Title: Chronicles of a Warrior
Post by: willhoff on September 10, 2009, 05:59:09 PM
I have decided to put ink to partchment so i can make sense of all the things that go buzz in my head.  I hope by doing this I can make sense of them and gain some knowledge of the path or paths which i should take to advance my skills as warrior and a person.

I know that I am a good fighter but I want to be great.  I have seen those who weild a weapon as though it is an extension of themselves, Sasha comes to mind.  I do envy her skill with a blade and her prowess in battle.

I have started to study the moves of these folks who seem to have mastery of their weapons.  The have grace in battle while i have only brawn.  I will need to find a trainer worthy of me to show me the ways of those who master their blades.  They will have to be someone I respect in battle not just for their skill but their courage and wisdom.  Meanwhile i will try to get more educated about this legendary Mastery of steel.  I am a slow learner but find myself gaining knowledge albeit slowly.

My goal to achieve mastery of all weapons from Greatsword, to Shield and Bastard sword, to Bow are darn near complete.  I have acheived a level of proficeincy in all these forms of combat but yet something is lacking.

It seems to truly Master something you have to focus on that one thing.  My heart and soul tell me the Greatsword because it is a feirceome blade in battle that draws fear in the hearts of my enemy.  It cuts through most armor and magic better than most blades I have used or seen used.  I like the way it feels when i hold it, at first it was heavy but lately i have been able to use its weight to my advantage.

The bastard sword is good especially when used with a shield so that i can deflect incoming blows but it does not feel as good in my hands.  I want to do maximum damage to my opponent and only the greatsword can achieve this.  In fact, I need to bleed in battle, it draws me closer to my enemy and after my first drop of my blood is spilled i gain a respect for my opponent and my senses in battle are hightened.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Sasha in the great forest.  I was thrilled to have the opportunity to fight along her side.  After some small talk I kinda hinted that i might want her to train me.  She said that my blade was much larger and heavier than hers so it may be different.  I see her point but skills are skills and I may be able to learn enough from her and and her relationship with her weapon to transfer the knowledge and apply it to my greatsword.  She didnt say no so I didnt push it.  I learned alot fighting along her side.  She is able to get into a defensive stance that helps her to dodge and block incoming attacks while at the same time being able to counterattack.  An impressive skill that I watched her do on several occasions.  I will try to practise this move later on.

Another possiblilty is this Shiff guy.  I dont know much about him but I have seen him weild a mithril greatsword with the same proficiency as Sasha.  I may have a chat with him if I run into him.  He's a bit elusive and old but you never know.

For now I continue to use mainly my Greatsword in battle, it has almost become my hallmark or namesake if you will.  I have named it Vrebel's Valor to inspire me and remind me that courage in battle is rewarded by success.

I had another encounter with one who has mastered his steel.  Fehriel, a ranger who learned to master his two bladed sword and a good friend ageed to show me a few moves.  He demonstrated what is called a whirlwind attack.  An impressive display of dexterity and finesse I must say.  He leaps up and spins with his sword in a full circle.  I'm sure it must have taken him alot of practise.  The move seems very effective while surrounded by your enemy.

He agreed to help me learn it along with another battle move, were he gets into a defensive stance.  I have seen him do this while fighting along side him and it is truly effective in deflecting and dodging incoming attacks.  We met near Corax lake.  He tought me the stance, called expertise, and showed me how to get in the stance and attack while in the stance.  Apparently the trick is to keep your weight on yer back foot so you can lean back and dodge incoming attacks.  At the same time you can spring forward and attack your opponent when the complete their swing.

I think I am getting the hang of it.  I have tried using this technique in battle but with little success.  Now with his demonstration I think if I practice this some more I may very well master it.  It works with either shield or my greatsword.  As I prefer the greatsword I will train using it.  Its a bit different using it with the greatsword as you actually use your weapon to block incoming attacks, whereas with a shield obviouisly you would deflect incoming blows with the shield.

Maybe I'll have two masters then, hmm *thinks*.  Yes, If I can gain insight from Sasha and also Fehriel then maybe I can combine the two techniques.  Sasha is more experienced that Fehriel but Fehriel uses both hands to weild his sword as I do.  This may work well.

Success!  I have learned how to get into the defensive stance Fehriel was talking about.  I have learned to place my weight to my back foot and hold the stance.  It affects my swing a little bit but not much.  With this stance it seems i can parry and deflect most incoming blows and as I get better most all I think.  Fehriel tells me that learning this move along with Whirlwind attack will give me the complete set of battle skills to move on to mastery of my sword.

I still need to get better with my chosen weapon, my greatsword.  I use it almost exclusively in battle now.  I just upgraded to Mithril. Wow, its a much lighter metal and truly swings like the breeze itself.  The edge is sharper and with my improved skills I'm truly forming a relationship with my sword.  With my greatsword in hand I feel like my partner is with me and we do battle together.  One is not whole without the other.

I am still eager to learn the other skills Fehriel uses.  He is able to evade most any kind of incoming attack, even fireballs and boulders.  Truly impressive, and will be a worthy addition to my already growing abilities.  But I must conscentrate on the skills neccessary for true mastery of my blade before I lean the more delicate details of stealth fighting that Fehriel uses.  If i am ever able to someday put all these skills together in some form of cohesive attack I will truly be a formidable adversary for any I come across.

Still looking for a master to train me and I think I like the idea of two masters, Fehriel and Sasha.  Although I have yet to have her agree.  Maybe when I give her these rods she has asked for I can approach her with my request.

I have trained again with Fehriel the weapon master.  We met in the arena and he tought me how to do the whirlwind attack.  I have been trying to do it by myself but could never get all the way around.  He told me that I need to train my muscles in the stance before I can perform the full move.  Once I get the muscles trained and my body is able to twist freely in that stance it will be easier to do the attack.

He tought me how to get  into the stance and then told be to hold it till it burned and then hold it still for five more minutes.  Ouch that was difficult.  My body is strong but having to remain and hold there was excrusiating.  As instructed, before he teaches me the entire move I will practice the crouch and hold technique.

*For the next months each day he practices the crouch and hold technique 100 times a day*

*Vrebel continues his private training and the stance that Fehriel taught him.  During one of his many training sessions by himself he begins to get bored of holding the same old stance over and over and decides to practise the full move by himself.  He completes is successfully but it is awkward at best*

I have done it!  But I will need more help from Feh before I can really be effective.  I look forward to our next lessons.

Horray! I've purchased a house at last.  Best thing is my new neigbor is my trainer, Fehriel.  I met him outside his house today and he showed me his war room.  Quite impressive, he had training dummies and all and lots of room.

It is here were he showed me how to complete the whirlwind attack move.  I tried it like he said several times but failed.  He told me I needed to meditate and think about the move in slow motion before I tried it again.  Me and him sat and meditated together for what seemed like an hour, probably shorter.

After the meditation, I tried the move again and was successful! I have now learned the last of the battle techniques used by the weapon masters.  Now Fehriel tells me we need to find my Ki and learn how to control it and funnel it into my weapon.  This I look forward to.

*Vrebel after seeing the power of the mind in helping him to master the whirlwind attack begins to practice his meditations.  He finds a quite corner in his new home and sits down to meditate.

He mentally goes through his new found move over and over again in his head.  He consentrates on using his greatsword while performing the move and how best to hold it and swing it.

He also goes over all the prior training he has has had with Fehriel in the past and the various moves he has mastered up to this point trying to incorporate them in various battel situations.

He practices his meditation more and more everyday as he sees the benefit he gets from it in battle and in his wellness of being.  He has a new found strength and vigure and it comes from within.

As he pracices his meditations he has also found a deeper relationship with his greatsword.  By meditating on how to use his sword in various situations he finds each day that he holds it that it becomes more  a part of him and less a piece of metal.*

We went out gettin' wood today, me, Fehriel, Abi, Tralek, and Darthi.  After we had gotten most of the wood and killed some nasty druids Feh asked me how my whirlwind attack was comin'.  I told him I had completed his assignment of 100 whirlwinds in one day.  He seemed pleased and then asked me to do twenty whirldwinds in a row right there in front of everyone.  I was already pooped from cuttin' wood and fightin' but I did all twenty with me greatsword "Vrebel's Valor* in hand.  I was impressed how each time I do it it feels more natural.  Sometimes I forget I'm even holdin' me sword.

He's tough but a good trainer.

Back again at Fehriel's house for another session.  This time Fehriel told me how ta meditate and learn to call upon me inner energy otherwise known as Ki.  We sat and meditated for a long time.  I was told to focus inward on myself and my breathin'.  He said that Ki is like a gently flowin' river in your body that can be harnessed by your will.  Seemed to make sense ta me a bit.

After a while of meditating I started to feel all tingly inside as I consentrated on tryin' to tap into the energy he called Ki.  He said the tingly feeling was a good thing and that it meant I was learning to recognize it.

He then instructed me on the proper fighting stance so that I can maintain my balance while fighting. The trick is to keep your right foot back a bit so you can rock back and forth and use your pelvis or a mid section to thrust with.  This position alows ya to harness your Ki and focus it into your weapon as you rock forward and thrust out to attack your opponent.

He demonstrated this motion for me very slowly on one of his many dummies.  He then told me to practice this very move two hundred times a day for a month.  Sheesh he's gonna kill me before me training ever ends.

*For the next month Vrebel practices the exact same move 200 times a day.  Sometimes his hands are so calaced and bloody at the end of the day that he sleeps with them rapped in cloth.  The blood and sweat on his hands and the hilt of the sword almost form a glue that makes it hard to tell were to distinguish his hands from the greatswords hilt.  His sword and his body gradually become more as one through this training and repitiion.  Along with the daily meditations he begins to feel and use his inner found strength more and more in every swing.  His greatsword rarely leaves his sight and he feels a need to keep it close at all times.*

After some meditation I started back on that dummy.  I got in the stance and tried focusin' my inner energy into me swing like Feh taught me.  Everything was goin' fine till I felt this surge of power in me swing.  Darn dummy got split in half.  *shrugs and mummbles to himself* Must be defective er somethin', I really should go have a talk with that merchant in Lor.

Anyways, I got some more dummies and went to work on em'.  I still havent got that feelin' I had before I smashed that one in half.  Maybe I need to meditate on it some more.

*wanders off to his room and meditates*

*For the next couple months Vrebel continues to practice on the dummy attempting to focus on harnassing his ki.  He meditates more and more each day as he finds it relaxes him.  It is helping him to visualize his swings and his stance and his sword all as one motion like breathing.  The meditations also help him to get in touch with his inner self and his Ki, allowing him to control its flow.*

*Vrebel lays down by the lake side after finishing a long early morning hunt.  He looks at his face in the reflection of the lake and something comes to him*

Thats it I think.  This inner strength or Ki, flows from within to my extremeties.  It has allowed me to gain power I never knew I had.  The sword, the greatsword has to be like my own body before I can focus this new found power into it.  That is what I felt a while back when I cut that dummy in two.

*He rolls over on his back and meditates by the lake on this discovery*

I Met up with my half orgre friend and now teacher, Rottie, in the arena today.  I was with him when we were enslaved by the slavers from Arnax.  We were forced to fight arena style as gladiators.  It was here were he met a fellow gladiator who trained him in the ways of a weapon master.

He may look dumb, but Rottie is wiser than an owl.  I asked him to train me to be a weapon master and he agreed sorta.  I told him I was already trainin' with Fehriel so he gave me some helpful insights.

He said ta think of it as yer arm got severed and some cleric came by and grew ya a new one.  But this time it had a sword attached to it, or it was a sword or somethin' like that.  He said your Chi as he calls it, flows from within and should flow to to the very tip of yer sword, just as if it were the tip of yer finger.

He dropped a coin and asked me to pick it up, but with me greatsword.  See Rottie weilds a greatsword as well so he's just like me.  I thought he was crazy, but after several failed attempts and after thinkin' on it I was able to flip the coin over to check its other side as well as pick it up.  I then gave it to the nice hostess in the arena as a tip since she was so hospitable.  She didnt like havin' ta take the coin from the tip of me sword but I told her it was part of me trainin' and she looked like she needed the coin.

He told me that I should do everything with my greatsword including eat with it.  Use it like it was my arm and my hand all in one.  He said once ya do this for a while it will become and feel just as natural to me as if it is part of my body.

Rottie also said I gotta think more in fightin' too and be smart.  I gotta try and figure out what my opponenent is gonna do next so I can get their quicker and then use my ki, or Chi to feel my sword to his sweet spot and do maximum damage.  He said its not all about power but placement and timing of my hits.  Its about releasing my Ki at the perfect moment in battle through my sword and into my opponent.

*For the next couple of months Vrebel does most everything with his greatsword from eating with it all the way to picking things up.  He sleeps with it in his bed and showers with it.  After numerous cuts and nicks he starts to learn how to use it as his hand and it suttle ways.  He has given up handing trues to merchants with it as some merchants reactions were less favorable than the hostess in the arena.*

*Fehriel greats Vrebel at his house once more. They move into the dojo and they prepare themselves for their meditation. Once the hour has passed, they move toward the practice dummy*

"Alright Vrebel, show me what you have trained on."

