Title: Christmas songs
Post by: Mooneyes on December 18, 2010, 09:13:44 AM
How many Christmas songs can we name? No duplicates and only 1 song per post. So if you know several make several posts. You can even post a link to your song.:)

Soooo, Let's GO!  I'll be the first.

Silent Night

Lets go for the non traditional . If I hear All I want again this season I think I'll puke.. *edit*  oops - after I read that it sounded like an attack on someone else's musical taste, it wasn't meant like that, more like a commentary on the local radio stations and stores' lack of selection...

All of these well almost all of these are great! Minerva I loved both of the ones you put up. And Darkstorm..Rockapella? That was VERY interesting:) Actually it was wonderful to listen to all of them. I love the variety and Elvis was a treat. Bing Cosby...well, just love him. And Celine Dion...super. Please keep them coming. I am really enjoying listening to them :)

"I'll Be Home for Christmas" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obiqf69MRLo) one of the most depressing Christmas songs out there.

Also, Good King Wenceslas is good.

And for more modern songs, Tenacious D and Sum 41's "Things I Want" is fun.

What's depressing about "I'll Be Home for Christmas"?

Maybe it's just the way I think about the song, but I always think of it as though it's being sung by a soldier who's away from home because of the war. The lines "I'll be home for Christmas, / You can plan on me" make me think of how the soldier believed the war would not take as long as it is. He eventually succumbs to the reality of his absence with the lines, "I'll be home for Christmas / if only in my dreams". It makes me think of how the previous planning in the song may be for naught, and it depresses me. The presents by the tree may go unopened for this speaker; he may never make it home to unwrap them.

Ah, and to continue the trend:
