Would improve critical give anything to someone using a bow? since the bow only get a critical when a nat 20 is rolled, what would that feat give?
-
(19-20)x3
-
The feat would expand the range to a 19-20 roll for a critical threat. As the feat suggests, it adds an increase to the threat range for a given weapon equal to the range it had previously. So, in the case of the bow, it has a threat range of (1) or 5%. Add another 5% and you get a range of (2), or a 19-20 on the die. And having a 10% chance of to crit for a successful attack roll is much better than 5%, especially since the bow has a x3 crit multiplier.
EDIT: Chongo beat me to it, and of course his answer is correct and far less wordy than mine.

What all gets multiplied on a crit for bows? Just the initial 1d6 or 1d8 roll, or the elemental damages? What about composite and mighty gear enhancements?
-
Was wondering also keen edge would apply to it. I know the bow is ranged, but it uses arrows that can do slashing damage (owls feather). Or is it really hard coded for melee weapons?
-
Keen edge only works on slashing weapons. The primary arrow type damage is piercing, and the slashing in that case I think would be add-on damage. Keen unfortunately would not have an effect on bows. Hmmm, perhaps throwing axes? Never tried it before.

Same as every other weapon. If it's between the attack bonus and the saving throws on the character sheet... it's getting multiplied.
That's the simple answer that works for me at least.

Keen Edge works only on Slashing, Melee weapons.
LORE: Keen Edge (http://lore.layonara.com/Keen%20Edge) (Perhaps should list melee-only?)

You can make LORE edits, Stephen. ;) But since you didn't, changed the description from "slashing weapon" to "melee slashing weapon."

... True. It didn't occur to me when I looked at the page as a Guest. ><;
If I can get my computer working again, I may start browsing the feats. :)