"Pleased of what he has seen he nods*

"You have trained well, now it's time for the next practice. he next Motion is the slashing down. Now instead of a twisting motion of your hips, your back leg will serve to push you forward slightly, and you bring down your sword in a straight line. From the top of the head, in the middle of the eyes, ending to the groing."

*Fehriel shows him the motion in slow motion*

"now it's your turn"

*After looking at Vrebel do, and correcting the flaws in his motion Fehriel tells him to practice that motion 200 times a day, for the next month*

*After the training session with Fehriel Vrebel sets about for the next month to practise 200 times a day the new slash down method he learned.*

Wow this is gonna be really fun.  I get to feel the top of my opponents head with my hand, um I mean my sword, and cut him strait down, like I'm openin' up a crate er somethin'.

*Before each practise he meditates on his moves and all he has learned bring himself and his sword closer and getting more and more in touch with his Ki*

Another Valuable session with Fehriel.  As usaul we started the day with a good long meditation at his home.  He then made me hit the dummy a bit an show him what I had learned and all.  He seemed pleased with my progress and corrected some minor stuff here and there.

He then told me to break down the initial move he showed me, which has three parts:  The stance, the pelvic loading and twist, and the final forward  thrust.  I explained all three parts to his satisfaction.

After that he demonstrated a brand new move.  Using the  sames stance as before he swung his blade in a sweeping crossways motoin at the dummies kneck just kniking it with the tip of his two bladed sword.

He explained that it is an effective move fer being able ta carry yer Ki to other opponents and not usin' it up on one guy.  I attempted the move as instructed and he seemed pleased enough to call it a day.  As usual he told me to practice it 200times for the next day.

*After this Vrebel goes and meditates on what he has learned.  He then proceeds to practise this new move as instructed two hundred times on the following day*

After an excrusiatin' and tirin' trip down and into the rift and back Fehriel said it was the perfect time to meet in the Arena for another lesson.  This one seemed special as we were going back to the arena instead of at his home.

He was more quite than usual and we meditated at far opposites of the arena square both of us in our own solitary castles.

The time came when we both sat up.  What happened next was quick and I knew what he wanted.  He motioned me to go and I summoned my inner Ki and rushed him with my greatsword in what would be our final battle.  He rushed too and we met in the middle of the arena our swords clashing.

I tried to knock him down and him me but we were both too disciplined to go down.  Everything I had been taught by Feh seemed to come instinctively.  My stance, my pelvic swing, my sword seemed like it was had disappeared and become an extension of my self.  I felt my inner Ki rushing through my body and I guided it into my sword at just the right moments.  I delt blow after blow to Fehriel and he tried to counter doing his best.

In the end it wasnt about who won or who lost this time.  I had won, as I  had become a master.  After the battle Fehriel bowed and quitely called me master.  My face turned red with emotion but I controlled my self.  I had achieved what I had worked so long and hard for.  I felt like huggin' him, almost, but we were both tired and worn out.

I gotta say its an honor to have achieved this level of fightin' and I owe it all ta Feh and to Rottie's wise words.  I look forward to what Feh said is just the beggining of my journey as a weapon master.  He will stay near and continue to guide me on me path which I am greatful fer.  A new day has dawned fer this old warrior and I walk lighter from hence forth.

*Fehriel looks at his journal for a while before starting to write*

Here I go again, writing in you, journal of my dreaded past, reminder of broken dreams, pain and frustration.

I write in you not to give news or joy or future plans, but to write down the fact that I have passed on the knowledge of the weapon masters, as Kyle has done to me.

Vrebel was a fine candidate to start with. A good fighter, a good friend. Good heart to go with it. And when he showed interest in some of the things I could do I knew that sooner or later he would come and ask me. And in such he did.

So over the last year, I have been training him. First training his mind, to discover his ki. Then showing him different technics. He trained hard and long for it, and gave me a beating to remember for. I have to remember not to teach people in the future that could send me to my grave in the last test.

I am pleased though to call him a brother, a master.

Another day in my walk.  I have kept up my meditations as they are a part of my self now.  I think that these meditations are really what has changed my way of thinking, its incredible.  My ki flows freely into my sword these days and with each day I can feel it grow.  My control over this inner energy is getting better the more I practise and meditate.

Feeling tired now, time to rest.

*Vrebel falls to sleep at the base of a hickory tree not too far from castle mask, his greatsword and journal nestled in his lap*

Another break through and this time a big one!  I woke up one morning and like usual began the day with meditation.  After the meditation I started my daily workout and hitting the dummy with my sword.  I shattered it in half just like I did way back when.  This time I knew it wasnt the dummy.  It was my ki, I have found a way to focus my energy into the sword that gives it incredible power.  If  I swing through properly and his the dummy with just the right timing I can deal out damage I have only experienced once in my life.  But now I have mastered the technique and can reproduce it in battle.

I have also watched Tralek in battle and am very intrigued at his new fighting style.  He uses stealth and angles to hit the enemy in battle.  These angles allow him to strike at the enemies "sweet spot" as he calls it.

I have told Tralek now its time for him to teach me some things *chuckles*.  Funny a mage teacnin' me how ta fight.  Anyways, he said he'd show me some time.

*Vrebel continues with his day to day training in furtherance of his mastery of  his greatsword.  He continues to watch Tralek in battle studying his moves and also studying his new found mastery at picking and disabling traps*

More good news to jot down in this lil' book.  I have been practicing and practicing and I think that I've become more proficient at executing that ki critical strike.  I have noticed that I have been able to manuever my sword in battle more efficiently and and achieve critical ki damage more frequently.

I feel now with this breakthough I have truly mastered my greatsword. *smiles and taps his quill*

I have asked Tralek to start to train me in the ways of stealth combat and manuevers.  I wish to learn how to hit my opponents from the flanks and into their sweet spots.  I believe blending this form of strike with my ki damage will be most devistating to my opponents.

While training with Fehriel I also witnessed these moves as he taught me to be a weapon master. Now along with Tray's training I think I could master this art of battle and stealth.

I also with to dodge boulders and fire as I have seen Tralek do.  Maybe one day I can also spot traps and disarm them in the field.  This will make me a valuable asset to a party I think.

