A few preliminary questions:
- Were you/are you under death effects at the time?
- Which character was this with?
-
It's probably a rounding issue.
That particular recipe is a very low level one, giving an average of 5 XP (at 50%), so at 95%, you'd potentially get (at most, if memory serves) 10% of that 5 XP, which works out to 0.5 XP, which then gets rounded down to 0 XP.

On the other side of crafting, tinkering with clay / sand gives 1exp at 95%

On the other side of crafting, tinkering with clay / sand gives 1exp at 95%
That is because they give 10XP at the 50% mark, thus 10% of 10 is 1.

Hehheh, I guess this is so because grinding greenstones is considered so boring by the character.
*X, returning from the caves looked up at the sky and thought "Gods.. is there no other way than this?". And then proceeded to a nearby house portal, taking the swirling lights to Ft. Wayfare.
The peasants jumped as X appeared with a pulse of light into the center of the standing stones, but after a few seconds they, once again, resumed their own matters at hand.*
*X arrived finally to Hempstead, and after convincing the gate guards with a phrase "No, I am not a dark elf, I am merely dark of skin, and human. See? No pointy ears." and hefting the bag to the crafthall, setting it to the side of the grinding pedestal, X thought with a sigh: "One day, I shall mine a fire agate.. one day..."*
