stand there like a doofus being hit.
Same for placing items in a chest.. the double click means it goes in.. and then straight back out.
Resolution: Seriously whack the mouse a few times. ( Works for me )

Its a wireless mouse. Tried new batteries. Seems a click and release of the button still holds it in the mouse grip and another click to drop works. Always click and held to drag ... could be gunk inside ... not a mechanic. Thanks, for the help and suggestions. :)

Have you moved something on the table or the reciever?
My wireless mouse have the same described problem if something blocks the reciever.

Its in the back of my keyboard via usb port. But I only moved it from the pullout shelf to the table top maybe 4 inches above it.