*goes to wake up Tralek for his lesson*

*Vrebel comes back into the house dusty and bloody.  While relaxing in his tub he pulls his out his journal and starts to write*

I have conquered the rift *smiles*.  Today I went and gathered fine diamonds, cobalt and adamantium ore all by myself, well also my sword *grins*.

As I was approaching the bridge that leads to the ore I spotted a darkie scout.  I drew my bow and was able to cut him down long before he was able to holler to the other darkies.  It must be that I was using stealth and was able to get into a striking position like I have seen Tray and Feh do before.  These skills are proving most useful.  Before I would just rush em, but now I use my wit and stealth to pick them off.

As I crossed the bridge I was able to spot one of their traps.  I was able to skirt around it to avoid it.  Maybe with some training from Tray I can pick it up one day so know one gets hurt.

I also used stealth tactics when fighting the darkies near the adamantium, I would draw the warriors out and cut them down, repeating it until there numbers were down to nothing, *grins*

A successful trip in honing my stealth skills.  I will do it again maybe soon.

I talked to Tralek today and he told me about the vital spots to hit on an opponent.  He went into detail on how deep the cuts need to be to peirce them and the various entry points i can use with greatsword to either peirce them or slash them.

Some cuts will kill almost instantly like a slice across the jugular on the throat while others will draw out blood at a constant rate weakening them in battle.  Vital organs are different as far as how long it takes an opponent to die...like peircing the heart ofcourse will kill an opponent quickly while a lung puncture could take more time.

He has shown me how to use the greatsword to strike at these areas as he weilds a greatsword as I do.

Well after seein' Tralek bein able to dodge just about every giant strike while we were in the great forest I got to askin'  him how he does it.  He said he's able through his stealth trainin' be aware enough of his surroundin's that he can move  out of the way before the weapons hit em'.  I tried to watch him more in battle to figure out his style and it seems its almost unreal how he can dodge those strikes.

So he's been showing me how he does it at the house and such.  He blind folds me and gets his staff, *grins* didnt know he had one.  Anyways, he goes around quietly and starts wackin me with it.  Dang thing stings when it slaps ya.

At first I though he was just doin' it to take cheap shots.  He told me to relax more and try to use my senses to feel where he is, to hear the wooosh of the staff before it hits me.  He also told me to get up lighter on me feet so I can dance. Hmm, dancing in battle, kinda like it.

Anyways through lots of days of practice I aint gettin hit as much and I think I'm getting better at anticipating those blows, least I got less bruises than before.

*Vrebel continues throughout the months training with Tralek using various techniques to help him learn how to dodge incoming attacks.  Tralek also explains how to strike at vital areas with both the greatsword and basically any other weapon that is conveintant at the time.*

Well I got into the arena today with Tray and Ty.  Ty wanted to do some experiment tryin' to find traps that Tray set so I figured it was a good time to learn and improve on findin' and disablin them things.  Tray laid down his trap while we closed our eyes.  Ty went up first and found it purty soon and it didnt take me long to locate it either.

I tried to recover the trap but I still dont know how those things work and as much as I tried I couldnt recover it.  Then Ty, with the help of all of Tray's trap gear was able to recover the sucker.  That gear seems real nice.  Once I learn the teqnique ta gettin' these things back or at least disablin' them I'm gonna get me own trap kit like Tray has.

Next came the fun part.  Tray had me dance with Ty *chuckles to himself*  Guess she never danced with no one cause she seemed purty timid.  And to make her experience all the more memorable Tray told me to and her to try and stomp on each others feet.

At first I didnt understand the stomp part but after gettin Ty's heel punched into my toe I caught on real quick.  The next time she tried it I, out of reflex, dodged her heel this time.  My turn to stomp on her but I went easy and took off my boots.  So we did this fer a while, kidna a weird dance but I got the idea.  Gotta be quick and light on yer feet and anticipate yer opponent to do dodge like Tray does.

Tray also said fer me to practice dodgin fireballs somewhere.  He gave me some pointers on how to anticipate the fireballs, boulders and such that were comin my way and then said I should go out and try to dodge em', but make sure they werent empowered *chuckles*

He also said I could learn alot from watchin and studying creatures who used flankin' or sneak attacks.  So guess I'll head out somewhere and see if I can study em'.

*Vrebel continues to practice the dance moves with Ty and Tray throughout the months so he gradually gains his ability to anticipate and dodge attacks and spells*

After breakfast I decided I felt stupid enough to go dodge fireballs in the Ire mounts as Tralek suggested.  I also used this opportunity ta try an sneak up to em'.

I decided the armor was still too clanky so I wore my stealth gear along with my hood.  Soon though i will hopefully have enough padding in the right places as Ty suggested that my armor wont make so much noise.  That way I can at least be able to get behind an opponent while in battle and plant my greatsword in his  gut as Tray intstructed.

Anyways, so I went out there and got purty close usin stealth before the shaman saw me.  He started into his chants and I knew it was bout to get hot.  He started workin a some fire into a ball and then let it launch in my direction of course.  I saw it coming but the flash makes it awful hard ta dodge something do big.  It singed me purty good but I was able ta move just in time so he didnt get a direct hit.

Second time was better, I learned not to look directly into the fireball but kinda to the side as it came in and ducked and rolled.  It still burnt me clothes up a bit but I started learnin' that these fireballs could some day actually be avoided if i keep trying and practice my rolls.  If I can get quick enough and duck just in time I think I can avoid em'.

*For the next few months Vrebel spends time out in the ire mountain fields practicing stealth monuveuvers and ducking, rolling and dodging fireballs while fighting the local gnolls with varying degrees of success.*

*Vrebel finds a soft area of grass near the outskirts of Bydell Castle and starts to right in his journal*

He didnt tell me they go invisible!  Darn Kenku know spells er have potions er somethin'.  Luckily fer me I always carry round my trust lense, er lenses, I got two.  Some smart gnome invented em' way back when I'm told.

Anyways, it gave me a good idea about how they fight and use concealement to their advantage.  This is a teqnique I could use as well as soon as tray makes me more of them concealment potions *smiles and checks his utility belt*

So they come up on me and seem to try and get up real close and with a quick thrust they start stabin' at me in various places which I took note of.  They went mostly fer me stomach area, groin once *grunts* bastard, and one tried to come up behind and stab me in the back round me kidney's.

They use a lighting quick motion but very well aimed.  The whole move was so quite that sometimes I didnt realize they were attacking until I hear the pitter patter of my blood fallin' on the leaves.

Luckily with this bark skin up and my mithril armor not much can get through with these.  Now the darkies in the rift is a different story.  Those fellas are a bit more well trained and have better equipement.  Well best patch meself up and get some rest so I can go out and master their moves.

