Title: Great HakPak/Override for Players!
Post by: ShiffDrgnhrt on October 05, 2009, 07:33:41 PM: Every want to give your PCs face some flavour? Maybe some lipstick or an eye color?

NOW YOU CAN! (If the DMs let you, that is) I found a very cool add-on online that lets you pick the eye and lip color of your PC! It syncs up with your tattoo colors...

Coloured eyes, lips and eyebrows -- Neverwinter Nights 2 Vault (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=6930)

It ALSO adds a bunch of new head designs... One of which I intend to use! :) Anyway, I suggest this, though if there is suddenly a swarm of requests for PC color changes, they might come after me...

Post by: ShiffDrgnhrt on October 05, 2009, 08:50:07 PM: As far as I know it works. Might not with some of the vanilla heads though, unless the teams chooses to make them part of their overall content. But all the non-vanilla heads work with this. :)

On the same token, however, I haven't tested anything, just DLed and messed with the single player to see what it looks like...

Seems this Override does not work, or at least it if does, something in Layo won't let it. It could just be me though... Anyway, it's a very nice override, I just haven't been able to make it work yet.

Post by: Black Cat on October 06, 2009, 10:47:18 AM: In my experience, the lipstick and eye colors match with what color you use in your clothes. Don't know exactly which of the 6 type does (clothes 1/2, leather 1/2, metal 1/), but I distinctly remember my ranger having at some time green lips.

And my dwarf got his beard-ring color depending on his choice of armor color.

And Black Cat, I'm certain the head works with tattoo colours, not clothing colours.

While I am not discouraging this at all, I would like to point out the following:

This modification to one of our HAK files is unsupported. If you experience any odd problems related to or after performing this modification, do not submit a bug report or expect the Layonara team(s) to fix it. If at some point in the future we update the HAK file, this modification will no longer be in effect, and it is solely the responsibility of the individual to manage that in order to keep this in place.

This statement pretty much applies to all overrides, but it's far easier to remove an override than a HAK modification.

Not if the Hakpack overrides the contents of the Override folder.

That is correct. One tattoo color goes with the eyes, the other tattoo color goes with the lips.

That's what I didn't understand! That the Layo Hak Pak had the heads in it! Wasn't until Dorg and Darkstorme told me so that a solution was found (by them).

It used to be that way(1) until makers of Persistent Worlds complained to Bioware that players were using the Override folder (inadvertently or otherwise) to override their Hakpacks and cause all sorts of problems.

Now, they are just hacking the contents of the Hakpacks. :) Beware, this is fraught with peril. All sorts on indeterminable problems can be caused by doing this. Take care as/when you do this. Any problems you experience, you really need to revert to the vanilla Hakpacks before raising a problem.

As I told you in IRC, it can and may have unintended consequences, such as other PCs showing up with oddly colored eyes and lips due to their character's tattoo colors, for example.

Just to add a little note. There is actually two heads in the packs that are set to the clothing for the lips. If you take a look at the head of Sonya Darsus, you will see what I meant. (sorry don't know the number of the head)

Heh, that's cool. That means that she will always match.

For the tattoo colors, I know of only three heads that work off of tattoo colors.

It will only work with certain heads.

Just to Point Out: :) If you haven't messed with the hakpak like I did, you are using what's already in the Layo HakPak. Meaning, all the heads haven't been replaced with the textures I'm using.

I know with Amanda's head, it changed with the color I set her tattoos at.

It looks like some change with the color of clothing and some with the color of the tattoos.

Post by: twidget658 on October 07, 2009, 10:29:14 PM: Did some testing, tattoo 1 colors the eye, tattoo 2 colors the lips on the heads can be changed. The only way that I found this out is by selecting tattoo color and selecting different heads until the color was applied to the lips or eyes (upon further investigation, I may be able to find what heads, with number, that this option is available for).

Additionally, here is a link to the color palette (http://amiaworld.net/about/hair_skin_tattoo_colors.html) so if you request a certain color, use these numbers so the GM can easily do it for you.

So while for those that haven't hacked their Haks it's true some heads already did this, and some coorespond to clothing colors, you're not seeing what the override does (because it's not working).

Just pointing this out because I donno if you guys are aware that you guys are still discussing what unaltered Layo-Haks provides.... :) If I'm wrong and you guys are just talking about not using the haks, just ignore me...

BTW~! Alter your Haks at your own risk!
