Energy Drain

My question is essentially this... Is this permanent for player characters hit with this spell? I know it says "permanent", but had to ask. 2d4 levels is a lot LOL.

School: Necromancy
Descriptor(s): Negative
Component(s): Verbal, Somatic
Range: Short
Area of Effect / Target: Single
Duration: Permanent
Additional Counter Spells:
Save: Fortitude Negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

The target creature permanently loses 2d4 character levels. See the Glossary term Level Drain.

Level drain can be removed with restoration (http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Restoration)  (or greater), but not with lesser restoration (http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Lesser_restoration).

Maybe it should be noted, just in case anyone asks after this, that it is the only way to remove it. No resting, resting in safe rest spots or similar will save you from the effect.