*Vrebel continues to enter the kenku fields outside Bydell castle on and off again for the following months until he has their every move memorized by heart*

Tray gave me another trainin' lesson today.  I told him about the gnolls and my fireball dodge trainining so he decided to test out how much I learned.

He got me up on the stage in the back of our house and then shot one at me.  I managed to dodge it purty good but his fireballs are quicker and hotter than the gnolls ones.  His knowledge of the Al'noth and his dodgin' ability really help him in dodgin' things and he is a good teacher.  I have ta say bein' round him all the time it does tend to rub off.  I think I'm gettin close to were I can dodge a gnolls fireball all together one day.

Tray also gave me some more instruction on were to hit an opponent to do extra damage.  He quized me on the vitals and said I should have them memorized so when I'm in battle hittin' em' will be as natural as me swingin' my greatsword.

He also said a large part of his uncanny abilities at dodging blades, boulders, fireballs and stealth striking opponents is anticipation.  Being able to anticipate what will happen next in battle maybe two or three steps ahead gives you that extra advantage to take the neccessary precautions or stance .

Awareness of yer surrounding in battle is also important.  If yer fightin' someone in battle and ya have an opportunity to swing on his friend who aint lookin' you take that shot everytime.  Bein aware of a giant that just grunted while he is throwin a boulder at you gives you the split second difference that allows ya to move to the side so it dont hit ya.

Lastly he told me that a good stealth fighter is good at catchin his opponent off guard and then swingin' on his vitals.  Tray said my knockdown swing is perfect for disabling my opponent so his gaurd is down allowing me to hit his vitals.  Thats it, he said you have to learn how to get yer opponents gaurd down and sieze that opportunity to hit the vitals everytime.

*Vrebel puts his quill down and goes to practice the techniques that Tray taught him on the dummy.  He swings at the vital spots over and over hitting the vitals only.  He practices this type of fighting on the dummy every day in the months following.*

*Vrebel slides for hours along the jagged walls in the darkness to a spot that he feels is safe enough.  He waits for a while until he hears no sounds of those he spotted at first*

Seems I lost em'.  *Looks around* This seems safe enough.  *Vrebel then opens up his sachel and takes out some tinder and starts a small fire, cooking something quickly that looks like meat and then breaks out his journal and begins writing all the while keeping an eye out into the darkness*

Well I decided ta come back to the Rift and bring my trainin to this awful place.  Them darkies are real sneaky like and they know this place like the back of thier hand.

I took out that one that was trakin' me.  He had a full head of white hair rolled up in a pony tail.  He was tryin' ta sneak up to me to hit me in my vitals like Tray taught me.  I made it like I aint seen him comin' up so I could see his technique.  He came up from behind and drew two swords, one in each hand.  He was real quite like and with a quick thrust went fer my back sides lookin' ta stick me and puncture me kidney's.  I dodged just in time so he's just grazed me and brough my greatsword to the show.  His red eyes lit up and he started ta yell somethin' but you cant talk very good when yer throat is slashed open.

These darkies are well taught in the arts of stealth and if you get surrouned by the white hairs you best be callin' to yer god er gods cause they'll cut you down in no time.  They are far more deadly than the kenku I fought out by Bydell and move with a grace and  fluidness I aint seen in a while.

They seem keen on layin' traps, they also like throwin' somethin' at you to disable ya, but I've been too quick for their bag of tricks ta work.  Their are also fierce warrior darkies down here as well.  The stealthy types usually got white hair like the one I put down.  Once you start fightn with the warrior types ya better be lookin' round cause if theres a white hair in the group he'll stick ya like Tray has taught me.

I best be stayin' here fer a while and fight some more of em'.  It dangerous but the only way fer me ta perfect my skills is through real battle with an opponent you can learn from.

*Vrebel remains in the Rift for months fighting various groups of dark elves.  He pays close attention to the sneak attack tactics of the white haired ones and thier movements in battle.*

I decided to tag along with Tray today in the dessert.  He said it would be a good opportunity fer us to further my dodgin' and sneakin'.  We sadled up and rode out to Corax lake.  I left Toozoon, my trusty steed, at the lake as I needed ta practice me foot work and it dont work real good tryin' ta sneak up on somebody while on a horse *chuckles to himself*

We entered the dessert and soon enough then giant wizards started tossin' fireballs at us.  Tray told me to anticipate the fireballs by readin' the hands of the wizards.  He said if ya look real close you can see em' congurin' up them balls in their hands before they let it go.  I did what he said and it worked.

Once I knew what ta look fer I was ready ta practice my dodge tecniques on the incomin balls.  As instructed I dodged and rolled out of most of em'.  I also had to do this while bein attacked by the lakies.  This was an added challenge but I wanted to challenge meself.

We praticed sneak attacks on giants when they were stunned, in darkness, and distracted while fightin Tray.  All good times to slide in a greatsword between their big rib bones.

Tray said that he thinks I'm real close to being able to finally dodge some fireballs all together.  He also said he's noticed alot of improvement with me sneak attacks and keepin' my footin' when I'm gettin' flanked from an opponent.

*When Vrebel gets back he continues to pratices with the dummy hitting the vital areas in order of how he remembered them.  He practices his stance and balance and quickness as well.*

Tray has started to teach me the art of learning and reading various magical items.  I have long enveiyed his ability to cast magic and how he seems to be able read from priests scrolls and use magical items that we find in our travels.

Tralek has taken it opon himself to train me in these ways as well.  He brought our various scrolls, wands and other items and layed them out in a circle for me to study.  He showed me how to resite the words on some of the scrolls.  He also demonstrated to me how he goes about using a new item he finds and that its basically all about breaking it down to its essential components and finding out how they work together.  Kinda like tinkering a bit.

I'm a great tinkerer and so some of the items were purty easy fer me to take apart and play with.  Its kinda like a puzzle that ya gotta solve, some are more difficult than others.

Anyways he's left these items in this circle and if I got questions he said I can come ask him fer help.

*Vrebel spends the next couple of months each night before he goes to bed sitting in the circle and going through the various items and scrolls reading some, destroying some others in the process, and asking questions to Tralek when he can't figure an item out*

Took another tour of the Rift today.  This time was with others, namely this Jake fellow with an eye patch who seemed alergic ta everything, Ty, Tray and Anrdraia, a beautiful priestess of Kitharian.

We had little trouble slicing through the spiders and snakes.  Jake sayed back sence he was alergic.  I along with Ty practiced our sneak attack manuevers and dodging techniques.  Tray would give us little tips on our kills and check the entry points on the corpses ta make sure we were hit em' were we should.

I studied and learned from Ty as she uses the bow fer her sneak attacks.  She has to get close enough ta get a clean shot but it seems effective enough.

We came to the darkie bridge and Ty tried ta disable one of them traps.  I studied her technique and watched as she approached the trap as she looked around and slid her feet feelin' fer any change in the terrain.  Then BOOM! Um she missed one.  She was goin fer the far one and walked right smack into a humdinger.  I learned that you cant be too rushed in pullin' these traps.  Those who lay them can be clever and put a real obvious one right next to one that is heavily consealed to lure some poor chap into the good one.

Ty recovered after numerous bandaging but she learned her lesson too I hope.

We spent the rest of the weeks down in the Rift with Tray tweakin' and adjusting our fightn' and dodgin skills.  The golems unfortunately dont got any sweet spots so we had to go old school on them.  But the darkies were great pratice as we learned as much or more watchin' them attack us as we did attackin' them.

*Vrebel takes the lessons he learned from the Rift and encorporates those into his daily regumine for the following months.*

Tralek decided to take me out to the great forest to continue my training.  As we were approaching Hilm on horseback he told me that this would be my final lesson as I have learned everything he could teach me.  Daunting at first but I was happy that all my hard work and training had paid off.

Upon entering Hilm we were greeted by the mighty warrior, Wren.  He also knows and fights in the ways of stealth like Tray and my old instructor Fehriel.  He said he was done with his business in Hilm for the time being and would help me with my training in the field.  I was overjoyed that he agreed to help train me.

We cut through the giants using the tactics Tray explained.  Wren decided to take point and let me flank the giants from the side hitting their vitals.  Wren was good at showing me were to postion myself with hand jestures while he fought.  He told me when to hit and helped me with my timin'.

I also continued my dodging and rolling techniques on the incoming boulders that these giants love ta throw.  Like Tray said its all about aniticapting them comin' in and following and learnin' the angles the rocks take and how long they stay in the air.

We fought for days.  Tray used darkness in the Trollocs.  The darkness gave me a great chance to sneak up on them trolls and place my strikes.  With the sight I could see everything and really study my opponent up close and his vital areas before striking.  I studied them after my strikes to observe how their bodies reacted to my cuts.  Some were slowed down other hobbled around depending on were I hit em'.  The big ones that dual weilded were real good at dodgin' my best shots even in darkness.  I studied thier moves and how they dodged seein' how I might use these tecniques in battle.

Wren had to eventually make camp.  Tray and I continued my battlefield trainin' on dodgin more boulders and sneak fightin' in the darkness.

At the end of our weeks long hunt Tralek proclaimed that I had learned everything he had taught me.  He seemed pleased in my progress.  Wren also said I had done well.

I know that this kinda fightin' will help me to be more effective in battle.  I have wanted to train and learn these techniques ever since I saw Feh use them in battle and during his trainin' of me as a weapon master. I hope to learn new aspects of this art including figurin' how to use wands and read scrolls, disable traps and sneak up on opponents.  The world is wide open fer me now.  I am excited to continue in this new way and hope that it will save the lives of my friends and innocents in the days to come.

Commin' inta Vehl I had the luxury of meetin' the queen of stealth, Duchess.  I asked her if'n she could spare a few hours ta teach me her ways.  She said she'd be glad to which made me happy cause I know how good she is.

We went to the arena fer starters.  She told me to go behind the pillar and try to use the shadows to sneak up on her.  As I got around the pillar and started toward her she broke out in laughter, busted.  I tried again and again but the mithril half I was wearin' was givin' me away.

I then swithched into me goin' round clothes, made a cloth and such.  She said that was a bit better but me skills werent up ta par still.  She gave me this cloak that seemed to cover me in shadows and said to try again.  I put it on and this time I got pretty close before she saw me.  Seems if I just practice me foot work I can get this quite stalkin' stuff down.

She then taught me how ta sneak attack as I was walkin' up quite like.  She said the trick was ta hit and run back in the shadows and then strike again till theyre all dead.  I tried that a few times on her so I could get the motions down.  I liked this approach if ye got em' singled out.

She told even better is if I can knock em' down.  That way you can pick and choose wear ye want ta hit em' while their gettin' their feet er claws back.  That worked real nice since I already know how ta knock somethin' flat on its feet.

We sparred back and forth through out the day  and she tried her stalkin' stuff on me too.  She was real good but I was quick too.  I was reactin' like tralked taught me.  I couldnt see her till she struck me but if I was quick enough I could knock her down and then she was toast.

We took the tactics out to the country by the glooms woods on the filth out there.  I used her cloak again and was able ta sneak right up all the way on one of em' and knock him down quick.  The other two saw me though.

She was a great help in teachin' me how ta move silently and in tha shadows like.  I hope we get ta do it again.

*Vrebel practices the hide and move silently steps Duchess taught him for the next couple of weeks in the arena and out at the glooms near Vehl*

My reputation preceeds me *chuckles to himself*  I got this letter from "The Operation" that they needed my services.  Met this gal named Kate Dawley at Fort Thunder.  I brought a bunch of my friends not knowing if it was gonna be a shakedown er not, Gorm, Ty, Duchesss and Tray.

Dawley said she had a job fer me.  After talkin' in private she explained she wanted me ta fight in some travelin' fight show.  The whole thing was rigged n' I was ta make some killin' blow in the fight that looked like me opponent had keeled over from a heart attack er somethin'.  She said she wanted me to deal a sneak attack that looked natural n' all.

She wanted proof I could do the job so we set off around Arnax pickin' fights with the regular scum that inhabits the area.  I tried my best te lay a sneaky attack with me greatsword but I kept cutin' em' in half *chuckles*

She said she was impressed with me strength but I needed improvement in me sneak attack so it wasnt so obvious I was the one doin' the cloberin'.  She gave me lots of pointers on how ta go in sneaky like.  She even got me to drop me greatsword breifly ta try and kill off the poor basterds with me skinin' knife, hehe.

Well in the end she said I wasnt ready but that I should keep up me trainin'.  I was a bit disappointed, but it inspired me ta get better and better at sneak attack and evadin' things.  Not sure if I wanna deal with that kind of operation again though.  Made me feel kinda funny.  But it did teach me a bunch about how te hurt yer opponenent the most in battle.  Heck, I'll take it were I can get it.

*Vrebel goes off to train vigourouly in his speed and delicacy in sneak attacks with Tray.  He also looks for Duchess as well as others to train with*

Gota get this mess cleaned up.

*One of the artifacts he's working with suddenly explodes covering him with ash*

Darnit! I almost had it.  impressed with me reflexes though hehe *shakes his hands out*

Almost finished with these.  Those over there are the hardest.  I really need ta ask Tray again how ta make em' tick.

Least I got one thing down.  After my run in with that Dawley gal and train'n on what she said I can finally hit a feller's sweet spot.  Still need ta work on me thrust and twist but I'll get it.

I have finally perfected the movement!  I can evade their magic and their boulders, most at least.  I still must work on me quickness and me moves.  It'll all come tagether one of these days *crosses his fingers*

I got bigger fish ta fry.  Seems our little diversion goin' after that Raelian prison so our group could skate by has caused a bigger mess.  Half of Rael's army is at Lor's doorstep and its knockin'.  They claim its darkelves but I know better.

I got Angela's back on this and I aint givin over Alantha so Rael's outa luck on that one.  We'll see what they say when we talk to their escort next week.

*Vrebel looks over his war room and grumbles at the mess with all the artifacts and scrolls still lying about.*

I really got ta pick that back up again.  Soon, but fer now I'm gettin' better and better at this sneak attack Tray showed me.  I just got te get quicker  with my thrusts and learn ta anticipate my opponents moves better.  I gotta feelin' I still can do more damage just got to practice more and meditate more.

The evasion moves are really helpin' me stay alive out there on the battle field.  With Rael's boot on Lor's doorstep who knows whats gonna happen next.  Its like all they need is one crazy move by lore or someone from Lor and they'll just rush on in and take it.

Heck they may just say hooyey and take it anyway.  I've been makin my regular patrols checkin' on their numbers and such.  If they come I will meet them on the battlefield and defend Lore with all my might.  Sasha told me she was gonna fight Rael too if they attack which made me feel real good.  If it does come ta war I'll make sure ta fight longside her.

Got a new apprentice it seems.  Some fella names Finn.  He's ruffer than I was round the edges but I think I can train em'.  We'll see, but maybe teachin' him will help me perfect my skills better *shrugs*

Well back to sneakin' *heads to the practice dummy and gets in stance*

*Vrebel breaks out his journal with a grunt as he hold the side of his left rib*

Been a ruff couple of months.  Drachs invade Morakens.  Rael inchin closer to Lor.  Plague in Hlint. Things aint lookin' too peachy.  We had a strong group defendin' Morakens from the Drach raid but we got cut down all the same.  These drachs are provin' ta be a real pain in my arse.  I have fallen more times in the last couple of months than I have for many of the years I have beeen adventurin'.  Not sure if its me gettin' rusty er the opponents I'm facin' gettin' tuffer.  Maybe both.

I miss Tozoon.  Still shaken up by me death that day.  Was ridin' ta fort Gorge on her and was in the roughlands.  Missed the turn off and slam in a hive of blue snakes.  Tozoon did the best she could but she's gettin old like me.  We both went down quicker than you can spit.  Milo, that funny little halflin' druid, came to me aid but he didnt last long either.  I respect him fer helpin though,  brave of him.

I obviously need more trainin'.  You can have all teh skills of a warrior but if ya cant concentrate and focus durin' battle or just plain ridin of horseback yer not much good.  Focus, concentration, patience I need more of.  I need ta get back to the basics and remember the essentials of battle.  If ya got one of them rare moments in battle ta think...do it.

My sneak attacks are gettin more effective and I'm gettin close ta breakin through on learnin' these runes.  I need ta use everythin' at my disposal as a fighter including magics.

Benn goin' to the rift alot these days for ore.  I had a good day there recently.  I took on the elite shadowsongs and warriors down by the bridge all by me lonesome. Five of them to me one.  I lived they did not.  Focus, concentration, attention to details, hit them were they hurt, knock them to the ground, take out the strongest opponent first, pick your fights dont let your fights pick you.

Our first assignment.  The SSS snuck inta Kuhl.  Steel, Tray, Tod, Andrew, Gorm, Viper, Azk'a and myself.  That place is crawling with em'.  We skirted the edge of the forest checkin' there numbers.  Lots.  We encounter all kinds of em' big ones that sneaked, mages types, archers, winged soldiers.  Great trainin' and I did well.

As we were leavin' we got ambushed by a big black a horde a drach types and this mage I aint  never seen before.  Big black packed a powerful punch but Gormy did good holdin' him off.  They kept comin' though, hordes and hordes of em'.  In the end it was too overwhelmin' even for our tight group.

That oracle was quick and had a battle prowess I aint seen in them types ever.  He rode in on the black.  I really wanted that black.  We almost killed em too.  Drachs were too much fer us.  Kept distractin us from the black.  I fought my fight though.  Duckin and flankin' and killin'.  Lots of killin'.  The big ones needed ta be taken down cause they will put a good man down with two sneaks.

I regret two things:  Not puting one of them flags of might down ta boost our fightin capability...shoulda planted on right behind Gormy.  Two, should spent less time on that Oracle and more on killin' the drachs.  Oracle seemed ta run outa spells and I shoulda left em' he was consealed er something, moved real quick.  Soon I'll be able ta read them breach scrolls so I can strip that mother.

Soon.

Seems blood is gonna be spillin and lots of it.  Drachs have marched inta Hilm Protectorate and headin' toward the castle.  We are at war.  Finally.  They took out Sundance purty easy as the folk were unprepared fer the assault.  There marchin' on farther and farther in as I write.

I'll do everthing I can ta help fight those slimmy hissers.  Seems Rael has turned his attention away from Lor, at least temperarily, and now thinks the Cults out ta get him too!

I dont believe none of what comes outa his mouth.

Latest news is Cult hissers comen ta Lor via two ships and four dragons by way of sea from Belinara to the desert near Audira.  Heard some guard talkin bout it in Lor.

That the only way I hear things recently bout anything.  All were gettin is bits and pieces from that  Council.  Tried ta get involved and sit in and her greatness, Daniella sent me and Andrew away ta go find scouts in Wolfswood.  I went cause it was important but I knew she was shewin me out before they started talking bout tactics and such.

All I can say is they better know what their doin cause they aint envolvin' no one in this thing.  Ya cant win a war when all ya do is keep things ta yerself and babble about religion and politics all day.

Lance seems ta have lots on his mind, and rightly so.  He's a good leader I just hope he dont try and do it all himself.

Trainin goin' good and I'm able ta learn all the circles of scrolls now with some help.  Soon I'll be readin' em secon nature.

Time ta close this and get back ta trainin'.  Heres ta a free Hilm and Lor and death to the Cult.

*Vrebel ducks into a dark stoney archway and closes the small wooden door.  In a rare moment of calm Vrebel sits and leans his head against the wall, a small window sheding the late evening sun into the room. A shaby excuse for a room but it is his only refuge from the choas looming all around Fort of Last Hope.  He opens his small journal and tries to write, his hands bloodied and rough from battle*

South wall has been decimated by Ract what ever his name is.  The lizard said we have one month and then he'll come back and destroy us all if drachs havent over run us yet.

I've been commisioned as a captain of the North wall by Commander Daniella.  I'd never thought I'd ever have a title and never looked fer one.  I'll take the commision as this fort needs leadership if we're gonna come outa this siege on top.  Not sure what I'll do with it after, but it does sound kinda nice.

Drachs have tens of thousands outside on all three areas of the Fort.  So far were still holdin but the West wall is in bad shape and of course the South just collapsed.  Good thing is we killed all three of their dragons with the help of Argali's balista's and dragon killin projectiles.

I dont know how much longer I can take bein held up in here.  My troops on the wall impress me more and more each day.  Its amazing, they arent stone bound yet they fight with a feirlessness that has inspired me beyond belief.  Most know they will die but they do what they do because they understand that its better to die fightn for freedom than surrender and become a drach slave or worse some specimen for experiments or what not.  They fight for their families, and the hope of a better future for their grandchildren.

I think we take the fight to em.  We got an opportunity now.  The dragons are gone and Racta whats his name is gone for a month.  We have ninethousand plus elite soldeirs in this fort waitn for the day.  I'd say we take the fight outside to the Cult while they are preparin the south wall.

I dont know why the big lizard gave us a month.  Like Captain Argali said he coulda finished us off yesterday.  Hes given us some repreive for who knows what.  He dont like the cult but is usin them for his own gains.  I cant figure it out now its too much to deal with.  Maybe he wants the cult and defenders to weaken eachother enought that who ever wins will be easy pickens for him later.  I dont know.  I do know that we cant wait for somethin to happen.

Trainin is complete for the most part.  I can read all of Tray's scroll even when in battle.  Weapon train' is at its peak now.  The drachs we are going against seem ta be gettin tougher and tougher.  Each fight new ones more improved ones emerge.  I'm battered adn bruised but through it all I have become one with my greatsword and it with me.  Although some drachs ya cant flank, I have succesffuly merged my skills in blade with my ability to find an angle, any angle, in battle and deal crippling blows to the enemy.  Its all timin' and bein in teh right place at teh right time.

Anyways, best get to the wall.  I wonder how Sasha is doin in Lor.  It'd be nice is she was here but oh well.  I bet she'd be purty surprised that I got this commission.  Maybe I'll live ta see her expression when I tell her.

*He closes the book and rests his head back on the wall.  As he closes his eyes the noises of battle start up again.  The all to common dull thuds of the drach boulders hitting the north wall resume, each time raining dust and soot down on his head*

*Vrebel takes a breather outside sundance to jots some thoughts down*

Well we kinda won.  A strike team that included yours truly went down into a cave near Stormcrest hollows and took out the Broken One.  Its a dragon or was.  The blood pool that Molvaren was using to make the drachs actually was the dragon if you can figure that one out.  Commander Jennara brought some kinda cure to stick inject in his blood stream.

All hell broke loose when Molvaren tomed in to figure out who was messin' with his toy.  A feirce battle ensued between our strike force and him.  We would have brought him down but everytime he looked to be on his last legs he transformed inta somethin else even wickider.  He managed to escape but so did we.  Whole place blew up and left a crater the size of corax lake.

Molvarens forces retreated from Hilm castle back ta Kuhl and now I'm charged with others to take back what he ran over in Hilm.  Right now its Sundance tommorow maybe Briardusk and then others.

I've met the mother once more.  This time in the deep.  Demon pit near a waterfall.  I keep tellin myself ta get some sleep and dont go inta fights when you can barely keep yer eyes open but such is the way of a warrior.  Never sleep never wash always be on yer guard and be ready fer battle.

Sometimes the hardest losses are the greatest learnin' moments.  I'll chalk this last one up to stupidity though.  My trainin' is almost complete but I feel like I can still dig some more power outa these old arms.  First I need to learn ta stay alive.  Duck and weave duck and weave.  Stick em' were they bleed.  And all that....

*He dusts off the old book after finding it in under some old training dummies in storage.*

We are still tecnically at war with Molvaren but for now he is "contained" in Kuhl.  The rest of the world has retreated back to thier respective countries and are dealing with a massive worldwide famine not to mention loss of lives from the war and the toll it took on the various countries who contributed soldiers and supplies.

As for the famine, I dont know what to think.  Is it natural?  I hear rumors it has been started by dark elves or milara or all sorts or crazy notions.  I hear the druids are the cause of the famine in Hlint.  But they Hlintites blame everyone but themselves for everything.

I need to do more but I for the first time have no direction in which to go on this.  I will give it more thought.  If someone or something is truly behind this then we need to put it down.  I fear it is harbinger of things to come maybe a weakining of our defenses for a future war.

On a bright note I have taken on a pupil.  Her name is Dot and she wants me to train her as a blade master.  I started her training to learn to be one with her bastard sword.  I've got her picking up coins and she is to never let her grip off her sword, ever, until I say so.  I'll give her a few weeks that should be enough.

She has much spirit and I am hopeful she will see it through.  I do have my worries.  She is a bit abrasive and seems to enjoy the killing more than I did but she does want to learn and seems to have a good heart.  Hopefully I have chosen someone who will continue the art in honor and not use her talents for evil.

Time will tell.  For now I train her and through it all I learn more about myself and my own sword.  We will grow and become stronger together.

*During their journey down into the depths of the Rift Vrebel allows Dot to take point so he can monitor her stance, swing, thrusts and battle prowess. He barks out pointers during battle but for the most part takes mental and written notes on her progress. The notes in his journal are hastely written and brief as most are scribbled down during battles.*

Good listener...complains too much abrasive at times.

powerful swing but not precise enough.

She uses her arms to swing too much. Stance is good but not consistent.

She has suprisingly not let her grip go of her hilt since I told her I had a special glove I'd strap on her if she doesnt stop dropping her blade.

Much progress in her sensetivity with her blade as she has let few coins slip off her blade and has balanced maces and other loot on her blade as well.

*Vrebel closes his journal and looks to the future months where he can give her proper training as his war room in Mask.*
